Weekly sharing of Goals! Week #29 2024 (Monday 07/15/24 - Sunday 07/21/24)

User Profile: IsayUncle
IsayUncle July 15th, 2024

I welcome anyone to commit to a goal here today.

But importantly, talk about getting it done..... or why it didn't happen yet.

To praise each other for our efforts and wins.

While supporting each other through trials and setbacks.

And to continue trying and not give up.

Remember:
Every Goal should be considered "Worthy".
Never belittle your achievements and be proud of yourself for your daily accomplishments!
Whether they be Complex or Simple.
Getting out of bed is a good day..... Good job I say!

Share your goals today, for support and encouragement.

@Whelve1 it's the perfect week to start eating healthy, it's so damn! Hot, it's hard to eat much. Except for fruit and ice cream... Icecream is healthy, it's made of milk 😁 good luck ❤

More proof that half the time I don't know what day it is. I saw that the end of the week was the 21st. Looked at my calendar. That would be correct. It means the package I'm awaiting will come this weekend and not the middle of next week like I thought.

As I've said, I only know that I have two days a week where I don't have to get up at 3:45...

Getting caught up at work and then I'll go back to my assignment. Should be able to dedicate at least 90 minutes to it

Okay, I have to choose my databases, workstations, and something else. Developer applications. Then the assignment will be completed and I will start on the 7th one.

Still have to work on the last two points. Had spreadsheets crash (again). Pulling data from one place then pasting it in WordPad then copying & pasting in the spreadsheet takes time. Then there was the lag with the VPN. Then deleting empty columns, sorting, doing formulas, etc. There weren't a lot of customers but that all takes time. I still have to edit two people's spreadsheets. Have to be done on Monday.

I'll be just as busy Monday because the reports are due Tuesday and I still have to write reports on another program that I have to get on the VPN to use...

@Enthenia This all sounds so complicated! And with things crashing and lagging that would have been so frustrating 😬

@mytwistedsoul yes. IT admits we need hardware upgrades but no budget. When I have to pull my 120+ daily reports, I usually have to restart the spreadsheet software at least once because it claims there's not enough memory. And, certain things in the software are disabled like if I forget to copy a link or email to notepad and then paste it in any Office program, it highlights the link or email and I can't remove it.

It also keeps the formatting when you copy things over. That's why I did the extra step after I got a "serious error" and had to pull the data all over again. Using WordPad as an intermediary seemed to lessen the memory the data used.

I've mentioned this in meetings (had a recent one with management) but all I get is acknowledgement. Nothing is done about anything.

@Enthenia Wow so they admit they need upgrades but there's no budget. You would think they'd find something in the budget for upgrades because it's not very efficient for employees at all. Omg that would be really frustrating. Memory can't be that expensive can it? I guess it depends on how much and how many you would have to update too though. I really hope they figure something out to make your job easier

@mytwistedsoul this company was the reason why I started going back to school...

I was glad to get the job as a temp. worker after COVID but now that I've been here for a couple of years, I don't want to be here permanently. It just isn't worth it.

@Enthenia I can't say I blame you for not wanting to stay there. The aggravation and frustration alone would be enough to find something different. And you've got a couple years of experience in doing things the hard way since the company doesn't want to do much needed upgrades

@mytwistedsoul I was glad I had a dental appointment yesterday. Tuesday I found that data I had saved was erased and replaced by supervisors. Then they're changing how they want things done again. Last I knew, they wanted the customer's data reviewed up until the date of review but now they're saying that because the data on the monthly report was already filed on, the transaction history I found up until the 19th (which was when I did the review) doesn't matter. But when I excluded that data before, the supervisors (who look at everything afterwards) would extend the time period they pulled the data from to at least a week after I did the review.

How am I supposed to do my job when they change how they want things? And there's five of them and they don't view things or save things the same way yet I'm supposed to do whatever they want without question.

@Enthenia So all the work you did - all the frustration and aggravation you went through fighting with their antiquated system they just deleted it? They really need to learn to communicate with their employees. It sounds really frustrating. Do they have a high turnover for employees? It's crazy they expect so much from one person

@mytwistedsoul it's been a while since we lost anyone. I think several of us are just biding our time until we can leave. I know there's at least three who are doing online classes. One lady who has done this sort of job for over ten years says it's the most disorganized company she's worked for.

