Mindfulness Daily Check In March 7, 2018

Morning all you wonderful mindfulness community. First hugz to everyone
Today I want to babble/share on something that hits home for many on here. C-H-A-N-G-E. Yes that word.
"OMG no no more change"
"I like things the way they are"
"They are a great leader don't move them or let them go!"
"I'm scared of this-nope I don't like it!"
Change is hard for many people to accept. However, it's worth keeping in mind that part of growing as a person requires you to accept that life is constantly changing. We might lose our jobs, lose loved ones, have to relocate unexpectedly, or have other life changing things happen to us, but these changes are just part of life. We might not like how society is changing or how our community is changing, but we need to be able to cope with these changes in a positive way. NO I am not dismissing how any one of you feels or thinks.
7cups is getting so big, meeting new people bringing on so many great ideas, leading new teams and discussions, forums are ever so growing like weeds too. New admin and some leaving too. New listeners wanting to support others, mods rising up and wanting to make rooms safe and so on...............But still change right?? Overwhelming feelings and thoughts, feeling no one really wants to listen and so on..........I can go on and on. But...........
"As a community how can we rebuild and accept changes?"
Let's together look at some ways we can work towards accepting change:
1. Dealing with Change Intellectually-
Whatever type of change is unsettling you, embrace that feeling. Theres no way youll get past it, if you ignore it and dont work through it. If you embrace your feelings, it will be a lot easier to grow and move on.
* Express your feelings to others, but do so in a polite way
* Take some self care time for you and focus on doing things for self
* Email the admin team with questions/concerns
2. Understand that change is an inevitable part of life-
Before the time comes for you to accept change, learn that it is necessary for old things to go and new things to come. The entire history of the world and the history of humanity can be defined by continual change, evolution and development. Change is part of life and existence, and change often brings new opportunities--sometimes good ones!
3. Try to put change in perspective- It is easy to get overwhelmed by change and let it take control of your emotions, but you can get into a more positive mindset if you take some time to put things into perspective for yourself. For example, you can use these techniques:
Reframe the situation. Ask yourself some questions about the change. For example, Why am I upset or worried about this change? What is it that I believe will happen as a result of this change? Are these thoughts and beliefs accurate and realistic? Going through these questions can help you to determine if the change is really worth worrying about.
List the things that you are grateful for in life. Among its many other benefits, practicing gratitude can help you to feel happier, focus on team things, listen better and overall you will feel the purpose of why you are here on 7cups. Every day, try to write down 5 things for which you are grateful. Add to the list every day. Look at even the small things 7cups has supported you with. How have you helped another and that gave you a special feeling?
4. Look at the bright side of the change- Even though change can have a negative effect on here, in most circumstances, there is always something positive to look at. Use this as an opportunity to turn a loss or negative change into an opportunity or a way to rediscover your zest for 7sips
What NOT to do when CHANGE occurs-
1. We all know gossip really truly hurts those you are talking about. It also wrecks that part of the community. Gossip weather it be true words or false words can get out of hand. Please don't do this. Talk with an ambassador or an admin you feel comfortable with on your concerns.
2. In forums yes share your thoughts and questions and concerns. But a debate or arguement or even sharing screenshots is inappropriate. Use the forums as getting the community to speak out on how they are feeling and also gaining some support. Support one another through these changes.
I offer this check in space to share whatever you need to on change here on 7cups. I just ask that it remain supportive and we support how each other is feeling and thinking. Remember mindfulness does teach on being in the here and now even through hard changes. Love to all of you today

The way I am changing is doing neurofeedback with my therapist and he is hoping to reduce my migraine, get rid of my dizziness, and hopes I will be able to drive in 4 months with this therapy.

