Weekly sharing of Goals! Week #13 2024 (Monday 03/25/24 - Sunday 03/31/24)
I welcome anyone to commit to a goal here today.
But importantly, talk about getting it done..... or why it didn't happen yet.
To praise each other for our efforts and wins.
While supporting each other through trials and setbacks.
And to continue trying and not give up.
Remember:
Every Goal should be considered "Worthy".
Never belittle your achievements and be proud of yourself for your daily accomplishments!
Whether they be Complex or Simple.
Getting out of bed is a good day..... Good job I say!
Share your goals today, for support and encouragement.
I start a fresh thread for this series each week. Sometimes the new thread gets lost and is hard to find.
Being tagged makes it easier for those interested to follow the series.
If you want to be Added or Removed, please let me know. 😊
BUT always visit when you can. We love to hear from you! 💗.

This weeks goals/extras:
- Work on sleep routine. Not sure if I need to go to bed earlier or what but I need to find a way to get more sleep!
- Take daughter for bloodwork to find if she is low in b12 or iron/ start necessary vitamins
- Call to schedule appointments for boys to get spines double checked/ possible xrays
- Clean car
- Change insurance to cars we are now driving
- Take boys to library activity on Wednesday (have wanted to take them for a while and keep pushing off)
- Start drivers ed with oldest daughter
Updated list:
Monday - took M to hospital for blood worm
Tuesday- changed car insurance to correct vehicles
Later today: clean out the car/ vacuum and dust, possibly start drivers ed intro lesson with daughter
@Psalm139
That looks like a good doable list. 😀. Hopefully no big surprises thwart your plans.
I looked up blood worms and just saw these evil looking alien type worms people use for fishing. They are carnivorous and have big alien fangs that bite you and with venom.
Did M get bit by one of these or are you talking about a different kind of blood worm? I hope she's OK.
M - took M to hospital for blood work
T- changed car insurance
W- GOALS today - clean car while little boys are at church (if it doesn’t rain again!) & start drivers ed
Going through things in the garage. Initially, it was just a task of clearing out because we moved, but as time has gone on and my and my partners relationship has changed I have moved much of my stuff out to the garage. I haven’t moved out there but I live a minimalist life(just in case). I know it’s not a healthy way to live and is related to much of my childhood experiences. So now clearing the garage is a reminder of my fear of failure,triggering past issues, and the need to declutter to use the garage for what it is intended.
plan moving forward:
- start in the tool area then work to the personal items.
- journal and process triggers as they arise.
- separate seasonal stuff to prepare for camping/hiking season and start storing winter items.
- move the washer and dryer to the back garage wall so that a car can park in the garage.
@anonyTortoise3336
I think those are very solid steps. You stated a very curious thing that got me to thinking. That living minimalistic might not be healthy.
I got to thinking about that and came up with the idea that if we can live minimalistically by choice it is super healthy because we have less burden on our brains.
But Living minimalistically because of unwanted circumstances does feel like it can be discouraging and unhealthy. It does have a powerful advantage though, it offers us a chance to regroup without a whole lot of messes to deal with. Natures way of forcing us into habits of healing.
Changing partners can often be messy and confusing. Finding your own space is a great idea and getting it sorted and cleaned up are powerful goals. You go for it! You got this!
Update to my goals. I did a lot of work in the garage, mostly cleaning and separating. But I did go through a lot of the seasonal things and got them all ready for camping/hiking season. I looked at my totes that I have stored with all my personal items (my just in case) totes. I did not have any negative feelings of thoughts, I was thinking about going through them but discouraged myself because even if I brought stuff back in the house We have clutter all over. I would just be moving my stuff into an already cluttered area. I did however start working on decluttering inside the house so that I can continue working on this goal. baby steps.
@anonyTortoise3336
WOW, you got done what you planned to do this week. (and it sounds like you did a great job at it) That is fantastic. it's unfortunate you have that cloud hanging over your head but impressive you moved through it without having a lot of negative thoughts.
For what it's worth, I think it was kind of smart and kind of strong of you not to tear into your packed totes. Like you said, keep the house decluttered but I also think, right now it's helping you keep your mind uncluttered a little bit too.
GREAT JOB! 😀👍
@KristenHR (Carry-over from last week)
You mentioned your deadline for a continued education course is the 27th. No Pressure but are you close to finishing it? (a little pressure maybe) 😁
I got my areas clear that I wanted to work on but it took me all the way up until last night. I was hoping to be done well before then so that I could get back on track with things.