I have worked for resort properties before but in different departments. But, this is the most stressful job I have ever had. Pretty sure it's affected me personally in some fashion and not for the best. It's why I wanted to get skills that I could take to other fields. I don't want to stay in my current one. Not after being in this job for three+ years.

@Enthenia I definitely don't blame you for not wanting to stay there. All the stress is bound to affect you in a lot of not so positive ways. Imagine the higher ups surprise if you would all leave at the same time!

@mytwistedsoul I really don't know how or why people stay. As I put on the other goals post for last week, it's close to maddening. They want consistency yet they're inconsistent in their consistency.

Like, if you want something put down exactly as you write it then don't be vague. Don't say "something like this" Say "this is what needs to be put down". And, since there's five leads, then they all need to be consistent in what they want. If you want something structured, then it has to be structured the same way.

Yet it seems like I'm always in the wrong (& should  be totally able to do 10+ all at the same time with complete accuracy) and I can't contest anything because then I'm being insubordinate. The word of the leads is infallible and the law. Not what management says but strongly implied.

I've had one heck of a busy work week.  On Wed and Thursday, I had 19,000+ and 21,000+ steps recorded on my device respectively, and that was just my work day.  Friday I was able to get out early and get in a 25 mile bike ride.  That was a good decompression for me.  Thursday evening, I looked at the calendar at work, and no one had put in to take today off, so I jumped on it.  Last night I was asleep by 745pm.  This morning, it was nice to sleep until my body woke me up, without an alarm, at 550am, and have coffee on the porch listening to the birds while the sun was rising, instead of drinking it on the go, a sip here and there, when I could while at work.  What I look forward to most on my days off is my morning "relaxing coffee time" while everyone in the house is still asleep.  Since I was able to take today off, I'm decompressing even more by going to float around in the kayak with my girlfriend and have a picnic lunch at a lake we have yet to visit.... Anyway, to answer the topic question of the post:  What breaks us down to the point of depression?

For me, I believe it is overthinking ALL the things, especially at work.  I catastrophize every situation, thinking of all that can go wrong, how it will effect me, or my loved ones and then wait for it to happen.  It usually doesn't happen, and deep down in my mind I know this, yet I don't know how NOT to think this way.  This sets a negative tone in my thinking causing me to fall into these bouts of depression.  Depression because I'm tired of thinking this way and don't know how to stop, if that makes sense.

As far as goals for the week go, I really didn't have any.....just to survive, which I did......

I hope everyone else is having a good ending to their week and heading into the weekend with a plan to rest, relax and reset......

I managed to stay in my job for a month! The job that I thought I could never do. Most of the previous employee in my position was resigned within a month, but I didn't. I stayed although with so many remarks from my colleagues. At least, I didn't quit. I am proud of this. I wish to not only survive but also increased my performance in the next week. Wish me luck!

Happy Sunday.

Todays goal.....strength workout in the garage gym, mow the lawn, and start preparing for my vacation.  This time next week I'll be on the road to see my kids and grandchildren.  Sometimes I feel like my yearly trip to see my grandkids is more stressful than not.  Its a 12 to 13 hr drive, getting things ready at home for while we are gone, getting the car ready for travel, getting my mind ready for travel, doing all the things while we are there, the drive home.....I need a couple days recovery at home doing nothing before I go back to work lol......it will definitely take me a week to get prepared to go....I have a busy, busy week at work getting things in order and set for when I'm gone, because I'm only working 2 days this week.  I have to pick up my youngest son from the airport (2.5hr drive)Wed night, he lands at 10pm as he returns from a trip to Spain with his school, he has his drivers test for his license on Friday and we leave for our trip on Saturday.  Plus all the usual household and personal chores for the week.

Sorry, all that should have been for next weeks goals thread.....I keep forgetting this thread runs Monday thru Sunday.  My weeks run Sunday thru Saturday....That is how our pay periods and work schedules run so I've been running my calendar and day planners on that schedule since I started this job in 2007.

Have a wonderful day and a great upcoming week folks.....

Awww man, you got a lot going on! Vacations are often very trying for every one. Knowing that doesn't make it any easier though so good luck and I'm confident the kids will benefit greatly from your attention.

By the way, you're perfectly fine talking about what's on your mind about your goals and stuff. This is more of a yearly thread actually and I just keep track of what week of the year we're in. Like right now we're in week 29 of 52 weeks for the year.

