Building a Routine - A
Some people seem to have a controlled routine, while others are forced into a routine and then the day is over, and then there are those (like me) that have been pulled and pushed in so many directions for so many years, I never learned to have a routine nor understood the value of it. But now Believe it is very valuable. So it's worth it for me to fight for a routine.
I'll continue new threads to share my progress or setbacks. 😊
@IsayUncle
I wish you the best of luck with your routine quest. I've had to live with a set routine half my life, disabilities and all, and it can definitely get a lot sometimes. But as long as you give some room in it for changes and keep updating it along with your life, it will be fine. And setbacks happen to all of us, even us who have had a tight routine for most our lives. As long as it doesn't get too bad and you can return to it (if you feel you need to be on a routine, of course), you're on a good path.
If we read enough self help literature about goals and accomplishments, They ALL say, "Learn to say NO".
NOW...., that is a hard concept to follow Especially for an individual with insecurity issues and looking for approvals. VERY HARD!
But I think I finally get it. I'm an older man so it has been a lifetime struggle but I didn't give up and now I think I get it. I have one more big obligation on Sunday but after that I have not promised out my time to anyone and I'm going to very greedy and protective of my time. Employment ventures will be my priority and then my time will be my time for personal accomplishments. I have one exception which is an ongoing (Every) Monday 3 hour evening program for students I hope to encourage through hands on work and skills training.
Today I start cleaning and sorting my snowballed mess to try to get back to building a routine. Lots and Lots of laundry, beddings, and dog beddings.
@IsayUncle I think that will help you a lot when you have more time to yourself. Once you have a solid routine you can add in some extras when you know you have time. Good luck with the laundry!
