Mindfulness Daily Check-In October 29

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Mindfulness daily check-in! heart I hope everyone is doing well. smiley My question to you, "What do you think about when lying down?"

Lying down is, of course, an act of rest. But too often when we lie down we rest the body while still working the mind. How many times have you gone to bed worrying about the next day? Such moments are not genuine rest, and they certainly are not conducive to good sleep.

So, here is how we can practice mindfulness while lying down to rest.

When lying down with the body, we should lie down with the mind too. To do this, focus the mind on the body. Focus on the body at rest.

Begin by focusing on the crown of your head. Notice what sensations are there. Is there any tension? If so, imagine breathing fresh air into that area. The fresh air relaxes. It carries away the tension.

Once the crown of your head is relaxed, move down to your forehead and repeat the process there.

Continue one step at a time, progressing through your eyes, nose, mouth, neck and so on, all the way to your feet.

Your entire body will now be utterly relaxed. Focus on it. Be mindful of your entire body. Particularly be aware of the sense of relaxation. Keep the mind there, your consciousness evenly spread across your whole body.

This is lying down in mind as well as in body. It is an immensely relaxing experience and one of the best ways of refreshing the mind.

Let me know your thoughts below! yes

@compassion4you14

Compassion hismiley Thank you for this wonderful check-in. I truthfully don't include my brain to lay and rest. Worry alot, as I'm told its normal and natural. But we know we can really worry, and not lay the body to rest for another day. I am going to remind myself on this later on tonight, and hopefully I can too lay my brain to rest. Thank you for this remindersmileyheart

@RumpleSteeleSkin

Hiya Rumple! Thanks for checking in today and sharing a bit with us. I agree with you that worrying is normal and natural but it's also important to leave all worries aside for one day and focus on ourselves. I'm glad that today you have decided to put your mind at rest as well! Good luck with that! smiley

Wow this is a really good method to practice mindfulness and to just relax I find that when I try to let my worries go while listening to music, sometimes the music stimulates my mind even more :') so I really like that now I can try another method. Thank you

@blissedNblessed

Hey, Bliss! Im sorry to see that youve been feeling angry, and I hope that since your post, that the feeling has been able to subside, and youve found some peace that you were looking for.

I know that this guided meditation on calming anger is in the Resource Library within our Mindfulness Community, but I copied the link from my YouTube account because I have my favorites saved, and this is one of them.

You might like this one. Hope it helps, and if not, maybe try for another day <3

I'm just battling depression and stressed at its finest and sometimes taking the time alone to rejuvenate can become very beneficial to your body's health and mindset.

Hey everyone good to see you all here this bright yet warm still MondaysmileyThanks Silent for this check in. Wow hmm.What do I really think about when I'm laying down? Am I mindful? wow-....

Well for one-I do have to have the fan on or at times not yet I have my window a bit opened. I have to feel some cool air moving around-like always. I know I'm weirdo-lol Also lotion on my legs and feet, this helps them to not over heat and well I get some sleep. I have restless leg syndrom. I get my pillows the way I like them, and 2 that lay on top of each other-they hold my big tablet up so I can watch Netflix. Once comfy, I am aware I am right on my phone to play my 2 games or check on my emails. Netflix goes on.........

Wow I am not mindful of me laying in my bedsurpriseWell tinight I will do things differently and try and focus on other things then my electronics in bedsmileyALSO I won't judge myself for what I do either!!

When I lie down, I usually think about my day and the things I need to do

User Profile: JayTheBird14

I have actually done this quite often before, do a 'body check-in' as we like to call them in our yoga class. I usually like to do a bit of stretching before going to bed too, before doing this exercise. I like the feeling of my limbs just sinking into the bed all relaxed and loose. It helps me to remind myself how I want my mind to feel like too. All relaxed, ready for a good rest.

Wanted to share this picture I found online today too smiley

I am learning to pay attention to senses that I otherwise tune out

1. The sound of my cat sleeping

2. The way the air on my living room feels on my forehead

3. My pulse in my pinky
