What is Mindfulness-based CBT ? How is it different from general CBT ?
@fyzryan
Good to see you here Fyzryan. These are wonderful questions to ask. I did not know how to word the answers so I took the answers off Google. Both are real good things to join in and try, Both are on differnt levels depending on what you want. I do hope this helps some
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) is a type of psychotherapy that involves a combination of cognitive therapy, meditation, and the cultivation of a present-oriented, non-judgmental attitude called "mindfulness.
(Mindfulness-based CBT)
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) explores the links between thoughts, emotions and behaviour. It is a directive, time-limited, structured approach used to treat a variety of mental health disorders. It aims to alleviate distress by helping patients to develop more adaptive cognitions and behaviours
(this is the difference)
@RumpleSteeleSkin
is meditation a component of mindfulness.
I read mindfulness is about paying attention to detail
being in the present, living the momemtum, living today.
I'm trying to figure out if I'm mindful or not.
CBT cognitive behahavior theory: for me is cognition, Action, feeling the motive behind it all.
Thank you for giving this chance to pass and share my interlude.
Have a good day all.
@sugaryPainting
HI Sugary good to see you and also GREAT question here. Meditation "can be" a component of mindfulness. But these two are different and have a purpose for a person depending on what they want in their recocery. Yes Mindfulness is mostly about training ourselves to focus on the here and now. As you know we are humans and our brains are all over the place. Mindfulness down the line can also help us on accepting the impossible things that happened in our lives better. I do hope this answered your question
When I started to read, as I have found a wonderful world of knowledge. However it's awful that nobody from my acquaintances likes to read.
@DinaElwy
Dina it is nice to meet you here
Wow to engage in good books and finding a world of wonderful knowledge is good!
There are so many books out there where you can learn anything. I am happy for you and reading and learning new things. I agree with you on people not liking to read and learn on new things. I do hope eventually they find a great book that catches their eye!! Thank you for participating with us here
@amiablePeace77
Wow Ami big huggles to you for not drinking no more and doing well
For me when my kiddo was born and was a girl. I did not want my girl to do what I was doing. But...I guess I was not to serious until the 2nd girl was born. Then that did hit me hard to change my life and living.
What a wonderful decision I choose and much thanks for those that stayed near to me and brought me to the Lord. Best choices I made so my babies could have a good life
@RumpleSteeleSkin
Although I am not a parent I can imagine that having to care for those little ones made you find a strength inside of you which you might have never expected to have.
@amiablePeace77
Thank you Ami those words were kind. Yes having lil ones sure does help you be mindful of your life choices
My decision to quit my marriage.
I stood for the right thing within fear.
@peacefulWarrior10
I think many people stay in relationships for different reasons but there comes a time when we have to face the truth, that it is not working. Glad that you took the courage and did what was the best for you. I hope you're better now.
@peacefulWarrior10
Sometimes we know people, instently. Sometimes it takes us years to discover the whole picture.
It is a courageous decision. All the best.
@amiablePeace77 Thank you for this question. I think this is a really important one and got me into a really mindful state. What changed my life forever was when I began treatment. I knew there was support out there, and that defining moment made me want to be working in a helping profession.
What was the defining moment that changed your life forever and in what way?
Quitting my corporate job and traveling the world changed my life - I've worked for myself ever since and vowed to be more in the moment, more spontaneous, not a planner... I changed as a human from being a "director" to being an "explorer". Things that used to bother me no longer do. Things I used to do, I no longer bother with. I'm much happier with who I am and how I view, participate, and interact with myself and the world now! There's something to be said for following your dreams and not doing what someone else prescribed or expected for you!
@amiablePeace77
What was the defining moment that changed your life forever and in what way?
The day I chose to limit my drinking. There is a time for it when I choose, and although I learned a lesson December 1 2016 I choose to drink when I want. I am noticing I do not need a drink to escape my problems or worries but rather to embrace those concerns and work towards making a life of handling issues as they come.
There was about three defining moments, that changed my life.
One was simply being myself, as much as I can.
@sugaryPainting
I am glad that you found the way to yourself! I believe the more we are our true self the happier we become, the less stress we have.
@amiablePeace77
Well, only then; you know your faults and flaws. Thank you
@sugaryPainting
So true, great insight!
@amiablePeace77
Thank you, for me, to know my self:
My belief is different from people close to me, really close. I respect their beliefs and mine. but don't have to go by them Most
