I welcome anyone to commit to a goal here today.

But importantly, talk about getting it done..... or why it didn't happen yet.

To praise each other for our efforts and wins.

While supporting each other through trials and setbacks.

And to continue trying and not give up.

Remember:
Every Goal should be considered "Worthy".
Never belittle your achievements and be proud of yourself for your daily accomplishments!
Whether they be Complex or Simple.
Getting out of bed is a good day..... Good job I say!

Share your goals today, for support and encouragement.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do Your Best and Get Your rest.
Things are usually much harder then we think. Do your best. Be kind to yourself and Be kind to others.

Well today I'm finishing the paper for the final assignment. I think the course ends tomorrow so I don't really have a choice. Got an email from the professor saying I'm a trailblazer. Not sure if it's sincere or if it's just a form email. Don't really feel like I'm doing anything special. Yes, I'm doing what feels like fifty things all at once but many people do that.

Have to remember to pay my phone bill. It's due in six days. Will have to go to the store this afternoon and get more water even though there's a heat warning in effect (again). Hopefully the buses won't be delayed. It's easier to go on Mondays since the dog had me over the weekend and won't fret too much if I'm back later than normal.

Speaking of buses, I have to start getting off at the stop before me. There's a girl who has started getting off at the stop that I used to get off at. She works in the building across the street from me. I used to let everyone else get off before me because I get to my office early but the last time she wouldn't get off until I did and if no one gets off in a timely manner, the bus driver goes to the next stop and that's further away. This morning she got off where people get on and she was going to wait for me. I went around the bus even though the stop is down from my office and, well, to avoid potential conflict, I'll just get off at the stop before and walk up. I know I shouldn't have to but it's my fault for having to take the bus in the first place so the inconvenience may as well be mine too. I'd take the earlier bus but that would require me getting up at three to get the dog her exercise before I go and that seems to be more of an inconvenience than walking up from a previous stop.

Submitted the last assignment. Now I should go back and look at the comments for the last three assignments. Got assigned the monthly tasks at work so I should look at those. I'm sure there's something else that I need to do which I've forgotten...

So the email from the professor was generic. I went back and looked at the remarks on the previous assignments. She says I'm not formatting correctly and there are no citations or a reference page. But there are. The all caps went off of my heading for some reason so I resubmitted that but I don't get about the reference page and the missing citations. She also says that the layout is wrong. I'm using the same layout that I've used on all my previous assignments. If 1-6 were correct aside from some minor things, then why are 7-10 incorrect? Every single assignment, I've used a previous assignment as a template so I don't get the formatting wrong.

@IsayUncle I have no idea. It'll just be easier to get off a stop before. The extra distance won't kill me.

This morning I took the bus to it's turn and got off and walked the mile up to work. Got there about the time I would have if I had taken the connection. I could have gotten to work earlier because I could have gotten the connection. There are new drivers on the routes so the schedules are screwed up for a bit until the drivers get to know the routes. I didn't know the other bus was behind us until it pulled out in front of the one I was on. Then it was too late to change. The way the schedules run, there's like a couple of minutes between the one I normally catch and the earlier connection. Too close for comfort especially when mine runs late (which it does from time to time) so I don't tend planning on catching that one.

The walk was a little hard on my legs but at least I'm not causing trouble for anyone.

@IsayUncle so apparently she doesn't work Thurs-Fri so I can get off at my normal stop those days.

@Enthenia

That's good but it's still too bad you have to deal with such immature and juvinile behavior through no fault of your own. It's too bad she brings conflict to your day

YAY, she's not there for a couple of days.

it seems she's trying to pick a fight with you, or something, which would probbly be better to avoid. i hope it all mellow's out over time.

@IsayUncle so today I noticed her on the bus and I made a note to get off at the stop before. But as I was walking up, I noticed that the bus didn't even stop at the next stop. If it wasn't necessary to get off there, why get off? I did notice when this person started riding on the bus, that there was some hesitation about getting off where I do or did. The person has never spoken to me but I saw some familiarity with a couple of FedEx workers (there's a depot across the street) who'd get off where I do so I assumed that the girl worked there.

@IsayUncle

 I’m still journaling !! Woo hoo!! 🙌

This week though, has just got to be getting my 🍑 to work. I’m just starting back after a medical leave and it’s important to get myself into a schedule and manage. I’ve done it before I can do it again.

Wooo whooo is right1 That's great. Are you liking it?

I hope your medical leave was not too serious, but of course, any medical stuff is serious enough. I hope you're doing OK now.

you can get back in the groove. It might take a minute so don't get discouraged. 😊

I am liking it. It’s mostly of what i am grateful for and what feelings arise with that.

Lately, yes, it has been not getting discouraged with myself. I had spinal surgery on my neck. Yuck! 3 month recovery. Absolutely exhausted and then the feelings worthlessness come up. Can I give myself a break already?

@peachThinker662

I'm glad ur liking the journaling. it's good to write down the good things because they seem to be the first feelings to dissapate and be forgotten, as problems arise. So i think that is a great approach. GOOD JOB! 😀

i found the more i liked it the more wrote things down to encourage me through the day. not exactly journaling but definetly in one book. Maybe like a diary/goal mixed dialouge, with a cup of emotions mixed in. but it reaaly helped.

I had lower back surgey and it helped a lot. Up around the neck is more seriuos so i'm sending wyou best wishes for healing.

Things on hold for 3 months will discourage everyone, just about I think. Try not worsen it by going down that rabbit hole of self doubt. if you're getting filled with self doubt,,, then u have to fight and can't take a break now. If you accept the situation without blaming yourrself for things.... then it should be ok to take a break.

