Weekly sharing of Goals! Week #41 (Monday 10/09/23 - Sunday 10/15/23)
I welcome anyone to commit to a goal here today.
But more importantly, talk about getting it done or why it didn't happen today.
To praise each other for our efforts and wins.
While supporting each other through trials and setbacks.
And to continue trying and not give up.
Remember:
Every Goal should be considered "Worthy".
 Never belittle your achievements and be proud of yourself for your daily accomplishments!
Whether they be Complex or Simple.
Getting out of bed is a good day..... Good job I say!
Share your goals today, for support and encouragement.

We have made it to week #41 of 52 weeks for this year! You guys that joined in on last week's thread really created a positive and uplifting atmosphere. I hope it's OK that I tagged you because every week I do start a new thread even though it's absolutely OK to continue your conversation on last week's thread but sometimes these new threads get lost so I usually tag the people that are in that conversation from last week. That was a mouthful.
Anyway, here's to a mighty fine week for you all!
@IsayUncle
It's great to see more people joining in! Hi everyone. Great to have you here and joining in on things you'd like to accomplish and finding motivation to do so.
I've had a relaxing day today. I'm going to finish out my day watching a couple movies and maybe doing some writing for fun.
I’ll try to update tomorrow! I’m sorry if I appear flaky. Self esteem stuff surfaces for me and I don’t feel like I have anything to be proud about or work towards, like you guys do. I can sometimes feel like in my own broken alien and everyone else is normal. Lol I’m working on it if course, 🩷
I did not have a very good week last week. I knew I was gonna have an extra hard week this week and I think that was kinda stressing me out or making me feel like I was being pushed in a corner or something. I hate to admit it but I don't really operate well under pressure, it's just the way it is.
I probably won't comment a lot this week so it was real nice to see the extra members last week and maybe whoever can make it can support each other. I'll be checking in on everyone though, so don't forget to set your goals and do your best. I hope everyone has an awesome start to the week and it follows through the rest of the days.
I'm looking at 14 hour days this week. I picked up an extra school group in the evenings. Ihave also picked up a side job for the afternoons so my day is gonna start at 5:00 AM and I'll be getting home around 7:00 PM. The extra money will be very good because I'm running in the rears a little bit this year and yeah, the extra hours will help a lot to lighten the debt.
You guys and gals that are staying determined with your exercise routines are amazing. I didn't know what Whoop was so I had to look that up and I was able to understand. The Garmin app sounds pretty good too, and the fact that you all are that committed and disciplined really encourages me too (mentally) so stay at it, good luck and thanks so much for Sharing.
@IsayUncle
I'm sorry you didn't have a good week last week. This weeks 14 hour days sounds like it's not getting any better. I wish you luck and am sending good vibes
@CyclingThroughLife
Thanks. Today is done and it went pretty well.
And for you, Wow, so proactive with your young one. That's great man.
@IsayUncle
Great to hear.
Happy Monday. Tomorrow starts a short work week for me. Hopefully this is a good thing. I managed to get all my weekend things done. This week looks like this.....
-start the process for getting my 15 yr old son his passport (hes going overseas on a school trip)
-start the process for getting same son into drivers education
-Maintain my exercise routine....I want at least 5 days of workouts this week. Today is complete, weight training this morning.
I'm not adding anything else to my plate because it is my busy time in soccer season. Anything else I get done is considered a win.
@CyclingThroughLife
It sounds like you have set a good balance for yourself. That's important. That's great!
@IsayUncle One of my goals is to attend a group yoga class for the second time this week.
@Onepartglitter
Good for You! I think yoga is pretty awesome, You Can Do It.😀
I def need yoga in my life. Good reminder, thank you! I’ll probably enjoy my session via Yoga With Adriane 💚 but hey, it’s a good start! Mindful movement, yoga, and meditation is so healthy and effective for building more desirable neural pathways. Compassion towards oneself, all the way… that’s probably my goal. Even though I’m only 27, I feel like I’ve been pounded into a broken and “unique” little creature that only seeks acceptance. The truth is, there’s so many people who relate to rocky lives. And I can overcome my self made mountains 🏔️
@spicyavocado3788
I love what you shared - thank you! Self-compassion and kindness is so important. Such a great reminder for all of us.
Thank you Kristen! 🩵 I’m reading a book right now, How To Keep House While Drowning and it’s *chef’s kiss*
@spicyavocado3788
You're welcome and I also like what you shared and how you shared it. Not with hatefulness or blame but more along the lines of self betterment and challenge. That's a wonderful approach at your age, actually at any age... LOL. I believe yoga is a good stepping stone and it will serve you well.😊
@Onepartglitter
That's a great plan. Yoga is great in so many ways for physical and mental health.
