NO-NO-NOOOOOOOOO!!!

It is one of those days you know. Oh yes- I know that you know this feeling very welllaugh We all have inner tantrums due to responsibilities, work, family, maybe even wanting our own ways in things-idk. But we have them- no argueing WE DOcheeky lol

It is fine to have an emotional outburst. At least that is what I'm told at times. But really how can we be mindful of emotions really wrecking havoc in our innards? How do we get emotions not to "simmer" over?

By slowing our minds, our bodies. Taking that time to walk away respectfully and find some place where we can gather ourselves and do a quick check in, or cry, or scream. We need those "time outs" as they call them. We really do-honest.

For me I am personally trying this in many ways here. I will let people know I need to go and we will resuime whatever we are doing in a little bit. Then I focus on me. Weather it be talking to Noni, getting up and playing with my animals, hitting some pillows, taking dogs for a walk, eating something sweet or spicy.

What are some ways you "calm" yourself from a tantrum- yes I said it TANTRUM lol Please share as we can all help each othersmileyheart

Some ways I calm myself from a tantrum :

take things one things at a time so I am not overwhelmed

make " me" time every day - even if 30 minutes

have a self care rutine

meditate

do not let others sucks my energy dry

boundraies

stand up for myself

say no when i have to

sleep in when i can - even if i have to go to bed early to do so

papmper myself

think of the facts and take out emotions

thoughts logs

and sometimes - just say, okay - if i do this adulting thin now - ill rewardmyelf later with-----.

@RumpleSteeleSkin hmm, can't seem to remember the last time I had a good tantrum surprise not too sure whether that's a good thing or a bad thing! Definitely when I was younger it would've been the classic kicking of chairs and slamming of doors before probably collapsing in bed and crying. These days I try to block everything out with headphones or I think particularly the contrabass can be a good one for getting out anger (playing it, not attacking it wink thinking about it, it'd probably win in a fight anyway!) I guess it's sort of similar, for me at least, to listening to thunder storms which I also tend to find relaxing... Guess the tones sort of feel like they connect or ease the tense-ness, who knows cheeky Course there'll be times where there's less self control and might become self destructive, not the best way to go but hey. And then if it's a situation where there's no escape from what or whoever has brought on those feelings then I think it's usually just a case of getting extremely tense and focussing on breathing until I can relax again or get away.

Silence hello great to see you in check-in todaysmiley hahaha Silence that so reminded me of my kids when they were little. Oh they sure did throw those tantrums-lol. For you is blocking things out good for you? It is good to hear that when things get a bit intense you focus on breathing until you get relaxed. I enjoyed what you shared here, I always get a "nugget" from everyones sharings heresmileyheart

@RumpleSteeleSkin Glad to hear it smiley Thinking about blocking things out, whilst it certainly helps in the moment, I guess maybe it's not the best long term since things tend to build up internally which periodically comes out as some form of self destruction - easier to rationalise and deal with taking yourself through each issue as it comes up than to have a tidle wave of mixed up things all hit at once... But then again I guess it can all depend on the day, the situation, the mind frame at that time and so on *shrugs* (I've absolutely no idea whether or not any of that makes any sense! Appologies it not cheeky)

i do not really have tantrums but if something annoys me too much i would walk away find space where i am alone and talk to myself, talking out my anger, then thinking sometimes also loud (provided I am alone) how i could have delt with the situation better, back at home eventually explain what happened to my husband or my gf and then meditate. so basically let it out until nothing can be said anymore and then finding peace inside.
