Ello Lovely Community! Obs feeling to procratinate today. sad However, practice of mindfulness pushing him to do and so he is here with you all. smiley

He hates when he has something need to do, but don't want to do or not feeling encouraged to do it. Don't you hate it? surprise He knows most of us procrastinate at some point but some of us just find certain obligations as unwanted and try to postpone which result in a downward emotions. So, what to do to beat our procrastination attitude?

And when he asks this question to himself, he finds he need to find out the reasons why he is procrastinating? And, here are some reasons he thinks apply on most of us for procrastinating.

yes When we know that specific task will require more efforts and energy. Thought of it pushes us to procrastinate the task. Writing a long post, working on presentation are few of the tasks that take good amount of efforts and energy. Due to which we lose the motivation and vision to do the task. And end up delaying it.

yes "Oh this one, it's so easy. I'll do it later." For many tasks and activities, we think it is so easy for us. Many times, we have so many todo lists that we screen them and pick the one that seems more important over others and after days of doing same with it, we lose motivation to finish these tasks. So, thought of doing later at times end up as doing never.

yes I want to put more efforts on it. Want to be perfect with my thoughts. And, at times idea of achieveing perfection, we procrastinate stuffs. Like, one of my fellow mate always find my silly grammar mistakes in my posts. cheeky They always mention why don't you run Grammarly to fix your silly mistakes and give it a fine look. surprise What if I do so? Probably I would never able to finish one single post because writing has first rule, "Pen Down all thoughts without editing it." Because our mind rushes with so many thoughts simultaneously that if we pause and think to edit, the potential thoughts may fade away from memory. So, its okay to be flawed as long as in every attempt you trying to improve your flaws. laugh

yes While writing this post, I was unclear about how to get started? And, I think I am not alone who experience this unclarity. We all do. So, better if we use "Get things done" approach to do tasks. When you take this approach, it will allow you to divide a big block of task into small chunks that could allow you to do them easily without experiencing the thought of how and where to get started?

yes surprise and most importantly, distractions. They always make us delay our tasks due to some or other distractions. Working on a presentation and got a call from a dear friend. Picked call and talked with them for next 30 minutes and the minute call ended, boss called, or meeting time. So, distractions are friends of procrastination. Beat the distraction, procrastination will be defeated. Sounds like a slogan? cheeky

We all experience the impact of procrastination in our daily lives and in long run as well. And it brings the significance of being mindful about our needs and priorities.

yes So, how helpful did you find today's thought?

yes What are somethings that you procrastinating?

yes And, what are some other ways to beat our procrastination? Let's share and discuss together!! Yay!

Obs feeling good after getting victory over procrastination now! cool *** Group Hugs***

I totally agree with all of those reasons for procrastination and I think just being aware of them can help to curb the problem. I usually procrastinate because I know a task is going to take a lot of effort or I want to be able to come to the task with a perfect attitude or something unachievable like that. Once I just dive into a task that I'm procrastinating, though, I always feel better!

@ASilentObserver I found today's thought extremely helpful as I have been thinking these things as well. You outlined every common procrastination case/reason very well, and I am definitely experiencing them all at the moment (if not most). I am currently procrastinating on thinking on what to do for my honors project. And so, I keep pushing it off for now. However, other ways to beat procrastination that I have used before is avoid pressuring myself to let ideas come to me naturally. In addition to this, I often make a list as to what I have to do/write/find for a specific task, which helps me feel more organized and less overwhelmed.

@ASilentObserver

We actually discussed procrastination in university today. We've got to write or final thesis and of course the way that it's supposed to be 10.000 words alone is enough for people to procrastinate like their lives depend on it.

I actually figured that we should start a little writing club. Me and a couple of friends are going to be meeting once a week for four hours in which we're going to write in 25 minute intervals with 5 minute breaks. It's fun, we got specific hours planned to write, and we can keep eachother going along the way. I really hope it'll work laugh

@ASilentObserver I am a procrastinator but some days I am just not in the right frame of mind. If I have to do it I do it but if not I start making notes and sleep on it. When I do things early in the day it is often less of a problem.

When I am inspired to do something is the best time to do it. Then it is effortless. Some things just never inspire me.

Posting here is something I like because I usually feel better afterward laugh

I don't like making Dental appointments or doctor's appointments and I don't like making phone calls because I often have to deal with Surly receptionist tones of voice. I put them off as long as possible the last time I put off my dental the last time I got a big hole in one of my teeth.

I don't like dealing with any problem that requires human interaction or or communication.

I also don't like paying bills because I often have login issues on my accounts.

breaking them down and small chunks does help and breathing helps mantras and meditation help.
