I just recently started putting down boundaries for the first time, and saying NO.

I was terrified they would not be respected or listened to - but I did it anyways.

My sister wanted me to go out to visit her in the middle of the night when I had an appointment at 930 am the next day - knowing this was not what I wanted and it was not healthy for me, I said NO.

She did throw a little fit - but that is on HER, NOT me. I stuck to the boundary I put down - NO.

And I felt NO guilt about it :)

SELF CARE :)

I can NOT say no. Like I just can't unless I'm actually, physically not able to do something, for some reason I'm always willing to try, even it I won't get anything in return. I know where it comes from, my mom is exaclty the same. And I know it's not healthy, my stress levels are actually so high I make myself sick sometimes.

I guess that when someone asks me for something, it's just my standard answer and I guess I should be more mindful about answering but yeah... it's kinda difficult. And saying yes is such an easy thing to do...

@JayTheBird14

I can relate to it Jay. However, Saying NO is a necessity for us to be mindful of oneself. It is tough to say NO but we can always try and make efforts towards it. :)

I have issues to say No too, i do not like to leave people alone and just walk away, the picture comes up showing a person looking for help and just being left on their own (guilt). Not saying no learned me to regret because i cannot help when exhausted or under pressure. so yes, it is about bounderies and they are important.

@amiablePeace77

Agree with you Peace. Saying NO becomes more difficult when you step up in others' shoes and compare it with your past where you needed help and somehow didn't get. So we know how it feels when you dont get help and probably thats one of the reasons that stop us to say no. Though its more about being mindful and boundaries. We need to make a better choice. Thank you for sharing your insights with us. Yay!Hugs

@ASilentObserver

Oh wow Silent are you hiding in the walls by me? lol This week this very thing "NO" has been so hard. From here to working my job to my kids and pets. Does that make me a "softie" or a person with less boundaries?? I don't think so. For me I just have to be mindful of me first. Of what I have to do, before I let others into my space-free time. It is a hard thing to do sometimes as then comes rejection, or the people just don't ask you no more. So for me it is important to learn how many "yes" I say and how much time Im committing to others but also not being so selfish of my timesmiley

wonderful Silent yesheart

@Mellietronx

hmm could understand Mellie. Saying no is not easy for many of us I think. But probably we can make a try to practice and setting boundaries to be more self-aware about one's need?

Feel like I am saying yes to my family A LOT and they are not saying yes to me. I think they need to say yes to me more.
