Mindfulness can be a powerful tool for self care and self soothing. Mindfulness is when we slow down , uses our sense and be present in the now moment. When we are stressed mindfulness helps us to understand our attention and how to shift from the negativity we are having.

When practicing mindfulness it teaches us how to calm ourselves and help us channel good feelings.  in stressful situations mindfulness will help us to explore and acknowledge what we are feeling. It helps us slow down notice what is happening and how we are feeling and to help us soothe ourselves and continue on with our lives,

here are some ways to practice mindfulness

Mindfulness can also be done outdoors rather than just in our homes. there are several activities we can do when outside.

do you practice mindfulness just indoors or do you notice doing it when your outside ?

do you do mindfulness even when you are not stressed?

is mindfulness helping you to be in a relaxed well being rather than when stressed?

@pamharley003. I do mindful breathing inside and try to practice mindfulness outside by watching wildlife and other nature. I do practice mindfulness every day even if I am not stressed. I think it helps me to feel calmer.

Oooh, thanks for this! Good timing too - I calmed just reading it and picturing blowing bubbles! We always watch them to see how long or how far they will go before they pop - or just watch a ton of them in one area for a few seconds and how it makes the sun sparkle - love bubbles! I wondered what I could blow bubbles with since I have liquid soap and some yarn.... I wonder how long they last in 111 degree desert heat in the shade or if they would evaporate right away! I wonder if the dog would chase or ignore them! Would she bite the air? Or just look at me silly? I like how the blowing part is really gentle and easy. The slower you blow, the more bubbles come out. The more even the air stream the more bubbles come out faster! I wonder if I could use a stainless steel straw to blow them? (environmentally friendly bubbles! HA!) Never thought of bubbles as a mindfulness exercise before but yes, it really is! AAah, I feel good thinking about it! And planning to do it later!

Sometimes the thought is even better than the activity/reality! Because in my mind everything is good/happy/calm/peaceful/functions!

What else could I use to blow bubbles? a round cap of some sort... there must be something in the sewing kit that would work...

@pamharley003

I love going for mindful walks, smelling the air, feeling the wind go through my hair and observing my surroundings especially when feeling stressed