It's been a project I've been working on for a couple years so it really is a good accomplishment that was really needed at this time to facilitate my self-employment.
I just need to get some more gravel so it's not a mud pit when it rains. (there always seems to be that little extra to do. 😒)
In fear of beating a dead horse.... I have to regain my core balance and then do some real work for paying customers. A Full challanging week indeed.
Also, I'd like to start a seperate thread about "Core Balance". I have so many intersecting thoughts about this theory that I'd like to put down for discussion. It's important to me because it's about finding the smallest form of balance for oneself and I believe that is a key for self value and gaining a foothold to move forward. But that is another plate to balance.
Go Clean Kithen.
@IsayUncle
Great job on clearing the area. What is the project going to be? Is it for you?
@KristenHR
Thanks. It's been an area that I've been clearing for a couple years. My property is pretty hilly and it doesn't have a lot of flat places. The area I had to clear it is down by the narrow country road and it's gonna be used to manage my equipment like my big truck and trailer for equipment. So yeah, it is a huge help for me because I used to have to drive a mile or so down the road to find a place to turn around and now I can do it at my house. 😎
I am interested in hearing more about your core balance idea and thoughts!
@Psalm139
Yea, thanks. I'm trying to put it into words that makes sense. Something for others to grasp when all they feel like they're doing is grasping at is Straws. To find a sense of a balance in the simplest form for that person, individually from all others expectations. Is their core and their balance to figure out. I want to lay out the stepping stones on how I got there because it was an epiphany for me and now it really helps me make it through the week with more purpose and less sense of failure.
And in reality, I'm not doing anything different and I've been trying to do for the past two years. Instead of seeing these things as chores, I realized they contribute to my core sense of balance and that makes all the difference in the world to get them done.
Everyone's bare minimum is different to everyone else's. I think it's very hard for the average person to shut everything else down that's going on in their lives and figure out what is their bare minimum needs are to keep them personally balanced with the exclusion of the rest of the world, with the exception "if" the rest of the world is part of their personal balance. That's what I mean for each person; Core Balance is individualistic and cannot be judged by others but only by oneself.
I think if we can identify our Core Balance we can then understand the lack of overall balance as a separate entity and resort to our solid Core Balance when we're failing at the overall balance of many other things.
Thank for asking.
So can you give an example for yourself of what things help you to achieve your core balance?
You said some things are chores. I don’t know if you mean house chores or chores as in things you need (but don’t really want) to do. Either way I think I understand that.
I feel awful if the house is a mess and can’t think. But how much cleaning is enough? Too much and I get overwhelmed to even start sometimes. If I don’t leave the house I get depressed, even when I look forward to not having to go anywhere! But leaving the house is a “chore” that causes anxiety and takes up time and drains me emotionally/ mentally. Sleep has been a big struggle for me lately too, and that has to be a priority for me because I cant function well at all on limited sleep…
But I could think of so many things like that that seem essential. How do I narrow it down? I’d like to hear about how you found what you needed - sometime, when you have time.
@Psalm139
yea, that is the key. I was able to figure mine out from the bottom up. Situation like yours with a big family or perhaps others that work lots of hours have already established a rigid lifestyle or timeline, something that has to be figured out from the top down that could be a little bit tougher.
I could suggest something like if you take care of all your appointments, that could be your core balance. That's a big deal there's a lot involved in that. Everything else can be scrambled eggs. If all your appointments are taken care of they give you a sense of balance and everything else gets managed as it happens. Perhaps a time for prayer or meditation... something that is a must do for self on a daily basis.
I'm actually writing up a Word document, trying to explain the starting point which is hard because it is very individualistic. It's like what you say, where do you draw the line? I guess the answer to that question is if you can find your core balance the rest will draw their own lines and sometimes your core balance will be knocked out but you get back to it as soon as you can. It helps you stay focused but doesn't necessarily mean you're gonna get everything done your overall balance but we can't do that anyway so why not anchor ourselves on our core balance. 🤨
It will be interesting to experiment and find what works. I might need to think of each of my kids and what they need too.
I don’t know if I would feel balanced with just my appointments done but that does take a weight off! Bible reading is something I definitely need to work back in to my schedule. Also some basic level of clean for the house. And time with the kids, reading probably - that covers quality time and learning. Lots to think about!
I look forward to reading more of your insights!
