The Monotony of Chores

@IsayUncle
All of the tasks feel sysiphian. Some things are very difficult for me to get around to, make time for, get the energy and the tools to complete, and then it feels like as soon as i've done them, they need doing again.
Also living with other people is hard, because often it takes less than an hour for my work to be undone. It can be very stressful.
@affableStrings4654
Good morning or Good day 😊
Thanks for the nod towards Sisyphus. I never heard that word before so I looked it up. You obviously know the significance but it was good for me to read and understand.
"How is Sisyphus punished? Sisyphus is punished in the underworld by the god Zeus, who forces him to roll a boulder up a hill for eternity. Every time he nears the top of the hill, the boulder rolls back down".
I appreciate theology, old and anchient texts that help remind me that it is so very normal to struggle through numerous situations and there may be no fault or inadaquacy within me, just normal life that has been happening for thousands of years to all walks of people.
(A Sisyphean Task... That is a great one to remember, thanks)
All you said about getting everything in order and then doing the task only to have to do it again resonates with me and is spot on. Sometimes I feel very selfish or petty as I complain because I am by myself SO I admire others that continue doing for others that they live with in spite of the frustration and lack of progress, understanding or help sometimes. I could imagine how stressful that could be. In that situation I see a big degree of selflesssness there; beyond the frustration and I guess that is what I often admire. 💜
@IsayUncle
I am really glad that the reference was helpful to you! <3
Perhaps where Zeus offered failure, Sisyphus found hope for all eternity so he's still trying.
I think I will finish all of my copying and filing early this morning.
3:35am: Finish copying and filing.
All the papers, files and mail that have been collecting on the tables, in the spare room, on the desk and file cabinets are all sorted and put away.
My 3:35am tasks are done and a 2 day effort has paid off! YAY, thanks for your help.
@IsayUncle That's an awesome accomplishment! Well done! :)
@mytwistedsoul
Hi ya Soul, thanks for the comment.... way back when...., lol. Sorry i didn't respond.... oops😟 but i hope a belated thanks is good. 😊. How've you been feeling, Doing ok?
@IsayUncle No worries. Nothing to be sorry for - you're welcome though 🙂
I'm doing ok mostly - Thank you for asking. How are things in your world?
Now that all my old paperwork is filed and put away, I'm kind of prepared for completeing this months book-keeping of logging receipts, income and bills.
9:13am; Morning tasks and Set up auto pay for new bill.
@IsayUncle Monotony, totally understand what you mean. I usually put on headphones and listen to music or lectures, kill two birds with one stone feels ultra productive.
@miraculousParadise2759
hi, thanks. ur right. that does help a lot. I used to do that all the time but dummy me drove over my good headphones a couple months back. 😟. i've tried ear buds and lesser headphones but they haven't worked as well. I see a christmas present coming for myself real soon. thanks for the reminder.😊
Today is Thanksgiving Day. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. I am alone and I am thankful to be alone. I would like one day to establish a symbiotic bond with another but I am not quite that selfless yet to take the time. I am still struggling with my own identity. I am not lonely but I do not like the isolation. I want to be seen. That feels pathetic and selfish. It is what it is. I know I will continue trying to stand strong and hopefully benefit others by sharing my efforts but also listening to others efforts and accepting support and insights of others.
I will continue my tasks today in a state of grace and thankfulness. Tomorrow will be my celebrative day. Go to the big city and enjoy ethnic grocery stores, eating out in quality restaurants and shopping for electronics.
@IsayUncle
And so this is just a continuation of my morning post on Thanksgiving.
Today, hopefully a big day of completion.
4:30am: Morning tasks. I did get distracted trying to cook and make puffed rice. I deep fried cooked rice (white-basmati rice). I experimented with frying cooked rice and raw rice in hot lard. I just managed to make crunchy rice and crunchier rice. I did ball up some cooked kernels and made a fried rice ball… That has interesting possibilities. I then tried the cooked kernels in a rotisserie basket in the air fryer. Just more crispy browned kernels. As always, I managed to make a mess of the kitchen.
6:35am: Clean kitchen. 8:15am: Rest. 8:30am: Fold clothes + Dilly dallying. 10:19am: Sort receipts No receipts done… I just Dilly Dallied again (wasted time through aimless wandering or indecision) for 4 hours. I did watch a show about “Bodin’s” Sourdough bread from CA. Looks Sooo good! To buy one loaf online is like $20 bucks and then another $20 for shipping…. It ain’t that good! I don't think. LOL
2:30pm: Sort & log personal receipts. 5:33pm: Research unknown transactions. 6:02pm: Wash dishes. AND so the day ends. Another Sysiphean effort.
I REALLY BLEW IT TODAY! REALLY REALLY REALLY!
I didn't get overwhelmed with the work, I got overwhelmed with all the ideas in my head. I did good this week but didn't finish some things and I thought I could do this and that and come back to this and reach out to that.... AND all I did was get up, get started to do something while worring about something else and just rested thinking it would re-charge me and reset me but I reset so many times I got nothing done so a big triumphant day is impossible to achieve now. I'm going to try for a little win.
3:55pm: Get dressed. Restart paperwork.
