Mindfulness And Self Compassion Challenge

Hello everyone I hope you all are doing as best as you can for today
Today I was thinking of what to bring out as a challenge for the mindfulness community. Self Compassion has been ecchoing in my brain lately. Not sure for myself- or for others. Maybe both right!
How often do we be UN-mindful of YOU first in somethings?
How often to we actually give ourselves a moment to sit down and check in with ourselves?
When was the last time we done something for ourselves?
I know personally for myself it has been sketchie. So I lack that right about now. I know I am not alone in this as we are so ever busy daily or sometimes we are low/down in some of our mental health illnesses to even get up and brush our hair. hugs

For this challenge it is simple....
- Daily answer these questions about self compassion and see how they make you feel daily. Be honest with yourselves
You can post here daily if you like or do it on your own.
* How does your belly, chest, and head each feel when you reflect on this topic
* Can you think of reasons why you have hard time showing yourself compassion
* I can say 3 things that are good about me
When we do something new in our daily lives it does feel weirdo, uncomfie - but also sometimes surprising as to how our bodies react in a good way to these changes. So please try this for 1 week and let's see how our out come looks after doing this for a week.
Give yourelf a hug- you deserve it

How does your belly, chest, and head each feel when you reflect on this topic - I feel tight in my belly and chest - head is okay
Can you think of reasons why you have hard time showing yourself compassion - Too much to do to think about it, trying to take care of others, feeling like i don't deserve it.
I can say 3 things that are good about me - I am organized, i have pretty eyes, i am a kind person
@MissPen hey there good to see you today
I understand how your body can feel tight. It is very normal to feel this when you actually mindfully think of self compassion-loving you. So many have not had this or do not know how to start, or think they deserve it. But everyone deserves love. Maybe you can find some time to take care of you hun. I take care of others too and finally noticed I needed a day off for myself. But...also it can be very hard to slow down and focus on you. Those are 3 wonderful things you shared about you. hugs
@RumpleSteeleSkin thanks. I appreciate your kind and encouraging words.
* How does your belly, chest, and head each feel when you reflect on this topic
My stomach feels tight and painful. My chest feels some of the same feelings my stomach does, but less so. My head feels nothing in particular. Anxiety rises up over the idea of being kind to myself.
* Can you think of reasons why you have hard time showing yourself compassion
- Part of me doesn't believe the compassion I direct towards myself. I don't believe I deserve compassion.
- I'm used to pleading with myself to get myself to do the most basic of things. I don't think of directing compassion to the struggle.
- I feel like I need to actually do something and earn kindness before I can receive it.
- I feel like something bad will happen if I show myself kindness; that if I offer compassion to myself and identify with my own struggles, I may feel better; but if I do feel better, something worse will happen. I'll get punished in some way.
- Having demands, judgements, and harsh criticism placed on me is how I was raised, so I might have picked up similar self-talk because of how my mother treated me, motivated me to do things, and punished me - even though that kind of self-talk hasn't been as much of an issue in many years, as far as I'm aware.
- It seems that trauma plays a role in preventing me from being able to make progress in life. Then there is also the way in which my mother is legitimately vengeful, entitled, and how she has actively undermines and ruined the lives of other people who she feels "owes" her, in some way. Being her child, having come from her, it's very likely she feels I owe her a great deal (shehas often expressed as much to me in the past - tallying the ways in which having me has held her back in life and cost her). In the past, she has targeted and undermined others she has felt slighted by or whom she felt "owed" her. If I have too much happiness or success, I fear she will find out and I will become a target again for her abuse.
* I can say 3 things that are good about me
I try my best to achieve my goals, or at least, to fight against my depression and anxiety in the way of me working on said goals
I try to treat people kindly, because I know how much it hurts to be treated cruelly
I value helping others improve their lives and well-being. I care that my efforts create a meaningful outcome for others.
@Zeraphim hi good to see you
aawww hun the way your whole body reacts to being kind to yourself seems hard or uncomfie. But this is very normal and its ok. hugs
It is very understandable of not feeling like you deserve this or you have to do something kind to get it. Sometimes in our past things that happened to us kinda prevents us on recieving or even wanting that kindness to ourselves hun. And this to is ok Zeraphim. Wow look at those wonderful things you shared about yourself!!! Keep trying to be kind to yourself-it is slow work daily. hugs my friend
@RumpleSteeleSkin -sits next to you and snuggles-
@kindSoul10 awww hun anytime we can cuddle and be mindful. Good to see you hun
@RumpleSteeleSkin I really enjoy your check-ins. They are so cheerful and calming. I'm just not in the mood to write much.
Day 1
* How does your belly, chest, and head each feel when you reflect on this topic
I honestly do not react to self compassion. I rather run the opposite way
* Can you think of reasons why you have hard time showing yourself compassion
Maybe believing I am worth it
* I can say 3 things that are good about me
I am honest, adorable and so lovable
@RumpleSteeleSkin
Along with being honest, adorable and lovable, you also have a helpful heart- I haven't been on 7 Cups for long but I've noticed how often you lift others up and offer kind thoughts to others. Thanks for all that you do
@RumpleSteeleSkin
My body feels hopeful! Is hopeful a feeling, lol- maybe excited? I am excited at the idea that I am ready for a new step in self-growth. I think that I have difficulty showing myself compassion sometimes because I want to be a better person and I am disappointed when I don't meet my own expectations. But I can be kind to myself and say that I am dedicated, I am strong and I am honest. Thank you for your thoughtful post- it's so helpful to take moments to remember our self-worth.
@OneTraveler hey great to see ya here
Yes hopeful is a feeling YOUR feeling so it is valid! Oh wow to be excited on a new step in self growth so is hopeful
aaww hun you and me and many more make expectations on ourselves and sometimes don't follow through or accomplish them-THEN we beat ourselves up hun. Hugs
Way to go-love that attitude you have on being kind to you and being dedicated and honest.
Hey Rumple, thank you so much for this lovely post ❤️
1) I'm not really sure. Sometimes my head is okay but other times I'll just dismiss of it and realise that what I'm thinking isn't true.
2) I don't give myself enough time to show compassion. I'd much rather show compassion towards other people, instead of spending time on myself! I don't really feel that I need it as much as others.
3) Three things that are good about me!
- I have great empathy and listening skills
- I can make people smile
- I'm good at working hard
It was nice trying out this challenge - although I didn't expand very much here, I've definitely thought about it a lot more in my head. I always try my best to be open and receptive to new ideas :)
@peppermintlove ello to you!! Peppermint I am just like how you desribed you on thinking of self compassion. But more so maybe for me just don't wanna give it much time. You really are a wonderful person to think of others and give them compassion. But please hun know this, giving to others does make you empty for you. Maybe once a day for 10 minutes sit and ground yourself and do positive affirmations of yourself. You deserve it!! Woooow those 3 things you shared about yourself is so so true. Hugglez my friend
Well hun, I am glad you tried it out and were honest here. No need to share much just how you feel like sharing. I always love hearing from you in the forums. Having an open mind to things sometimes can be hard-I know. @Laura always preached "Open mind Rumple" and 3 years later my mind is a bit more open to new things. So great to see you here Peppermint
