Weekly sharing of Goals! Week #11 2024 (Monday 03/11/24 - Sunday 03/17/24)
I welcome anyone to commit to a goal here today.
But importantly, talk about getting it done..... or why it didn't happen yet.
To praise each other for our efforts and wins.
While supporting each other through trials and setbacks.
And to continue trying and not give up.
Remember:
Every Goal should be considered "Worthy".
Never belittle your achievements and be proud of yourself for your daily accomplishments!
Whether they be Complex or Simple.
Getting out of bed is a good day..... Good job I say!
Share your goals today, for support and encouragement.
I start a fresh thread for this series each week. Sometimes the new thread gets lost and is hard to find.
Being tagged makes it easier for those interested to follow the series.
If you want to be Added or Removed, please let me know. 😊
BUT always visit when you can. We love to hear from you! 💗.

🧐 Hmmmm, I wonder what a good topic for this week might be?🙃
@IsayUncle
🤣 I have no clue. Let's see, how many plates, balls, or otherwise did I drop this week?
Hey everyone! Happy week - I hope it goes well. Things are going well and I'm excited that today is my day off and I get to enjoy doing nothing or anything that I want.
So how do we keep all the plates in the air that we have going?
Career - family - social - self-care - responsibilities - education - children/grandchildren - activities of daily living - and so on.
I'm looking forward to hearing others responses.
I try to personalize what is most important and then identify options for solutions then prioritize what is most important then if there is something I can drop sometimes or drop totally for a while.
@KristenHR
I hope you enjoyed your day off couple days ago. I couldn't get back to the thread because of the complete opposite reason which was for me. I had a paying job to do for the past couple days and it was all consuming. Finished up yesterday so that was good.
"So how do we keep all the plates in the air that we have going?"
So this is the golden question huh? And then you listed a bunch of plates to be working with.
Career - family - social - self-care - responsibilities - education - children/grandchildren - activities of daily living - and so on.
This is a scary list. Even scarier is the fact that you can break any one of these subject down into more things. And the scariest part ever is the end of the sentence, "and so on". Because really, it seems like it never ends.
FINDING OUR PERSONAL BALANCE.
"I try to personalize what is most important and then identify options for solutions then prioritize what is most important then if there is something I can drop sometimes or drop totally for a while."
I really like your approach and I agree with. This is what makes balance for each individual as unique as the individual themselves. What is personally important to me is not the same as it is to another. And another thing is, if we try to balance all those things it's not really balanced at all but somehow starts to fall on the side of the fence total control. And that will bring much grief because in reality we control very little if anything.
I have been working on a simple balance of things. These things are personally important to me because they start my day off with a strong foundation if they are completed. Seven cups is an important part to my balance because 2 1/2 years ago I was completely and off balance 100%. Interaction with the people on 7 cups in the beginning (especially @BestVase) really helped me regroup and find a foothold again. And currently those of you here that have been helping me through my trials and tribulations. (off topic but thank you all very much).
So obviously, I choose to make seven cups an important part of my balance, because like Kristen says, it is personally important to me.
Through my struggles for the past 2 1/2 years, it has been extremely important for me to keep my house in order. So this is my current list of things to do to keep my balance. Everything else in my life is perchance and done for survival which includes employment to pay bills. These other things I do not have the power to balance at this time.
So my simple list for me to start the day off balanced and end the day balanced because I want these things to be done at the end of the day too is as follows.
Interact on 7 cups / Be sure beds are made and floors are clean / Keep dishes washed and put away, along with making sure the kitchen is clean / Do laundry in a consistent manner to maintain manageable loads. / Do bills, log receipts and complete financial spreadsheets on a weekly basis / Handle all mail and communications in a manner that completes any possible obligation.
Obviously there is very little here compared to the hundreds of things that cross our paths on a daily basis like the initial list at the beginning indicates. BUT... To do these things on my list does takes up a significant amount of time from of my day. And if I can get them accomplished, I feel like I'm balanced and everything else has to be dealt with as it comes. And all these other things that get thrown at me shouldn't be able to knock me off my simple balance. BUT, currently they still do so I continue to work hard to maintain foundational balance and I think if I can master that, eventually I'll be able to add additional plates.
@IsayUncle
I love that you bring up there are certain things that are high on your priority list. For me that is my passion and my friends (who are my family of choice). Things from there are important but significantly less so. My passions are not limited to one areas either, so they get equal interest, but time may vary according to my schedule. But they stay in the forefront of my life because they are passions.
I have things that have to happen - and things that need to happen and things I want to happen. I do them when I can or when I want to. Sometimes I have to just deal with the fact that something with have to wait for another day or another week. Sometimes something I want to do will have to wait until I finish something that can't wait, but some things are non-negotiable, such as what is necessary for my physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. I refuse to be in the space I was moons ago in my life. I love my life today (most of the time) and I want another 40 years out of it, so it's necessary to be kind to me!
