Mindfulness Daily Check In July 11, 2018

Good morning/evening everyone
How are you all doing? hmmm.............big question to ask right?
Well I am doing good, and even worked early this morning and was finished early! WootWoot
So that is something that has me in a positive mood. I know for some it really is hard to focus on how your feeling, being honest- and admitting even if your not doing so well. Hugs
my friends. That is ok too.
There are so many things to learn about mindfulness. And 1 of those things is tuning into ourselves on how we are feeling. Radically accepting it-yes accepting it. And trying very hard not to change it, ignore it or make it gigantic. Just simply being sad, lonely, isolated or in pain. Still hugs
my friends.
So I'm going to share a little something with you all on feelings and laughter. After all you are my mindfulness family and connection we all need....
One day, during an especially stressful period, my mind was racing with worry, emotional upheaval, fear about my upcoming surgery, anxiety about losing my job, etc., etc., etc. The noise in my head was deafening. Suddenly, out of nowhere, this popped into my head:
Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?
I was shocked
but I just had to laugh. It was the theme song from SpongeBob SquarePants, a cartoon show I watched with my children. I grew up with Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck and love kids cartoons. Theyre silly, irreverent and completely stupid, and thats why theyre funny. Somewhere in my brain, I knew I needed relief from all of the stress I was under, and SpongeBob came to the rescue!
If mindfulness is a state of active, open attention to the present, what is more mindful than laughter? Something strikes you as funny and you laugh. If you analyze it, its just not funny anymore. For that moment, the laughter and the joy of being in the moment are all you are about. Youre like a child again, able to enjoy the moment without quantifying or analyzing your reaction.
Also a simple act of laughing increases endorphins, the feel-good brain chemical, which helps decrease physical pain. You really do feel better after a good laugh. Whenever I am stuck in upset or worry, I look to laugh or watch a funny movie. If I seriously need to giggle, I go into LSR which always breaks me up (and out of my low spirits). Laughing is a relief, separating me for the moment from worries. More than that, however, it allows hope to creep back on the inhale.
As Mark Twain put it, The human race has one really effective weapon, and that is laughter.
If you suffer from depression, no funny movie is going to help lift your spirits. But, if you are stressed and worried, give yourself a laughter break. Share with me if you feel comfie too- on how you are feeling today. What are some fun things you try to do to laugh or feel better.
Hugs my friends

@RumpleSteeleSkin Hi Rumple!
How are you doing today? I hope you are having a wonderful and mindful week so far!
I am glad that the Spongebob theme song helped a lot. I love Spongebob and cartoons in general, so when I am feeling stressed and overwhelmed at times, it helps to watch it to lighten my mood and make me feel happy. I always appreciate the colors and unique animation styles of cartoons. Also, making funny faces at my loved ones and just being my weird self by making them laugh makes me feel better as well.
Thank you for this wonderful post, and I hope you are feeling better! *hugs*

@SaimaK
Hiya sweet Saima
oh yes yes getting your face all messed up at ur family sure does make me laugh and lose alot of stress to.
@RumpleSteeleSkin Hehehe, I'm glad to hear that!
Thank you, Rumple!

@RumpleSteeleSkin
Hope you are having a good day...
Very stressful week at work... dropping my projects to save my boss's and co-workers projects. They're manipulating me to do it (rather than asking) ... I figured them out but the fact they are starting to argue between each other... I think come uppin' may be at work. (May be terrible to say but everyone always tells me to cope by knowing one day they'll get what's coming to them and I hope it does.) I was so tired after the fiasco yesterday, I went home and plotzed and was in bed by 8pm for a not so restful night of sleep.
Today is my project day... I'm trying to slam through a list of things I've had to delay for 2 days-- having to still stop and address their issues (Guess who will be installing Grammarly on some pcs one day while they're boss and co-worker are not in the office to save her sanity).
Trying to listen to a little Allman Brothers to smooth myself along - probably a little Earth, Wind, and Fire followup to keep the pace going. But... I did take a break for little Wheel of Morality with the Animaniacs. (https://looneytunes.wikia.com/wiki/The_Wheel_of_Morality) The same thing happened to me... all of the sudden my head is filled with Yakko Warner saying ... Wheel of Morality, turn, turn, turn, tell us the lesson we should learn. So... I set off to find the Warner Brothers and their sister Dot for a little break and a few giggles. I may curl up with Amazon Prime and watch some Shawn the Sheep tonight (https://www.shaunthesheep.com/) just to let the brain rest before another day that will be hard and full of juggling. (Friday isn't looking much better :-( )
Just KBO
@diplomaticconfucious
HI Diplomatic nice to see you today
aawww yes work stress sometimes can build very fast and it gets demanding to. I am so so sorry that those people are manipulating you into doing things. That is not right! But I am like you-what comes around goes around. But never hope for revenge, but well karma does bite tho lol. I do hope soon that you can find a way to share with them on how you feel about this. hugs
Hey look at it as you are doing a good deed ok. Even tho your stuff gets put on hold. That deserves 2 cookies from me
oh yay music to distract some stress is always good. Again, I know your job is stressful maybe some mindful job related boundaries can help this situation from not occuring again. hugs to you
@RumpleSteeleSkin
:: noms the cookies. :: Rewards.... They are sweet! :;huggles the big eli::: needed that too.
Boundaries don't matter to the boss... "She's the boss" and she doesn't care as long as she looks good and doesn't have to do it. Legality and morality be .... um.... you know the word. 😏
Co-worker has never worked in office environment that she didn't run or runover. But I think I see the real reason she doesn't keep a job longer than one year. It's all about her and she will undercut, lie, and manipulate- which she has done this week to the boss not just me. So.... Interesting turn yes?😬
So jamming to some tunes keeps me going... and helps cut out the convos of boss and co-worker who shout when they talk. I deserve a binging of Disney this weekend starting with Lion Ling 1 1/2.
Any other recommends for funny Disney Day?
Thanks!
@RumpleSteeleSkin when I am upset or feeling down smiling seems to bring me out of it. Even if I go in the bathroom and make faces in the mirror until I start to crack a smile
hello family:
Hope everyone is doing well. I myself have been caught up in some family matters that have had me pretty stressed out. I am feeling pretty drained out and am just now trying to get settled down for some self-care. We had a 17-year-old nephew get killed in a car wreck and it's been trying. Please keep our family in your prayers.
@scarletPear1945
Sorry to hear of your family's loss. May peace and solace embrace you and your family during this time.
We are here for you.
@diplomaticconfucious
Thank you so much

Thank you so much
@RumpleSteeleSkin
Hi Rumple, yessssssssss to laughter, always! Laughter can take so much stress away, even just smiling.
Emotionally I am feeling quite fine today, but yesterday I was a bit in physical pain for a short while. When going through it I imagined all the nice things I could do and smiled inside. When it was over I started to laugh and had lots of funny thoughts which are still lasting. LAUGHTER and SMILING are some of the best medicines to me.