This week should be interesting. Today looks to be a nice weather day so I need to work on finishing the new fence around the garden area Tomorrow I need to pick up a new bed that I ordered for the guest room here. I also need to make a trip to the feed mill for feed for the horse and chickens
I have a remote meeting on Thursday with the probate court to be officially the executor and receive the letters of testamentary. With those I can set up an estate account so I can pay his final expenses. Plus tend to the other things that remain. I'm unbelievably nervous about this meeting 😅
It does seem to rain alot doesn't it? Mud every where 😕 We get a nice day and then it rains for two. Or it gets cold and snows with a slight freeze on top of the mud
Awesome job with finishing clearing up the areas you wanted to get done! It's probably really nice to see the job done and it helps with your future plans! Yay! 🎉
Good luck to everyone on their weekly plans! Go team! 😁
@mytwistedsoul
Hey hey, hi.
Are you nervous about the "remote" part of the meeting or the subject matter of the meeting?
Either Way.....
Try not to be so super nervous on Thursday. These people know what they're doing and probably do it in their sleep. They'll have all the papers ready and be able to explain to you how to do it and it won't be very difficult at. It would just make things a lot easier for you as you move forward and amazingly enough you are moving forward any good pace so try not to let those monkeys get in your head. You're doing good.
We haven't gotten a lot of rain here and that's one of the reasons I was able to hustle on my lot which was great. You probably know you cannot do that in the mud. I hate the mud!
Sounds like you have a real good week planned, not horrible and pretty productive. That's awesome.
I'm gonna add a suggestion about you're meeting on Thursday. Have a notepad or a scrap piece of paper laying around and if these monkeys (question and uncertainties) get in your head while you're doing your other projects, write them down at that time. Just take a minute and write them down and so when you have your remote meeting, you'll have a good list of your concerns and worries packaged and ready to go. Maybe that will help to get them out of your head from worrying about.
Thanks for all the kudos encouragement. I hope it dries up for you and you have a great week
@IsayUncle I think I'm just nervous about the whole thing. Lawyers and authority figures. And how I could screw something up. Ugh - I can think of other things I'd rather do than this. 😅 The lawyer and his paralegal are nice and seem to know what they're doing so I just have to have faith in them to guide me. Fingers crossed!
@mytwistedsoul
The Probate STOMPER is on The Farm Today

You better get out of her way because she got this,
And will be TRIUMPHANT today!

It will all work out fine today. I'm sure of it.
@IsayUncle
So, how did it go? (if you feel like it) I hope it didn't go in the direction to make you feel worse.
🤗.
You're working your way through it. You are doing really good in that area. From past conversations, I think that you're doing this all by yourself and not getting any emotional support. I think that could be harder than doing the actual physical tasks needied to complete this chapter.
I was guilty for being an instrument of discontent as my brother-in-law handled my brothers estate. My brother-in-law did an amazing job. My brother was an average Joe, and there was no big estate stuff but there was still all his personal and family stuff he acquired throughout the years.
I was doing fine until my sister was being all torn up about a bunch of perceived grievances she had had so I stepped in to protect and back her up. My actions created more drama then was ever needed at a time when mourning and togetherness should have been paramount. My sister was wrong and I was wrong. She was being totally self-serving and selfish which I didn't understand at the moment and even though I didn't have nothing to gain for myself personally, I tipped the scales of ill content by defending and supporting her. The drama and ill-content that I created was not fair to my brother-in-law or the family.
I've never heard of an executor of an estate that came out of the other end unscathed and not emotionally depleted. I'm sure it happens but for the most part, it is a bumpy and lonely road.
I hope my story adds the depth of unforeseeable curveballs they have nothing to do with you except for you have to navigate around them to get this stuff done. So stick with the paperwork and push it through as fast as you can without letting stupid people like me into your head while you're finishing this very hard chapter. 💗
I'm feeling a little guilty for taking today off because the weather is good and I can go do some work. I've been fighting so hard for the past couple months and I finally got the business finances to break even. I was in debt for $2400 and from doing numerous little jobs and stuff but not getting no pay for myself I was $300 from being even Stevens.
We got this big job that would have easily and finally got us into the black and even manage a small paycheck. We went to do that yesterday and on the first day when you're almost done with the whole there were a couple big rocks that was gonna be pain in the **** to get out but very doable until the backhoe overheated. The big belt, the Serpentine belt that runs all the pulleys and stuff at the front of the engine broke which include the water pump shell we had to stop the job load up and bring everything back home to the shop.
And now with the iffy weather and the homeowner is going on vacation next week this job just got dragged out for two freaking weeks when it could have been done in three days.
Always, three steps forward and 2 steps back I guess I should be thankful for that one foot gain.