I started doing it like this to remind me that we can have a fresh start every week to continue on-going goals and maybe start new ones but they all tie together. So you are perfectly right  talking about  upcoming vacation. That's a big deal, a lot of work and hopefully next week we hear more about your progress and how you're feeling about it all.

I hope you make it through without imploding. lol  good luck!

I had a very hard week also. As some of you get to know me better, you know I use this writing space as a motivational tool for myself. This evening is no different. You're going to read me rambling on into the evening to finish up week #29.

I set tasks for myself and then I come over here and ramble on. hehe. I guess it helps me a lot to be heard, even if it is somewhat of a captivated crowd of friends.

My hard week let me up to yesterday where I had a job to do but I can only put in a half a day and so the job is only half finished. Today I could have finished it but we had rainy weather. It was iffy rainy weather and I chose not to go to work and then the weather cleared up and I should have gone to work because now we might have a rainy week ahead of us.

I was so freaking tired from last week's work. Unbelievable amount of breakdowns on my equipment. A serious twilight zone event I think. Job I had was a couple hours driving time away and it should have taken two days with one piece of equipment, maybe 3 days. It took five days with two pieces of equipment because each one was alternately breaking down. It was crazy. My equipment is in pretty good running condition what hydraulic holes were popping and out of the blue the ignition switch just shorted out and it shorted out a fuel pumps solenoid switch and blah blah on and on.

I had another job planned for the week and that Lady was ragging on me everyday when was I gonna be there when was I gonna be there when was I gonna be there? And so that was the job I was supposed to finish today.

I didn't go to work and I was so tired that I didn't do nothing around the house all day.

6:00PM: I'm going to pretend that I'm working like a pseudo third shift.
My goal just start week #30 with my right foot up ready to launch myself forward into the new week!

IN REGARDS TO THIS THREADS TOPIC FOR THE NEXT FEW WEEKS:
NAGGING BRAIN ENERGY = NEGATIVE ENERGY. That is what is happening to me in real time right now. All these nagging things that were beyond my control is not leaving enough space in my brain to make fast and efficient decisions.

A constant environment of nagging brain energy is a powerful source for creationg and increasing depression. Sometimes we can't do nothing about it and it just overpowers us. We can see it, we can feel it, we can listen to all the cliches but the longer it goes on with us not tackling it, the more it builds up into a mountainous situation that seems too hard to overcome.

I do not want to face this build up for Monday. I'm afraid it will kill my weak spirit even before I get started on this brand new week coming up. I'm going to fight hard this evening you have a good start tomorrow and I have to write down every step because that's what works for me.

If you relate to any of this and are or have been in this situation what do you do to breakthrough that Nagging Brain Barrier.

I'm starting off with some coffee and an energy pill. BAM.... go do something!

I realize that there are a lot of "motivational" quotes and catch phrases out there....as silly as this may sound, I have my go to's, that I have printed and posted around my home gym.....They apply, not just for motivation for me for working out, but you can apply them to life in general.....and I have to read and re-read, and remind myself daily......A lot of my favorites are from motivational speakers and movies.....One of my favorite quotes from a movie, that I apply to not just my workouts, but to life is this one:

rocky-2_1721635533.jpg

Kinda corny, I know, but for me it makes sense......

Also, for me, certain types of music are great motivators....some songs have great messages if you take the time to actually listen to the words and get the message.......

I hope next week brings you better luck with your equipment and jobs....you got this......

@CyclingThroughLife

Thanks Cycling. That is a powerful quote and very true also. It's one of those quotes I can also see you adhereing too strongly.

If it's silly to keep a quote reference source; color me silly too! I think it's smart for me to have a reminder source of wise thinking.

Not only do I keep quotes of working hard and not giving up but I also have a lot of quotes about forgiveness and anger. There was a time that I was so full of confusion and anger. I couldn't fix others and I couldn't seem to continue with that level of confusion in my brain. So I started looking for advice in those directions. i'm glad I did, They help me a lot. Do you follow any quotes concerning those subjects?

I hope you have a real good week too. I guess you're getting ready for your vacation or going on it. I haven't read your post yet but either way I hope that goes really well for you.

6:12pm -------------- I postponed my coffee and my energy pill because I am running on angry adrenaline. (good angry). I am working in silence with no entertainment in the background. is it quiet somber mood and even the dogs can feel it as they eyeball me moving around but stay out of my way.
I got some kitchen chores done. 6:53PM.
