One strategy I use to stay calm during the day is.....
If Im standing, I need to sit down. And sometimes I need to put pressure under my rib cage because that is where it hurts when I have anxiety attacks.
@KateStarr13 There has been some research that wearing hoodies or blankets to exert light pressure on the body helps with anxiety. If you have to press under your ribcage this may work for you.
Art work, herbal tea & chilled music!
I try to be mindful, let myself be aware of my soroundings and try to find interesting details in comon things. It quiets my mind for some time.
Also another thing I use is a trick I learned a long time ago. If I can't stop thinking about the same negative thing, I forcefully imagine it being shrunk into a ball and then I use an imaginary bat to strike it away to the other side of the universe, and I picture it disappearing in the distance. After that, usually I can think of something else other than that negative subject. And it doesn't come up again for a while.
I go to the gym and work out . It helps me forget for a while .
Breathing exercises do miracles for me!
I normally put on chill music like misguided ghosts by paramore or Dodie and I draw things or paint it depends on how bad I'm feeling that day sometimes I get ice cream then walk to the beach and read in a tree if it was a real bad day
Listening to music and working on cars.
Reasoning my thoughts
@Laura I try to listen to music, (old music) and i take a bath. I shut off all my social media platforms and really try to reflect on all the positives in my life
