Skills may not be enough.....
Awesome Community, Hello!!
I hope your mindfulness practice going great.
Learning skills to be mindful might not be enough. Learning and acquiring is good but without practice how to know if you're good at implementation too?
You might say that you're good with practice. Sounds good but the gap between what you can do and what you actually do can be narrowed down to a great extent by the mindfulness notion. We talk and learn about mindfulness but how about if we put mindfulness in our learning and practice to be better?
Wouldn't it be great? I think so. What do you think?
You know I experienced during my academic period that there is a difference between students and toppers. Though both learn in same class, same textbooks, same teacher and almost same study techniques too. So, if all were same, what created the difference?
There was a slight difference which I observed and experienced. The difference is TTT (Transfer Through Teach).
The students who study and teach the same to others with an ease were able to retain and reproduce the studied contents well at any point of time. Teaching has its own perks. It helps you to transfer your knowledge to someone as well as improve your focus, retention and recall abilities of mind. Also, you enjoy the knowledge.
Everyone learn same thing but many not able to produce or retain it for a longer period because they acquiring the knowledge but not mindful about transferring it to others.
So, how about if we do same for the mindful skills? Not just learn and acquire but transfer through teach.
It will help you to have a good practice of specific skill.
You will enjoy the mindfulness.
You could learn new or different dimensions of specific skill which you might missed.
You would be able to retain and improve the skill better.
So, what are we waiting for? Let's develop skills through the skill of teaching and spread mindfulness.

Hi, I have been a teacher and I found that it does help consolidate the learning memories, I never really thought of it as a mindful practice though so I will try and add in that dimension.
Its funny how sharing in a group can be the best way to actually be mindful, I love group work, seeing how others interact, I suppose I am a people watcher and add that into my meditation group.
Have a great week!
@ASilentObserver Hi Obs!
How are you? I hope you are having a wonderful Monday so far!
Please let me know if you find this skill helpful or not? Share your thoughts and we will learn, acquire and improve these skills together. Thank you!!
I think this is just an amazing and helpful skill! Teaching has always helped me to better understand and learn something that I am currently or have previously learned. I noticed that doing check-ins myself now in addition to responding to other check-ins and more have helped me to better learn, acquire, and improve my mindfulness skills! Such an amazing post, Obs!!!

@SaimaK
You are so right SaimaK!
@amiablePeace77 Thank you, Peace!

Teaching is a great tool, because before we can teach or recommend something we have to gather information, try it , internalize it and keep on doing it.
@ASilentObserver- this is a great idea. Learning by teaching I learn so much this way. Interested in mindfulness teaching? Send https://www.7ups.com/@soulsings a pm and we will see how you coiuld start out cohosting as a listener and or hosting if you are also a group mod.
So, how about if we do same for the mindful skills? Not just learn and acquire but transfer through teach.
It will help you to have a good practice of specific skill. For me followling the breath works good or just being aware of my surroundings and take a break from my thoughts.
You will enjoy the mindfulness. When I get into a regular practice it is no longer work but joy.
You could learn new or different dimensions of specific skill which you might missed. For me there is always a new level of awareness. I am always finding out new things.
You would be able to retain and improve the skill better.. I actually feel the more I practice mindfulness the more easily and naturally it happens.
So, what are we waiting for? Let's develop skills through the skill of teaching and spread mindfulness. What am I aware of now?
