This is amazing and something very significant to celebrate! We still have 2 days left in this week (it runs Sunday to Saturday) and what we've done here is absolutely remarkable. Amazing work to all of you!

The helping people goal is the main goal we look at. It means that we are reaching more and more people and providing more and more support in a way that scales. The big vision is the emotional support system for the Internet or the global social safety net. The way we fulfill that mission is by reaching and helping more and more people each week.

We blew the doors off the goal this week. FANTASTIC work and Happy Friday : )

Thanks for pointing this out! I should have clarified this. Many organizations like ours struggle because they implicitly tell themselves, 'Well, we are now helping this many people so we are good.' Lots and lots of people continue to struggle andthey are never reached; not because the organization decided to deliberately stop helping them, but because they became okay with the level of outreach that they conducted. Then, gradually, these organizations start to wither away because they are no longer growing. Growth = life. If you are growing, then you are alive. It is actually pretty easy to turn into an organization that starts off by doing great, but gradually does less and less good.

We are protected from this by having a very large mission - becoming the emotional support system for the Internet! Or, the global social safety net. We'd have to deliberately scale back our vision and goals, but this would be very hard to do b/c it is baked into who we are as an organization. It is a part of our fabric.

The thing we have to be careful about is setting the appropriate goal level. We want to make the goal reachable, but not too challenging. If it is too hard, then we'll just get frustrated. If it is too easy, then we won't be challenged. We'll need to figure out the best place to set our goals. We are paying close attention to this to get it right.

Because our vision is to be the emotional support system for the world, we need to continuously grow to make progress towards that goal. I know it seems baffling to even consider, but in the future it is not at all inconceivable that that we'll be helping millions of people a day.

Organizations that are huge and do a world of good initially start small. They struggle. They fail. But they continuously figure things out and iterate. We've already done this a bunch. We've had several struggles that we've collectively overcome and the results are astounding. We'll continue to learn and overcome and the amount of people we help, and the amount we grow as a community, will be nothing short of remarkable. Great things start small : )

I know one day we are going to be worldwide known! We going to be the emotional support for people via the internet! We will get there! And having goals like this is fantastic!
