Mindfulness Daily Checkin January 12,2018
Talking on phone while getting ready for office and
, where are my socks?
Having lunch while working on a presentation side by side
Talking with someone over a chat or on phone and using fillers, hmm, hmm, oh, yeah, ok.... Listening but not listening. Probably mind travelling to Frankfurt.
Watching movie while eating snacks and
where did the snacks went? who ate it?
It happens with you and me many times. Probably also happen same with most of the people. So, anytime when your mind isn't fully focused and distracted in what you doing is absence of mindfulness. It happens mostly when you try to do multitasking.
You partying with friends and mind worried about if you not prepare presentation, tomorrow could be your last day at office.
Walking down the streets while looking at your phone or texting someone. And suddenly realize, mom is still in mall doing shopping.
Point to be noted is distractions cause lack of mindfulness. If you want to be mindful, slow down and focus on one task at a time.
So, when you experience absence of mindfulness? What could we do to be mindful?

HA-HA-HA OMG is this me a lot of times
As a parent sometimes it's like that in order to get things done-RIGHT?
NO- it is me who isn't being mindful of my time. Prioratizing things, making sure I have those healthy boundaries on my time.
I know I have to cook dinner but why am I still on the computer or laying in bed? For me these are my words for me-only POOR CHOICES
Silent thank you so much for yet another mindful reminder.Time is precious
@ASilentObserver one thing I have to do when my mind is racing is to slow down. Other people think I am going too slow, but if I am stressed, slowing down is needed for me to be mindful. So instead of moving in high speed and maybe having a mishap I am super cautious and do things as slow as I need to to be safe.
@soulsings thats so true soul. Thank you for sharing such amazing thought.
@ASilentObserver you are welcome.
@ASilentObserver
when i experience absence of mindfulness that means i am not conscious again, i am rushing. i try to bring my attention back to what i am doing and do only one thing after another, no fast task switching.
@ASilentObserver
I struggle even coming up with a list. I feel very out of control of my thoughts sometimes. Even if I were to sit in silence, my mind would spin and run through everything at once. So it seems like I have a very weak will of mind which brings on a lof of self disappointment. I need help on this.
@Maddz4Christ
What really helps for me when I can't shut my brain up is meditating. You sit down however you like (there are people who dislike the meditation position) but make sure your back and neck are straight but relaxed. Then you just breathe, and focus utterly and completely on your breathing. Nothing else, just the breathing. And when you find that you start wandering again, back to the breathing. In the beginning it's hard, but eventually it gets easier. Short guided meditation sessions from youtube or the 7cups site or app might also be helpfull.
I truly hope this could help you find the peace and quiet in your head again. Take care
I feel like I go on autopilot for most of my day. I'm not it school or working, so it's mostly just internet and tv for me. I find that I glide through days and sometimes it's even hard to remember what I ate in a day. Yesterday I was in a place with no wifi and no people (oh no!) so instead I journaled, played a calming game on my phone, and enjoyed my lunch with no distractions.
@BlueMossWeaver27 isn't that wonderful when we get a technology mini vaca? Just "stop and smell the roses"
Oh man I'm a multitasking maniac! Even when I do relaxing, enjoyable activities I still do multiple at the same time. I don't do it on purpose, it just happens. But when I do catch myself, and focus on the task at hand (mostly important/difficult tasks that take all of my attention to finish) I notice that I can finish it way quicker than when I was distracted by other things.
I'm not really managing my multitasking yet, but I do have an evening ritual just to quiet my mind. And that ritual is an hour of doing very simplistic tasks, one at the time. So I guess that's also the reason why it calms me down so much. I finally focus on one thing, instead of four or five at the time.
Don't think I can ever fully stop being a multitasking maniac, but maybe I could be more mindful of it in the future.