@Onepartglitter
I wish I had the patience to do yoga. I've tried it a few times and am completely bored 5 min in. I know my mind and body would benefit from it but I just can't seem to do it.....
I continued with my workout goals and did a 75 min endurance spin bike class today. I was also able to check off the Drivers Ed for my son. I can't believe how expensive it is. I think when I took it, it was offered after school, in the cafeteria, for free. Then again, it could have been at a cost that my parents paid and I never knew but that was 30 something years ago so I really don't know lol....either way, as much as I hate my job, and it being the main reason for my stress, I can get as much OT as I want and have the price covered in about 2 or 3 eight hour overtime shifts. The question is...do I want to subject myself to that for him...lol.....anyway....thats my Tuesday. I hope everyone else is moving forward and getting things done. Have a great day, whats left of it.
Happy Thursday....my Friday, sort of. I am stuck covering a shift Saturday afternoon on my day off. That is what happens when you are the assistant supervisor and can't get any of your minions to cover for the guy who is out unexpectedly. I do have Sunday and Monday off. Would have been another great 4 day weekend if I didn't have to break it up covering. If anything positive comes out of it, I get to save 8 hours of vacation time....I'll apply the 8 I used on my regular day off to Monday and save that vacation time. Anyway. I managed to accomplish all the little things at work I needed to. I also accomplished most of the things on my to do list for home. Tomorrow I'll work on some odds and ends but I'm not adding any major projects until after this soccer season. For some reason, its super busy, and my son's social life is digging into my time....but it happens.....and now, add to it, he wants to have job on the weekends, which is great, only that means I'll have to find him rides to and from the store, which is a 25 min drive one way....now I'm looking at almost 2 hours of driving for him to work....but its one of those things where I don't want to tell him no, if that makes sense. Anyhoo....My work stress level is now about a 6 out of 10, which came down from 9 out of 10 under the old supervisor. So there is that....looking for the positives.....I hope everyone else in this thread is making progress and accomplishing things....Have a great Thursday....
@CyclingThroughLife
It has been a week for me; but you've been moving right along. Thats great. Trying to stay on the positive side of things is pretty hard sometimes so kudo's on the effort... Keep it up. Super glad to hear about the job stress decreasing from 6 to 9. I hope that continues. And the overtime money you might be earning is always a big plus too.
I'd say something like, "You Can Do It!" but jeez Louise.... the extra hours I worked this week just about killed me so it's not easy. But I got done what I wanted to get done and I impressed the customer so now I have ongoing work at the pace that I wanna work and at the wages that I charge so a lot of good came out of that effort.
If there was a volunteer mentor type free ride program for students, that would be the most amazing thing ever. I have a personal interest in this endeavor because of how much I'm trying to work with the school kids. If I ever get my after school program going good, I'm thinking about going up to the Senior Center and see if I couldn't put some seniors and students together. I live in a very small community so everybody knows everybody and that can be a double edged sword but it's not like you know a larger city.
These kids have some great ideas of productive stuff they wanna do but it's impossible for them to mobilize and with parents working like what you're talking about, that's a lot of hours out of the day, it's a huge chunk and sometimes it's not doable.
AND it does make sense that you don't want to say no. You'll get it worked out. Good job on getting his license started too. (too bad about the $$$ though).
Our goals exist because of our dreams and aspirations. Their potencies gets tested due to failure and inadequacies. Joru.
There is a great battlefield between the land of dreams and the mountains of failure. In this land betwixt and between, you will find amazing wonders along with dismal and dire conditions. There are two armies constantly battling for control. One is Hope and the other is Hopelessness. Hope battles to increase the land of amazing wonders while Hopelessness battles to expand the dismal and dire conditions.
I am in this battlefield right now and Hope is whispering in my ear, "Be glad that you are not lost in the mountains of failure for you have been blessed with many amazing wonders as you yourself are one of them. Come join our army".
And hopelessness is bellowing over Hopes whisper saying to me, "It's not worth it, you have failed so many times and continue to do so, why do you keep trying? You're too old to make any difference and you've destroyed every meaningful relationship you've ever had. You are a sad useless sack of meat. Come join our army. It's easy, we don't have to work hard and we gain a lot of ground fast. We are about to win everything except the Hope army continues to resist us but don't let that dismay you, come join us so we can destroy Hope one small aspiration at a time".
