Hi Mindfulness Community,

It's been a busy time for everyone following the recent news and I hope each of you are well and taking care of yourselves. Most of us are probably spending a lot more time at home which can be really difficult especially as we are so used to our daily routines!

What have you been doing to keep yourself busy? Do you have any tips that you can share with us?

In my spare time, I have been practising yoga which I find helps me a lot and setting up a daily routine so I can plan out the day. I've also been finding the time to read which has been great!

I'm still in the adjustment phase so I haven't felt the need to find new ways to keep myself busy yet. Lots to do in such a short time to get ready to work remotely. I'm a student and the campus has closed down. Like everyone else in my department, I'm using what should have been my spring break to prepare for a remote quarter: setting up web conference rooms to engage in classes, adjusting teaching material so I can share it with undergraduates in classes I'm aiding in, moving my research to an online platform so I can continue to work with my lab mates.

@SecretlyMe

You have really achieved so much! The adjustment phase does take some time so give yourself this time and allow yourself to gradually settle into your study routine.

I workout now and do yoga as well. I've also been spending more time here on 7 Cups getting stuff done, and I recently picked up my guitar to try to learn it again and be consistent with it. I've also gone back to learning French and I'm trying to make reading my Bible more of a habit now :)

@LexIris

So productive :) It sounds like you've found lots of ways to keep yourself entertained. It sounds like an excellent time to learn a language and I really hope learning french goes well for you and everything else you've placed into your routine!

@LisaDeRegtMBPsS Hi there!

To keep myself busy, I have a list of different activities that I enjoy doing. This includes working out on my exercise Peleton bike, watching TV, cooking/baking, doing housework, and keeping up with treatment. I recommend that anyone who is struggling come up with a diverse list of things they enjoy doing, so that your day is filled with variety.

@LisaDeRegtMBPsS hey Lisa great check in todayyes It has been a bit busy for me as well. Since I am all done w/nursing school(just waiting for the state to clear us all after virus to take test) agencies as well as facilities been calling on us to lend a hand. I DO NOT work in facilities when the nurses are out sick. I will work in out patient things as well as in home. Plus school hours still need to be kept on time weekly. As now we have 4 folks in 1 classroom now.

What do I do to keep my brain from going zombie-kickbuttcrazycheekycatch up on mail, catch up on here, do arts n crafts, mindfulness, make science experiments and so on. I think best thing I can share with others is know this.........

This too will passheart

I love that I'm not alone in the reading! It's really awesome, right? I'm gonna be so sad when work starts up again, because even though times are weird and stressful right now, it's making me long for a life in a cottage somewhere, where I can garden and read and take walks and, well, retire I guess. Haha. Too bad I'm a poor youngin'!!! Haha.

I have a set list of my dailies (7cups being one of them) that include AT LEAST a conscious body stretch, 3 square meals (even if some are very small), etc. I also have put down absolutely everything I have ever wanted to do but haven't had time to accomplish (tasks, not necessarily a bucket list) in a giant to-do list. Every day I check it out and see if I can strike something off! It's been great to have such a sense of accomplishment when I take down something I first thought to do months ago!

Lisa, this is such a wonderful post, thank you! I love the detox drink. Every morning I do "coconut oil chewing" for detox but I know lemon, how you mentioned, is an amazing fruit to support the body, so I will give that a shot next time I get lemons.

Now, what I am doing to keep myself busy apart from my normal house and garden work is trying out new cooking and baking recipies as well as art and craft and more hip yoga apart from the normal yoga I do on a daily basis. I find lots of stress manifests in the hips so I am working on those spots.

@LisaDeRegtMBPsS thanks for this. I do yoga at youtube with Adrienne and also practice 5 minute tai chi on youtube.

Besides that I am doing projects that need to be done like vacuuming out the dryer hose and under the refrigerator. That does not get done often but it extends the life of the machine

Today I wanted to learn how to meditate. I will help me keep my thoughts in the present. Does anyone know how to mediate or keep my state of being a reality ?

I've been working on my hobbies. Reading, writing, sketching, coloring, video gaming, cooking. Been also teaching myself sign language, sewing, and been working on my yoga. I like to keep busy haha.