@DanaMH

@RumpleSteeleSkin Good morning! :) This is a great post, because change is very important yet difficult for many. I struggled with change for many years until I finally allowed myself to accept changes and adapt the best that I can. I realized that change is what I make of it, and so if I imagine that it will negatively impact me and dread it, then I will never be able to see the positive aspect of change. You offered many great tips and discussed many important points! :)
@SaimaK
HI Saima nice that you are here in check in
Yes change IS very important in life. It helps us in so many ways plus it matures us personally. Secret-I still struggle a bit with change. But I am more open to it-just the unknown to me is scary. But I so love your attitude on change and how you shared it. "Change is what I make of it" I do believe attitude also plays a part in change-plus past experiences. Thank you for sharing so openly here
@RumpleSteeleSkin Thank you! It is nice to see you too! :) And thank you for sharing that with me. Change is never easy, and I am happy that you feel open to share that with me. I understand how the unknown is nerve-wracking, and it really is. But with hope and positivity, change of even the worst type can be turned around, and I hope you will be able to conquer changes every time that they come your way. :)
@SaimaK
I as well as many are doing our best. Thing is all the wonderful support from the community
@RumpleSteeleSkin I am very glad to hear that :) <3
Learning relaxing techniques and using mindfulness has helped me lower anxiety when changes are happening. I still experience anixiety, but with these techniques I am able to keep anixety in check.
Yes, life is ever changing.....Great advice to deal with change.
What I feel is most challenging is adapting to things that are beyond our control. There's just always something new to overcome. Something new to cope with.
What is empowering though is that through the process of coping we become increasingly resilient. Resilience is so important to live a joyful life despite circumstances.
To be mindful of the fact that these coping strategies lead to resilience and joy, I will consider my journey to be that of coal which beomes a diamond 💎😌💖
@Toomuch2say2day
HI 2day nice to see you in check in
Yes unfortunately we can't stop the never ending changes in life-but more so accept them. I do hear you on the challenges on finding things/ways to cope with a change. And for many this sets of uncertainty, less trust that was given out as well as fears. aahhh you said the word RESILLIENCE!!! Yes and yes we learn to cope and to learn to not let our feelings and thoughts to get us into trouble, or change things in a bad way. Love it! And Joy. Change yes can bring so much change to us and also good feelings. Maybe we need to learn on resillience??
I think this is a very good and helpful post too. Funnily enough this fits in perfect with the changes I'm going through at work and why I'm feeling is making change impossible for me to accept. It's cuz I don't like change but I also like things to remain the same and not fear the worse which I so so maybe that's why I don't like change.
I will try these tips and see if it helps.
I was thinking maybe we can have an open discussion on this topic as I think I would benefit alot and so would others. Alot of people here going through through situations what evolves life changes they need support and help with. Can I suggest that for next discussion? This would be interesting topic.
Thank you for sharing this. It's helped alot
@TreaureSeekers3
Hiya Treasure wonderful to see you
Many don't like change-I don't but I'm a bit more accepting to them, and sometimes my voice doesn't need to be the loudest-lol
Work changes can be very hard as well it's like we are programmed to what our responsibilities are. So we are like a robot-go-go-go right. Yes fear does go along with change, idk exactly how to "not" let fear in. Maybe it is letting yourself go with the flow and know you are not in danger?
Yes definately we can talk on a discussion on Minsdulness and Changes in Life. Please can you talk with @soulsings on this? I'm sure they would like to create a discussion
Oh change... oh so difficult, especially if it is a change that you've feared would happen all along. I'm not saying I'm okay with change, most of the time it causes me some severe anxiety just because all of the sudden, a place I once perceived as a place I know well and therefore feel safe in, is somewhere I feel awkward moving around, just because I don't know what might happen when I make a certain move. Usually, I take a couple of steps back when things change and see which way the wind blows. When I've observed enough, I feel safe enough to participate again.
I do have to say though, even when I notice slight changes in 7Cups, they have never bothered me, and here is why: these changes have never taken me by surprise. They were very clearly mentioned in advance, and often admins take great care in explaining everything the best they can and answering questions. That way I don't feel the need to be careful, because I know the changes that were made and I know what I can expect from them. That makes me feel a lot safer and less anxious. What also helps is that people are never, ever judgemental here
@JayTheBird14
HIya Jay wonderful you are here and shared
Yes I agree with you on change being difficult. It then means we are not in our "comfort" safe places like you said. And then this triggers some anxiety. You are not alone in this feeling Jay-me too
But I do like that you shared on stepping back for a bit and just seeing "where the wind blows" is a good way of putting it. Sometimes that is the best thing to do-observe and not react, when you feel safe/ready then join in. I really liked that-thank you! Yes admin do take care in sharing with the community as soon as they know on changes. I am so glad you shared so openly here.
@RumpleSteeleSkin
Thanks for this post Rumple. I find the question "Why am I upset about change" very important, the answers to that question will give us a lot of information about what really bothers our mind.
