Mindfulness Daily Check-In May 30, 2018
Hello everyone and happy WORRY-LESS WEDNESDAY!
How is everyone doing today?
We all have worries that we experience on a day-to-day basis. We can be worried about school. We can be worried about work. We can be worried about our family. We can be worried about bills. Theres always something to be worried about, but despite this, we must practice ways in order to worry less.
There are many ways to worry less, but theres not much time to often dedicate to doing so. So here are some ways to worry less mindfully and quickly!
Learn Acceptance-Based Mindfulness Meditation: Focused on just calmly accepting your inner experiences, such as thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations, by noticing and allowing them to naturally emerge and soften your understanding of them as well as worry as a whole.
Practice Accepting Uncertainty: Become aware of your perfectionistic and over-responsible beliefs, evaluate how they impact your life, and try to overcome your fear of letting them go. Practice allowing yourself to stop worrying when you dont feel like worrying anymore, or when you seem to be stuck in a mental loop, and practice avoiding berating yourself for this. Allow yourself to make mistakes and imperfect decisions as you are only human and dont have to get everything right.
Externalize the Worry: Try to externalize your worries, such as creating a character called "Worried Wendy," and imagine him/her as the one who is constantly worrying and bringing your attention to the negative rather than the positive. Develop a relationship with him/her could try to understand why he/she behaves in this way as well as if he/she developed after experiencing some type of danger, neglect, or overprotection.
Do More of What You Love: Too often we cannot enjoy what we love, and so give yourself that time to enjoy what you love more often. Whether it is daily or four times a week, do what you love and let your worries drift away as a result. Run, hike, camp, read, go to a museum, watch your favorite movie, etc. Let yourself be worry-less by enjoying yourself!
I would love to hear your thoughts!

Wow great ways to worry less! I mean I felt like I needed to control it when i can actually lose control. And I love that. I tend to bottle it up and it makes me feel worse. Also I used to read a lot before a friend insulted me by saying I probably read because I have no friends. Got me real down but its definitely a joy of mine. So maybe I will go back to it daily. :) I need more joy. Is worrying normal?
@Chocolateandcakes Hi Chocolate!
Thank you! And I completely understand what you mean, but bottling it up doesn't necessarily equate to us being able to control it. We should allow ourselves to accept and understand our worries as they are indeed normal. They are our body's natural instinct to help protect ourselves in a variety of ways. Reading is amazing, and that was not right of your friend to say. Books are a great way to worry less, and if that is a joy of yours, definitely start reading daily again!
Take care, and I hope you have a wonderful and mindful day!

@SaimaK
Hi SaimaK, good to see you again.
Worries, worries, worries, they can change our reality completely, constantly under tension - a rough place to be.
What mindful ways do you utilize to worry less? I use mindfulness meditation for less worrying but for me a key element to get off the worry train is simply to remind myself over and over again of situations in which i worried a lot and all turned out okay in its way at the end.
What are your thoughts on these mindful ways to worry less? The more i find trust in myself and future the less i worry.
@amiablePeace77 Hi Peace!
It's good to see you again as well!!!
I completely agree. Worries have quite a strong impact on us. Mindfulness meditation and reminding ourselves that things always end up turning out okay are great ways to help us worry less as well as help slowly diminish our worries towards other things going forward. Trust in yourself definitely is a huge way to help diminish worry, and I hope you continue to gain more trust in yourself.
Take care, and I hope you have a wonderful and mindful day!

@SaimaK I love to think of ways to worry less.
What mindful ways do you utilize to worry less? For me the best way is to get the job done. Do what needs to be done so I stop worrying. If I cannot do anything about my worry, then I want to start working on something I can do something about. Action is another way to be mindful. When I am acting and being aware of what I am doing, then the thought train fades into the background.
@soulsings Hi Soul!
Getting the job done, or working on getting something done, is a great way to worry less. Action is also helpful as pushes thoughts aside and helps bring your focus to the present! These are great! Thank you for sharing, Soul!
Take care, and I hope you have a wonderful and mindful day!

Really hard to be mindful today. Today I went to a pysc MD to figureout if she could transfer me to a different provider even outside of the bulding to another company and she said I don't need a pysc MD. So confusing when others think I do. Cryed for 4 hours and then saw my therapist and he got my hope up again and was kind, understanding and we talked.
@Havingfuninthesnow Hi snow!
I'm so sorry to hear that!
I really hope things are able to improve, but I am so happy that your therapist was able to cheer you back up! Don't give up hope and I hope these mindful ways to worry-less help you feel better as well. Take care, and I hope you have a wonderful and mindful day!

@SaimaK
Saima thank you for filling in for me today-wonderful job!!

This is what I am doing and continue to do. But some things are bit harder to just accept. Some take a bit longer to accept. I think what helps to acceot the weirdness in things is affective communication. And not just given something lame-you know.
Thank you again for this great informative check in. No worries
