What was the craziest thing you ever did on one of your trips?

@amiablePeace77

As young adult, was in Las Vegas, NV for my brother's wedding.
The 'shotgun' wedding as we called it (her family didn't want to do the whole higher this and that.) completed.
My brother asked me to go with them to see Vegas. This was many many many years ago. But I remember going down the 'strip' with my brother and hitting every casino and getting kicked out.

I was under the age of 21. I was 19 or 20 at the time. So security would come by and ask for ID then escort me out.

So I have the privilege to say I have been kicked out all the casinos in Vegas LOL.

It might have been frustrating but on the flip side "Great job in Vegas", they made sure no underage and you can successfully say "I tried them all" 😄

@amiablePeace77 What was the craziest thing you ever did on one of your trips?

This isn't that crazy, but when I was in Hawaii, I found a surfboard that someone had run onto coral and banged it up and left it for the trash man. I took it to my pad and repaired it with fiberglass cement and fiberglass fabric. I surfed on that for the time I was in Hawaii.

Not super crazy, but a funny story nonetheless. I was camping with a group of friends in Hawaii, but we couldn't find the "secret campsite" someone had told us about, so we just slept in the car in a pulloff area along a little backroad. There was a picnic table there and I decided to try sleeping on the picnic table because the car was crowded and uncomfortable. I woke up in the middle of the night because I heard noises right by my head. It was a cow. Scared the *** outta me, lol!

Yea I would be in the same boat. "Pardon me, would you happen to have an extra pair of underclothing? Yea mine is soiled because of a cow."

That is fine.
Much of my associations, 20+ years ago, use to have fun with me for I was sheltered and unlearned of the world.
I was naive to much and in some areas I still am. I just have fun with.

I had to look that up :D

The hiking route is of moderate difficulty and the terrain is uneven. Most of the course takes place in trees and areas with vegetation while in the last part, the path follows the bare and rocky ridge to the top at 846 meters high. From there, the view is amazing and spectacular.

WOW, ya!!

If I would have done that ... WOW, all my friends and family would have said "Barltik, has been replaced by one of the body snatchers. WHAT DO WE DO?"

I am way way to structured outside of 7Cups. I don't do anything without a Plan, Notes, and plenty of Research.

IE: We are going on a cruise. I have a file printed out in my folder that has:
Insurance policy #
Address of port, number miles to port, where stopping for gas to and from port. Dinning time. Dinning locations & Times, What we are doing each day. Each port of call with time. etc etc

So did you just decide while you were on the vacation to purchase or was it something you went back and did.

OK being honest (still) I living vicariously through you and your adventure now LOL.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Barltik. It sounds like you're quite the planner. I also like to plan, do a lot of research, as well as take notes, just not to that degree lol

My wife and I had been planning to relocate for many years but once the pandemic hit and travel became so much more difficult we re-thought our original plans. Moving our move up 6-7 years and moving to a completely different area of the world than where we originally intended.

We literally sold almost everything we owned, house, vehicles, possessions, etc. Then hopped on a plane with our son and landed in a Central American country we'd never been to with the intention to purchase land/home + land.

It's been over 3 months that we've been here now and moved into a place a month ago. It has been super difficult but 100% worth it in our opinion 👍😊

This is a long post and also, as a TW this may induce Dysphoria

I don’t know if this was necessarily crazy, but in 2013, after only talking to someone for maybe two or three months ( if that ), I travelled to the US from Canada via a bus

When I was at the terminal before I waited for the first bus, I didn’t know that you were supposed to tag your bag with the location of your final destination, so I think I tagged my bag with the last Province that I was going to travel to before going to Seattle . ( I’ll explain why I’m mentioning this later on in this post )

The ride was only supposed to take maybe 4 days, but I think one of the buses stopped working and we had to wait for another bus, and then one night, myself and someone else weren’t allowed onto another bus because of something, and so we slept in an airport on the floor on a mat that they shared with me

But, the night that I was told to wait for another bus, I asked to check for my luggage, just incase someone put my luggage on the bus and it was missing because I accidentally tagged my bag with the wrong destination

Luckily, I still had my backpack, but I needed a change of clothes because something happened ( I don’t want to trigger anyone, so I won’t share this information. I wasn’t hurt or anything ), but I was okay

There also was a Province that we stopped in temporarily and I didn’t have any signal for almost the entire time that we were in that Province because the only cellphone towers there were for a particular company, so I was a bit anxious

The first day that I was in Seattle, I went to the bank to take out some money and then later on, the person I met in person and I, went somewhere to pay for something and that’s when I realized I lost , I think $200 and I panicked, but luckily I had more money

I met some awesome friends of the person and also on my way home, someone offered me a blanket because they saw that I was shivering and I was so grateful. So wish that I had a conversation with them and I wish I learned things about them because they were so awesome to lend me their blanket

Also, I can’t remember if this was on my way to Seattle or on my way home, but one day, we made a pit stop and I went into the washroom and while inline for a stall, I tried to avoid eye contact ( because I’m Trans and I didn’t want someone to look at me for safety reasons ) and the person I sat with on the bus, splashed water at me to get my attention to let me know that a urinal was available and I was so embraced because I had to awkwardly shake my head no ( to hint that I wanted to wait for the stall ) ( I know that there’s Transgender people, Non-Binary/GNC folks that are at a higher risk of getting hurt because of their identity, I’m just sharing )

( By the way, I don’t complain about this anymore and I’m not complaining in this post, I know there’s people who don’t have cell phones, there’s people who don’t have clothes, money or a house. I’m just sharing these pieces of information because they’re apart of the story )

Although the person I met in Seattle and I stopped talking maybe a month or two after due to things I did, ( which is understandable why we don’t talk anymore ), I’m glad that I went on this trip because it pushed me out of my comfort zone with talking to people, travelling across Canada and into the states for the first time without family or friends and I wish I paid more attention to the places the person introduced me to in Seattle, but I’m glad that I went on that trip.

I’m sorry that this post is very long, but I thought that it was worth sharing

Thank you for sharing! This trip seems to have been filled with many emotional challenges but you made it, congrats!

It hurts my heart that transgender people, Non-Binary/GNC folks that are at a higher risk of getting hurt because of their identity. I hope one day in the very near future this will all be the past and the world realizes we are all human beings who want to be who we are not what we are supposed to be!