With that said, if your body and brain is just forcing you to shut dwn..... TAKE A BREAK! That's nature taking over saying, "you need to recharge". Nothing bad about that and you'll feel better afterwards.

I'm sorry i'm not checking my thread daily because of financial resposibilities.(Ape sized monkeys on my back)  Sorry for the late reply but i hope you managed well this week.

Today I will get the background checks finished for some monthly assignments. Need to start on he other one. Hopefully I can get to where I can look at the grades for the last two assignments for my class. The course ended Tuesday I think or maybe Wed. I don't know. I don't know what day it is half the time.

Got to read the comments on the last two assignments. She says I'm still not doing citations and there's no reference page. But there's "References" in the Table of Contents so I don't know what the issue is.

Also, I apparently missed some of the criteria. This has happened to me before. I look in Instructions for instructions on the assignment. That makes sense, right? But sometimes, they add instructions to announcements or the course guidelines. I don't think to look in those places because to me, instructions should be underneath instructions. Just like my references are underneath "References".

I emailed the professor today because it was the first day I had to actually look at the university page. Well I didn't really have time to look at it but with the weekend coming up, I didn't want to push it back again. I don't know if I'll get a response from the professor or not because I received an email about the end of course survey that we get each time a course is over. I haven't specified that I'm done with the course so maybe I can resubmit the last two. I still don't get why those are so different from all the others since I based all of them after my first couple of rewrites but whatever. I think this professor was way too heavy on the academics and formatting of the papers than the actual content.

Right now I have to play with the dog. She's waiting on me. I love the concept that we're all human and make mistakes but then again, we have to be completely perfect. No errors at work, no mistakes in my classes, etc.

@IsayUncle well if I don't get to redo them, I'll get about a B. I get that formatting is important but like I was telling a manager at the grocery store, in a real-world situation, people are going to be more concern about my technical knowledge and not the aesthetics of a paper. I doubt managers are really going to care if my headlines were properly formatted. They will be more concerned about the context and not the looks. Which is how the professor should have done. But maybe because she's a professor, she'd more concerned about the academia instead of real-life scenarios.

yea, i think a lot of schooling is more about disciplines before real life.

@IsayUncle well as I alluded, in a IT job, people are going to be more concerned about my technical knowledge and what I can code, not if I can do immaculate papers. And I have seen spelling errors in some of the professional papers that I have used as references so no one is perfect even though there seems to be a stigma to be so.

@Enthenia

I agree, but it's like a double edged sword. It has to cut both ways.

You could be an amazing coder but a diploma show that you can master a social/corperate/ industrial setting. Pushing through and rising above the demographics of ..... (i can't think of a good word there) but i hope you know a diploma shows a lot more of your character, more than, just your knowledge of the subject.

And you do really good tolerating those curveballs, so you should do real well when you yu get your diploma.

@IsayUncle I had to hunt for this post because I accidentally closed the page while I was typing a response. I got word back from the professor. I can resubmit them. Apparently the course isn't officially over until I click on the "course completion" link. Right now, I'm working on fixing the references. They were pretty much correct, just some things italicized that shouldn't be. And I'm changing the citations from parenthical to narrative. If she wanted a specific type, that should have been laid out in the course guidelines. Every other course I've had I have done a parenthical citation and there had been no problems. I tried looking at the APA options on Word but they only have the 6th edition and this professor wants the 7th.

And, I have to be more instructive. I have to break down what's shown in a screenshot. So I guess I have to do something like "Step 1, step 2, etc."

I'm just going to go back and redo the last three assignments because the last 3-4 is where the objections to  the format arose even though they were essentially the same as the other assignments.

I hope to have one hec'k of a productive day today.

Last week I was fortunate enough to finish one big job and then straight to starting another big job. This week, financially speaking has been my best week so far this year.

I've been focusing so much on work the past three weeks that my personal world has turned into a disaster.

That's the challenge today and it begins right now. Picking and choosing my priorities it's going to be kind of hard because everything is relevant and understanding everything is relevant, then I need to try to do everything. LOl..... It's OK, I'll just try to do my best starting off with the kitchen 😂.

User Profile: IsayUncle
IsayUncle OP August 10th, 2025

That felt good to clean the kitchen. It's the first time the kitchen has been cleaned for about a week and 1/2.

Moving on to morning tasks.

User Profile: IsayUncle
IsayUncle OP August 10th, 2025

The morning tasks we're not too painful, and I finished those up within reason.

I ended up getting a phone call but my headsets were in the truck and it was kind of a long winded conversation. That knocked me out of my groove a little bit.

My must do today is my weekly receipts paperwork and bills. But I'm going to take an hour to address a few other little fires, like starting some laundry, sorting the recyclables, and cleaning out the cab of the truck from last week to get it ready for tomorrow for work.

One hour equals smorgasbord attack! 😬

User Profile: IsayUncle
IsayUncle OP August 10th, 2025

Smorgasbord attack can be dangerous. I found it easy to get distracted, also get discouraged because of all the little bits that ain't done. Kind of losing focus and momentum.

But I did get a couple things completed and I'm gonna do a couple more and then I think I'll take short rest.

User Profile: IsayUncle
IsayUncle OP August 10th, 2025

a short rest ended up being 3 hours.... ugggggh! I started good but now mid-afternoon is here. The more i do, the more i see thay needs doing.

PLUS.. i stress eat when i get tired, so now i have to clean the kitchen again.

FEELS LIKE I'M STARTING ALL OVER. Clean Kitchen - Sort kitchen table - Make dog beds.