I love how you recognized the one who helped you find some balance and helped you find what you needed to here. Those people are special and they need to hear it sometimes. Kudos to that one for being compassionate and being here. To all of those who give of themselves to help another like us who needs a listening ear!
Love your post. It's cause for more thought on this topic. Gotta get up and moving. Have a wonderful day to you and all in this thread.
@IsayUncle add me to your tag list, please 💛
Will you add me?
I have lost the balance of absolutely everything for this one day, which of course can snowball into an catatrophic disaster into next week if I let it continue. Chasing my core bslance!
(2:38pm) 1 - Clean kichen and sort kitchen table
@IsayUncle Do you ever listen to music or audiobooks or podcasts while cleaning?
@Psalm139
Yes, for years. I've noticed that the repetitiveness of these things dilutes their power. When first listening to something like a book or a motivational speech or music, for me i'm ready to dig in and get it done. After a while they do not have the same effect day after day so now I rotate as my mood dictates.
Not in this particular order but with these particular things. (+ more)
Numerous authors of motivational speeches. / Numerous authors in a variety of subject matter of fiction audio books. / A wide range of music from dark country, Blues, rock'n'roll and etcetera from all different years and all different genres. / Lots of cerebral music like flute music or meditational music and stuff like that.
I have a large menu of distraction techniques to keep me from getting discouraged and sometimes none of them fit into my mood. When that happens I worked in silence and meditation and enjoy it. And then sometimes nothing works just go to bed and watch TV😂
One would think that nutrition, food, shopping, meal preparation and preservation, keeping the refrigerator clean and leftovers cleared out. One would think all of these should be part of ones core balance. REMEMBER... Our Core Balance is established by our personal perimeters.
FOOD ISSUES for me are a great deterrent to my Core Balance, I have few disciplines in this area and I enjoy all aspects of food preparation and involvement. It's like a relief and a pastime for me. That's the first place I go when my perseverance begins to wane. Make something quick and then it turns into a real cool dish and then there's lots of dishes to wash and put away and before I know it the afternoon is gone and I didn't stay with my core balance.
EXAMPLE: To maintain my core balance, I've finished my kitchen and my table but now I have to do a quick clean on my floors. FOOD DISTRACTION. I bought some chicken the other day because it was on sale and I have some homemade hot wing sauces, three kinds in the fridge. I'm going to combine these hot wing sauces with this chicken and put it all in the slow cooker. Sounds easy enough huh? But then everything will eventually have to be diskin deboned and package for the fridge and freezer, along with cleaning everything up. So all that takes a lot of time away from my core balance items!
Seven cups is part of my core balance so it's OK that I'm taking time to write this stuff up.
4:20pm. Quick Clean Floors! + slow cook chicken.
BALANCE BY definition alone, is a difficult thing to do and also something to get knocked out of whack easily.
EXAMPLE: I worked on my core balance and got my kitchen cleaned up earlier and then "CHOSE" to get distracted to make a quick chicken pot. That led to getting some things cleaned out of my fridge for the freezer and storage.
Even though I accomplished some things, I didn't get the floors cleaned yet and now I have a bunch of dirty dishes again and having both these things undone...., are a deterent to my Core Balance.

3:50am: Saturday.
I did really well last night trying to get back on track.
I was really disappointed with myself yesterday (Friday) for blowing off the whole day until about 2:30 PM. I worked hard to regain my Core Balance.
I have to leave at 7:45 this morning for a certification class at 9:00 AM. I still have some things to do to achieve my core balance.
What really made me mad at myself and disappointed was the fact that if I wanted to, I could have done a couple of small jobs yesterday for a good bit of cha ching. I Had already made-up my mind not to work on Friday because the weather man said we were supposed to have heavy rains. We didn't have no significant rains so I could have gone to work. I thought it was OK if I didn't go to work if I got a lot of stuff done around the house BUT I didn't do that either...... That's why I was disappointed with myself.
I'm glad I did not resign 1000% yesterday and managed to get some momentum going this morning. A cople things not listed last night was getting a load of laundry done and submitting a job quote, via e-mail fo ra significant large job.
PS.... My crock pot, hot wing cooked chicken is soooo good this morning. It will turn into a pulled chicken taco or sandwich type filling. As @Tinywhisper11 would say ❤❤ nom nom nom ❤ yum yum ❤❤❤😋. lol - hi tiny 😀.
4:21AM: OK, back to my core balance this morning.
Not really part of my core balance but I have to give the dogs their medicines.
Core Balance items: Paperwork and Morning tasks to prepare for today's journey.
