Mindfulness Daily Check-In September 10, 2017
Hey, everyone! Its Sunday, and its time to think about food. Yes, you read that right: food!!

Eating is one of the easiest activities to rush through. We typically eat and drink fast so that we can arrive at the next activity in our lives. Its unfortunate that this happens because foods are meant to be savored and enjoyed just as much as they are meant to give us energy. Mindful eating can help us slow down and enjoy our food, giving us a new appreciation for and experience with eating.
Fun and easy mindful activity
When you are hungry today, find a piece of food or something to drink and mindfully eat it or drink it. Be wholly present to the food or drink. If your mind wanders or you become distracted, acknowledge that it wandered and return to mindfully eating.
You can notice these characteristics about your food or bevarage: What packaging is it in? Do you need to use an utensil to eat it? What does its texture feel like? What are its colors? What does it smell like? What does it taste like? Is it hot, cold, cool, or warm? Are you grateful for the food and the people who make it?
If you do this mindfulness exercise today, feel free to share your experience below!
Questions:
1. What food did you mindfully eat?
2. What did you notice while you mindfully ate?
3. How did you feel after mindfully eating your food?

Hey, Rumple! Thank you for checking-in today
All of the food you listed just sounds so mmmmmm.
I have noticed that when I mindfully eat, I tend to feel when I am full and not go back for more as well! That's a good point.
@EmunahHere - i really need to work on this. I eat too fast!
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn thank you for checking-in, Krink! :)
Yes, I eat too fast at times as well. It's hard to slow down and enjoy food when we have so many things going on in our lives, and it seems that eating becomes an obstacle or a time to complete another activity.
Hopefully, if we practice mindful eating, we can change that :)
@EmunahHere
I have never thought about food like this. I am going to try and do this and will definitely come back to you.
Thank you for posting this. I'm glad more people will get a chance to try it. I have actually made this practice a part of my diet. I eat less and am more satisfied. Super useful if you ask me. Worth trying at least once. I'm excited to see how people like it.
@EmunahHere
what food i ate today, coconut soup with egg plants and a big salad, desert was a fresh pomegranite apple from the tree. the apple was incredibly juicy, small seeds and sweet flesh around. when i ate it i felt a kind of crunch which left me with a feeling of freshness, natural taste and purity.
@EmunahHere wonderful post and eating is something we do every day so a great way to practice mindfulness.
1. What food did you mindfully eat? Peaches
2. What did you notice while you mindfully ate? The sweet taste, the firm texture, the liquid juices, the after taste
3. How did you feel after mindfully eating your food? I felt it was a great joy!
Thanks for sharing this.
@soulsings Thank you for checking-in, Soul! :)
Peaches are so delicious. No doubt!
It is very true that we can feel joy when we mindfully eat, so it's awesome that you got to experience that feeling! :)
When we mindfully eat, it's almost as if eating is enhanced, and we begin to notice characteristics of our foods that we hadn't considered before.
Yes, since we eat every day, eating is a great way to squeeze in some mindfulness practice. Great reminder, Soul!
