Using our senses

Daily check-in Mindfulness Oct. 12 to 14, 2026
October is a good time to practice mindfulness by intentionally paying attention to your senses. It’s good for stress relief, helps you feel present and connected, and lets you enjoy the transition into fall. October is a month of sights, sounds, smells, and feelings to be experienced with all your senses. The changing weather, nature’s patterns, and seasonal customs make it so.

Cool mornings and nice days!

@caringShoulder1357 Yess! & don't you just love it? 😀
this picture is beautiful. I live in a state that doesn’t look like that ;(. I appreciate using my YouTube screen saver with a fall background and fireplace. I also really enjoy eating pumpkin spice cake and drinking coffee with pumpkin spice creamer. It’s nice to smell the candles and fragrances in the store.

@akunknown
You notice and take action! 👍
Do you think that feelings of sadness or emptiness might be connected to the changing seasons coming up?
@amiablePeace77
The things which I am noticing with my senses is the leaves falling from the trees, the evenings drawing in and the temperature becoming more cooler.
What I am feeling during this time is a sense of wanting to hibernate and feel cosy as well as thinking about all of the holiday celebrations which are coming up.
@amiablePeace77
I love the smell of the freshly fallen leaves.
Pumpkin spice.
Hot chocolate
It makes me feel happy, it's just my time of year 🥰

@Amanda84
Enjoy this time fully! 😃 (offers a hot choc)

Thank you 💕

I love this check-in! For me, October is all about the crisp, cool morning breeze right as the sun comes up. There’s something so grounding about stepping outside, hearing the slight rustle of dry leaves, and holding a warm cup in my hands before the day gets busy. That physical contrast between the cold air and the warm drink instantly pulls me into the present moment. 🍂
@amiablePeace77 I've started to notice the cold more. I notice goosebumps on my skin and the need for a jumper more often. But with cold can come coziness, its that time of year when I can crack out the hot water bottle. I also started noticing the smell of the rain more. The petrichor. Its so calming to me.
@amiablePeace77 The sense of hearing is better than the senses of sight.
