Ritalyn, I'm pretty sure OCD can 'evolve' as you say. It's the same compulsive, glitchy, anxious feeling in your mind, but just presenting itself differently. I was diagnosed with OCD for perfectionism, checking my answers for school tests over and over again, getting anxious over strict self-imposed schedules. But now for sure I have germophobia as well, washing hands, fear of contamination.

Possibly some other ones like trich, agoraphobia, and death anxiety--which are all debilitating and very much anxiety disorders, but I'm not sure if classified as OCD too.

I'm pretty familiar with my'OCD feeling' by now, the physicaldread and shakiness and compulsive feeling before I have to do one of my compulsions to quell the anxiety, and it's similar for both types of OCD for me.

Marian, OCD has many many many forms. You don't need to have the checking type to have OCD.

Here's a general guide of the types of OCD, but even then it's not an exhaustive one:https://www.ocduk.org/types-ocd

If your obsessions and compulsions cause you a great deal of anxiety, and take up enough time and energy to disrupt your daily life and functioning, that is OCD, no matter what the original trigger is. OCD can be doing something over and over again to quiet down a certain anxiety, or having intrusive thoughts over and over again.

I've always thought of that obsession/compulsion part to be akin to a glitch that causes a sort of mind loop. Anything could cause the first glitch. It's the repetitive looping that defines OCD.

I have OCD with almost everything. Eating, walking, I do things in 3s or 7s, orders I drive myself insane sometimes I get sick of doing the same thing but my mind goes off the charts if I even think of nothing doing something.

So myocdis really starting to get in the way of my relationships right now and it's making me more and more anxious about it, which is making it worse, and I just feel really alone. Like a lot of people, my OCD symptoms evolve from time to time but there are 2 or 3 that I've always had trouble with. One of which isreasurrancechecking. So like, I have this fear of doing something wrong or upsetting a loved one, and so I have to constantly check that they're ok. In my last relationship it got so bad to the point where I felt out of control, ringing them 4/5 times in a morning. They were understanding for a while and then they just didn't understand how it could be ocd. They thought I was just really controlling/clingy. And for a really long time I thought I was too. I've accepted its my OCD after a lot of therapy but I'm scared of myself now. I avoid any form of new relationship because I don't want to get to that out of control stage again. It's really horrible because I feel like no one understands and then I start to doubt myself and my illness

Also, when I try to shut it off, everything has to be "just right" (I'm in my normal/wanted state) and I check why I think this way. But I still find no answer.Either Icheck to make sure if my fears are true or not, or just avoid the situation altogether. I cry when it goes overboard. And later, everything's fine. And weeks later, it happens again. It's a vicious cycle. It's like I have ademon inside me who lies to me every single minute.

I can't do this anymore. My OCD and depression are ruling my life. When the OCD gets bad, it makes the depression worse, which makes the OCD worse... It's a never ending cycle. I started with a new psychiatrist last month and see him weekly, as well as my psychologist twice a week and my PCP once a week - all for support. They've all been great - really there for me - but it's all getting to be too much to handle. I'm a social worker - I work at a psychiatric nursing home. I have to hide everything at work. The OCD is so intrusive - almost every movement I make is controlled by the OCD - touching things over and over, pressing on my ear, when I type, I hit a key, then hit backspace, then hit the key again, over and over, washing... I get stuck in these things - having a hard time breaking throughfrom the repetitive cycle. My husband can't understand what I'm going through. I know it doesn't make sense. I know logically that nothing bad will happen if I don't listen to the OCD, but there's something in me that believes it will happen. How messed up is that? I just don't know what to do anymore - it's all so overwhelming. I feel so lost and alone, even when surrounded by people. What did I do to deserve this hell?

You didn't deserve this, not at all. It's hard I know, to go through this and I bet you're feeling very much alone and singled out for getting OCD. I hope you will find some comfort in knowing that others live with OCD too and have learned ways to cope and communicate to others about it.

Sending warm thoughts to you and all the rest of us.

I don't really have compulsions with my OCD , I can definitely relate to the pain it causes. It allegory feels like your kind isn't yours, just some random word recycle bin. It's torture at its best. My only advice us to get some professional help and really sick with it, this is a mental illness and it's so debilitating. In so sorry you're going through this and I hope you all the best.. Someway somehow well get through this...
