Mindful activities to calm your mind
Daily Check-In: May 8th to May 10th, 2026
Mindful activities help calm the mind back to the present state of where you are. We often go through periods where our minds race in different directions, sometimes all at once, and we do not know how to calm them down.
Some activities like deep breathing, mindful eating, and the sensory awareness exercises (5, 4, 3, 2, 1) can help us calm our minds; grounding movements like walking and stretching can help you. Our minds can wander because of family situations, job performances, our health, children, and daily activities.
Mindfulness helps you slow down and really think of what is going on with you at the present time. It supports your regulating of emotions, being in control of emotions, and calming yourself down. Mindfulness helps you:
Concentrate and learn how to slow down.
making better decisions
emotional intelligence
give yourself self-confidence
connect with others
Some exercises to control your mind are:
5-4-3-2-1 techniques: picture 5 things you see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste.
Mindful observations: Be mindful of your surroundings and what you are doing at the present time to calm down.
Body scan techniques: Scan your body from head to toe, noticing areas of tension and calmness without judgment.
Grounding your senses: placing your hand on an object and noticing the coldness or warmth it is radiating into your body. You may also put a cold compression on your head and lie down, sensing the coolness in your body.

How do you calm yourself down when your mind is racing? What exercises help you?
I find supportive self-talk, going for a walk, and the STOP technique quite helpful.

I used to do mindful eating and walking, I also tried aroma-therapy... I think wild-herbs picking while walking is a practice that can help and few consider, find an expert in your county, in Italy the government has official experts that can train you and that you can ask for advice each time you need. Be careful of charlatan and non official herbal experts! They will never ask you for huge amounts of money or try to sell you one and a million products... those aren't herbal pickers who like your grandma, used to know what herb was good, those are scammers.

How do you calm yourself down when your mind is racing?
When my mind is racing, I try to slow down and focus on one thing at a time.
Taking a few deep breaths and bringing my attention back to the present moment helps me feel less overwhelmed.
I also find it helpful to remind myself that I don't have to solve everything at once.
What exercises help you?
Grounding exercises and mindful breathing are the ones I use most often.
I also find that taking a short walk or simply paying attention to my surroundings can help me feel more present.
These small practices help me slow down and reconnect with the moment when my thoughts become busy.
