Mindfulness Daily Check-In Tuesday April 24

Do you know that one in five person suffers from an anxiety disorder and depression affects nearly of the total American population. These numbers and percentage are somewhat same in most of the nations. As soon we going to enter in May which also known as Mental Health Awareness Month, these figures reflect our needs for coping strategies to help us cope up with our mental health issues.
One of the good things is that with simple and small changes in our lifestyle we could minimize the impact of mental health issues and gain a better mental well being. Mindfulness is one of those simple and effective coping strategy we could practice to get help to control our anxiety, depression, or just our daily stress.
Mindfulness has two major components that work to bring a positive impact in your daily lifestyle.
1. Awareness- to allow you to notice your emotions, feelings, all kind of thoughts and self talks. Just by noticing and recognising them could allow you to have more flexible response to them and allow you to keep emotions in check and better control.
2. Open Minded and Accepting Mindset - it allows you to accept whatever happening rather than just try to avoid or neglect them or making it bigger than it is in actual. When you accept your emotions openly, your struggles with inner thoughts get reduced and able to focus on resources and ways to deal with them positively.
To control your emotions, you can practice STOP technique.
Slow down when you experiencing an emotion.
Take a breathe
Observe reaction of your body, thoughts and emotions, and
Process your possibilities to deal with them and proceed to make it better.
I hope you find this technique helpful.

How are you doing?
- So excited that today is the last day that I have to see the pysc MD that I fired and they are giving me a new person.
What is one thing you would love to learn about in Mental Health Awareness Month? Or, is there anything you would like to share and teach us in May? Share with us and we will prepare ahead!!
- Under observe it says that my thoughts will go away and aren't facts. Then those things I am thinking that are facts what are they called?

Another great topic Obs!!
How am I doing?
Totally coping with a migraine -- so trying to roll with the flow. It's not helping with productivity any -- nor much else really. It's making for an odd week - and lots of obstacles are piling in to on top of this -- so it's up, over, and through ... but eh - can't fix it, can't change it, can't escape it, so just roll with it, just go with it.

What is one thing you would love to learn about in Mental Health Awareness Month?
How can we de-stigmatize mental health issues? Remove the taboo? Break the "hide it in the attic syndrome"?
I think the celebrities using their position to destigmatize and sharing their it is helping. Cluing in legislators to the importance of mental health access?

Or, is there anything you would like to share and teach us in May?
I want to share the importance of the PAUSE. The pause is a powerful tool in living, speaking, and coping.
We pause in speech - to let a point hang in emphasis and to give the audience a moment to catch up in thought.
We must learn to pause elsewhere in our lives. A pause is a moments recovery. A pause is a breathe admist a storm. A pause is a stillness that beckons you - linger for a moment.
In our fast paced lives -- we forget to pause. In our on-demand world -- we forget to pause.
Pause... really pause.... rest your hands... rest your minds... rest your worries... set aside the world and count slowly to 30 - taking deep breathes that fill your abdomen and releasing them as you go. Do not rush - linger in your count. Now pause, count backwards from 30 -- slowly lingering in the numbers. Be conscience of your posture - be conscience of your shoulders. Open your frame and breathe -- in the pause. Be conscience as you undo the orgami that stress has done to your body - straighten your back as you breathe, move your shoulders back from their curled-forward position, relax and let your head be over your spine. Breathing -- pausing -- taking note of how different your body is right now. How breathing in has changed you .... how a one minute of conscience pause has changed you physically and mentally.
Remember the pause --- the power of pause is yours.

I can go on forever about the Power of Pause.... but I'll pause here. :D
@ASilentObserver
Hia Silent thank you for this
Not sure what to share on this. But no matter what mental illness or disability you have. You can accomplish anything
Hey Obs, thank you for this check-in. I really appreciate the helpful images you provide, the STOP acronym is one that is very useful. I am doing okay today. One thing I would like to learn is perhaps how to spread more awareness and to help others in Mental Health Awareness Month. If there's anything we can do to help break this 'taboo' of keeping mental health quiet and get more people to feel comfortable talking about it; I think it would be great if we could discuss this topic.
i agree to what was said before by pepperminlove and others too. it is important to take the stigma away, to make others aware, talk about it not be quiet. make it easier for people to say: hey i have ...... so that's why i cannot focus/remember or whatever. taking away the fear to mention it to make themselves understood and allowing others to understand, also understand that it can affect everyone.

Well the day was very mindful until my pysc MD appt when I felt the team lied to me when they told me if I fired him today I would be getting a female pysc MD and they told me her name. So disappointed in the team. Ready to fire them all on 7/1 when I get my new insurance.
