Mindfulness Daily Check-In January 31, 2018

How do you know when to much is- TO MUCH???
How do you know when your plate is over-flowing?

We all from time to time feel overwhelmed, just to much in 1 day can fit-right? We notice these things, maybe feel it physically as well. But do we listen to our bodies, our thoughts, or your family and friends sharing what they see? We are huma- and it's ok. I even Rumple have a hard time in my life at this. But practicing mindfulness has really helped me focus a bit more of what's important in my daily life to do as well as some me time
Maybe let's try some of these skills to lesson being overwhelmed
1. Expectations- The number one source for stress and overwhelming anxiety is our expectation on a particular outcome. In trying to satisfy that expectation, we place unnecessary pressure on ourselves, thus causing stress.
2. We take on to much- We have an innate drive triggered by survival instincts to please others and to avoid displeasing. As a result, many of us are not good at saying no. Or sometimes, our well intentions have us committed to more than we can realistically take on.
3. Pressure on ourselves- There is a voice within our heads that is constantly chattering, and often telling us what weve done wrong, or how we are not good enough, or why we need to get everything done in one sitting
4. Perfection/Control- The same mental voice in our head also tells us that things have to be perfect, or else our life will be over. Even if we dont consciously register this, we feel the resulting anxiety and stress in our body, unsure of its cause. Grasping for control is another source of stress, because many times, we cannot do everything ourselves.
Today maybe each of you can look into our daily lives and see where we are just "streeeeeetched" to much. Mindfulness skills teach us not to judge even this in ourselves. Just look in to ourselves is all. Who knows we might discover a few things
Please share here with us on ways you might lesson your overwhelmness of your daily life..............

@RumpleSteeleSkin thanks for reminding us of the need not to put too much on our plates both figuratively and otherwise.
For me good self care is allowing time o my needs are met and I have time to help others. When I try to do all the shoulds in one day or cross off my to do list, I tend to get stressed. Better to pick the things I can do on my list that are comfortable today.
@soulsings
HIya Souls good to see you in check in
I agree with the self care of self first, that way you have a "full cup" on supporting others or lifes demands. I understand fully on the check-list method. Doesn't work-blah I like how you shared pick the things that you can do. That is very important and I believe it enforces those self boundaries better. Good job Soul
@RumpleSteeleSkin
thanks for this important post.
my goal is a good balance, work, relax, work relax so my body does not burn out. i will have at least 1 day complete relax and maybe another 1/2 or full in between, if required, allowing me to fill up my tank.
@amiablePeace77

I was freaking out because of something for a long time, and every day more and more, but now I wanted to ground myself, and I've found this thread! That's awesome! Just what I needed!
I will try to be non-judgemental, don't expect anything to be perfect, just "enough", and be aware of negative chatter in my head, and then turn it to positive.
@PurpleNina hi thanks for posting. That is what we are here for, to practie. All the best to you!
@PurpleNina
HI Purple good to see you
Great that you stumbled onto this thread on grounding. I do hope it helps you with feeling a bit more in the present and calm
All we can do is try things-right. If we put high expectations or ones to low we will never feel we are accomplishing much. I do love your attitude on trying to be non-judgemental and things not perfect as well as the negative chatter. Good job
