Daily Check-In February 1, 2019

Hi lovely community.

Today I want to share some mind
tricks with you, if you know them already, take this as a reminder, if not, hey, might be something to pay attention to.

Establishing a routine

Consistant timing can make your brain want to work. wink Setting up a schedule with specific times to accomplish something, lets say e.g. I will meditate at 8 a.m. for 5 minutes, helps to create a routine and our brains do love patterns and routines.

If you tell yourself, I like to have a healthy brain and body (suggestion) and every time you follow through on that thought and meditation or whatever you have chosen, youre changing the structure of your brain. Within weeks your brain will treat it as a regular routine, and after a few months you will feel uncomfortable if you dont do it. The biggest benefit is that you will be getting more power from your brain.

Let me know what you think about it or what kind of healthy routine you already have or want to establish.

Thank you so much for this lovely check-in! I love doing these little brain tricks, it helps me become a lot more productive. One example that I like to do is "in this hour I will achieve all of the tasks I have set out". I'll definitely keep trying this out with more examples :)

Take care! ❤️

That's a good idea, making a plan with achievable goals for one hour. Would be nice to hear about other examples.laugh

@amiablePeace77 Let me know what you think about it or what kind of healthy routine you already have or want to establish.

I get up different times but I allow 2 hours to stretch, do exercises, eat and personal care so it becomes a routine I do not question because I feel better when I do it.

@amiablePeace77 yes it makes me feel like I can do the preparation including meditation without worry. Habits are not bad. They can be very good when they contribute to a positive self image.

Wonderful post Peace-yes yes and OH YES!!!!!

Lately for the past week I been so so busy with work-like 12-13 hour days due to my client moving and stuff. Today is my first day I told my bos I need to break and do something I need to or liked doing. Then I go back for 4-5 more hours. It is very important I feel to have some sort of routine of a certain time to check in with you or something that "feeds" you and you feel better. I am on here for 30 minutes then a nice hot shower. Then back to workheart

Rumple, it's a good thing to say when you need a break, glad to hear that you did it. particularly after working to many hours. I agree working with breaks is much easier to handle and, to me ,increases performance too.

I think this is a really great idea! At the school that I teach at, we explain to new teachers or families that, "The brain is pattern seeking" and we also tell them that, "what we focus on, we get more of". And both of these things are so true!

For example, we have a "Kindness Tree" in our classroom. When anyone recognizes something helpful, they share it with teachers and peers around them and they put a leaf on the tree. The next day we take time to admire the tree as a class and we start over with the new day. Our tree has been so full everyday because our brains are pattern seeking. We agreed as a class that we would recognize kindnesses and focus on the positive and our brains are trained to do that consistently now. Even when we're having a rough day, we take a moment to stop and recognize how we're feeling, breathe and refocus.

Thanks for this check-in. I'm good about practicing this type of exercise when I am at work but my personal life has been hectic lately and it's helpful to have a reminder that practicing mindfulness and creating healthy routines is important for every area of my life.

I never heard something like this before and I must say, that it AWESOME. Grow a tree by sharing helpful information as an act of kindness - admiring the kind work everyone participated in must be a wonderful and bonding feeling. Training the brain to focus on the positive is possibly the best we can do for our minds in my opinion.

Sorry though about the stress you had, it's good that you have routines to cope with it. How is it now?

Oh my, things have been a bit tough. I recently lost a friend to cancer and then my grandmother died a few days later. My heart is heavy but I have been working hard to focus on the good times and just breathing and being aware of the present moment.

It's hard to loose loved ones, sorry to hear. I am glad that you can focus on the now doing one step at a time and on the days you spent time together, those are precious memories.

@scarletPear1945

Sitting down and trying to listen what is going on inside, connecting to your emotions can answer a lot of questions.

I hope you will get the clarifications you might be looking for. If you feel comfortable, let me know how it went.💚
