OCD & Intrusive thoughts regulation
Hello everyone. This is my first post on this app. I wanted to share some things that have helped me in the past with OCD and Intrusive thoughts.
1) Labelling it/ Naming it — with great detail:
Naming a intrusive thought/compulsion you are having is a common advice but most people don't follow it correctly. Try to label them with stupid detail. For example: "I am anxious about the dinner tomorrow" is quite vague. Instead "I am anxious I will say something catastrophic and people will think x,y,z about me and ... at the dinner tomorrow." is better because it gives the logical part of your brain something to work with.
2) Write it down — short:
Try to write what you are obsessing over in a few sentences. If it's something that you have done or not done then write it one time in one single statement. If it's something about the future then try to write the core fear behind it, the most probable outcome & what you will do in that situation, the worst outcome & what you will do in that situation, and the best outcome & what you will do in that situation.
If you have a lot of negative thoughts then here is a short that has helped me and that might help you too:

The reason you worry about those thoughts is because you don't want to do them. If there is something that has been overwhelming you then don't hesitate to reach out for professional help. Have a wonderful day.
