Mindfulness Daily Check-In January 17, 2018
I am wondering what the snow will be like which is predicted to fall. Will it be heavy thick flakes that blanket my clothes, or sharp needles that smart my face. Will I see the beauty of the snow or just think of the work that clearing the snow involves.
Sometimes we can imagine what our intention is and it can set the stage for being open to being in the moment. I am looking forward with the eagerness of a child to the snow tomorrow. A new experience that I have never had before. If I give myself permission to be in the moment then I open up the cage and let the song bird fly free. We never know what freedom is till we allow ourselves to experience it.

So here at my place no snow. But cold is there. I am going back to home after hectic but good day. I can feel the cool wind and it giving me such a nice feeling. I saw couple of kids playing and their smile reminded me of my childhood.
I have fond memories of my childhood with this winter season. And sometimes it makes me nostalgic too. But I think I am good. I know how to stay mindful.
@ASilentObserver glad you found some of your old winter memories. It is more about validating our experiences and accepting them as they are now. Thanks for your response.
For me, it's getting all cozy warm inside. I love to cuddle up with a dog in my lap, a good book, and a piping hot mug of something warm to drink...coffee, tea, chai...or sometimes without the book and just be. The cold helps me to slow down and go within, so it's a perfect time to cuddle up with Missy and reflect, meditate, or learn.
@BridgetAileen glad to hear you have your comfort zone all set for winter. It is a time of inner reflection.
I love when we have a snow storm. I like to play outside with my dog in the deep snow, expecially at night with a clear, starry sky. It's nice in those moments there is nothing else to do but feel the soft heavy snow drifts, and enjoy it with my dog whose only focus is digging her toy out of the snow.

My 1 dog loves to run fast and then put her nose down in the snow and continue running. Cute
I love the snow and I have already been out to plat and shovel a spot for my dog/
This snow will kill off a lot of virus
I really like watching the snow fall. It just falls down down down, they let the wind carry them until they find their final place to be on the ground. They fall gently, unlike raindrops or hail. It's just calm and peaceful to watch. Those snowflakes trust the wind to carry them, to slow their fall, and they don't mind where they're going to end up.
When outside, they're soft on my skin and crinkle beneath my feet. For some reason they make the world a little quieter, like the snow knows I like the peace and calm and it tries it's hardest to give me just that.
Lastly, I always get stuck with the same song in my head: 'Favourite Things' from The Sound of Music. After all:
"Girls in white dresses with blue satin satches
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into spring
These are a few of my favourite things"

we do not have snow here but i have memories from my home country
memories of taking the snow slide and going down the hill, so much fun, taking the skis and walking on the snow in the forest to a cute little restaurant and a meal. at x-mas time walking with my friends through the snow for almost 1 hour to get to our favorite coffee shop in town and having coffee and the best cookies i ever tasted.
feeling the cold from the snow in the body and observing the body to slowly warm up from the hot chocolate was always an amazing experience (the cookies helped of course a lot too 😉)

Hi @soulsings! Thanks for tagging me. first of all, Winter is one of my favorite seasons, always. I have an experience of falling in love and being in love in winter and I believe that winter is the season of love and affection. In winter the weather is cold, every where is white and everything looks the same and pure. I think we tend to find the warmth and love in ourselves just like we need to get in a house or a warm place and be together to feel warm in winter. Generally, I think trying to build up my life again is my current experience.