I am sorry to say I have no uplifting words to share at the moment and I do not know how long this feeling will last.
My purpose is evading me but I will throw pebbles of defiance against the army of hopelessness. I can only hope my ordinance improves as the hours and days pass.
I do not want list all my goals for today for fear of non-completion and failure.
Just one pebble: Clean kitchen and sort kitchen table.
@IsayUncle
The interesting thing about hope, is that as long as we don't give up, we still have hope. As long as we breathe, we have options. We may not have the same option we had yesterday, but another option will open.
The other thing, our value and worth comes in here. In the middle of hopelessness, we can't see all that we are. Hopelessness blinds us to seeing the good within us. Our worth isn't in what we can do, it's in who we are.
Think about it. For someone who was before able to walk, and now their legs don't work, and they are in a wheelchair... are they worthless, unlovable and have no value? Not at all! Their value is worthwhile, they are still loveable, and their worth hasn't changed a bit. Sure, they have to learn new things like how to get around now which takes longer, and they can't climb stairs, so they need another route. But needing to try to learn different ways to do things isn't reflective of value and worth.
You, @IsayUncle, are valuable and worthwhile. Just because you don't reach your goals, or because you have a bad day or feel down. Just because you can't do something you've tried to accomplish before, doesn't make you a failure or hopeless. It makes you human.
I once heard in a podcast this speaker who was a businessman. He talked about how many times he "failed" as he was opening his business, and what he learned through each "failure" was how to become a very successful businessman. He learned each time he experienced that "failure" as not something to give up, but something to jump from to learn from and to increase his ability to see different ways of doing things.
Over the last few months, I've watched you push and go and do all kinds of things. Things that I see and think, wow, I could never do that. And yet you keep doing things. What today may see overwhelming because it's a tough day, is not a reflection of you, your worth, or your value, but of having a tough day, and perhaps things not going as planned. You have a heart for youth and being in a small town, what you do for those around you, I think whether it feels like it or not, can be a big deal to that person you did it for.

@KristenHR
Thank you Kristen like for your words of encouragement and very accurate insights. I agree that the failures are just the stepping stones to success but I feel like I'm running out of time. For the things that I wanna do, I gotta get some ducks in the row and it's just not happening fast enough.
I've been alienated from my family for about three years now and I was hoping to make amends within one year and I'm still not in the place to do it. You're talking about value and worth not being comparable or dependant upon one 's accomplishments and I know that is very true. I believe there are several wise quotes in reference to that and also there's a verse in the Bible that goes along the lines of good deeds alone won't get you into heaven. Not that I'm talking about heaven or religious matters, it's just another reference to working hard to do lots of good deeds won't necessarily fulfill you.
I feel like I've been working very hard for a long time, but now I'm starting to doubt myself. How does that other quote go? Insanity is to keep getting something wrong but doing the same thing over and over again.
I never needed anyone for validation but I always thought good deeds would be a pass to self worth and that is not true so I don't know where to go from here except to continue trying to do good things. Does that make me a bit insane or just not a quitter?
I don't mean to be so heavy right now but this is what's on my mind and I know talking about it is the right thing to do so thank you very much for listening and commenting.
@IsayUncle
I'm sorry you are battling the armies of hope and hopelessness. I have been there. It is not a good place to be. I don't think I can say anything that Kristen hasn't already said. It is the perfect encouragement and words for this situation. Please hold on, hang in there and keep your head up. I'm sending good vibes your way.
As far as accomplishing things, yesterday was a bust for me. I got up early, like I do every week on my days off, turned on the news, started enjoying my coffee and about 30 min in, I felt one of my migraines coming on. I did nothing yesterday but nurse that. I did manage to balance my accounts and pay bills, since it was payday, but most of the morning was spent on the couch, with the afternoon napping in bed. This morning, I'm still feeling the effects of the migraine. My pain scale has subsided but not completely gone. I will nurse it this morning since I have to work this afternoon. It won't be a fun day. Anyway.....I'm here supporting all you awesome people in your quest for accomplishment. Have a wonderful weekend.
I did get the kitchen cleaned and the table cleared. I also took about two hours to go get my money for the side job that I did last week, so that's done and I got some cash in my pocket and that's a good thing.
This customer has turned into a fortunate encounter. He's not on a stiff timeline, he has plenty of work to do, and I think I can pace it out to three days a week which could fit into my schedule a little easier. And equally important, he paid me when he said he was gonna pay me. That's key!
I'm gonna throw a few more pebbles at my monster and try to get some paperwork done.
says hi too! LOL
