Post Partum Depression

Hello! I just had my daughter about a week ago. I have struggled with anxiety and depression bouts pretty much my whole life. The first few days after having her were a whirlwind, but once I got home I started feeling more and more anxious and sad. I absolutely could not be more in love with my daughter and am so happy to be a mom, but my brain just does not process change well. I am normally a very on the go type of person who loves to go places with people and I struggle with feeling “trapped”, and I feel like a I went from being able to go anywhere at the drop of a hat, to now being stuck. Has anyone else experienced this before and have any ideas on how to get through this? Thank you!

I don't know if I can give any insight that can help. But I can relate. I've been struggling with PPD for 3 months since my son was born. Everyday is a blur yet so slow. And I too feel trapped both physically and mentally. There are days where I do want to go out yet I can't because I feel so stuck. Even when I do get out of the house, I'm stuck in my head most of the time and I'm not THERE if that makes sense. But I do hope you can find a solution to your struggle. I just wanted you to know that you aren't alone in what you are feeling ❤️

I'm glad I could have helped even if it was just a little. And yes I do hope we both get passed these trying times. It's been hard for me to reach out about this for months. So I feel better finding someone that knows what I've been going through as well (:

I’m a first time mom 6 weeks ago. I am blessed with a daughter too. But I totally het what u mean when u say u feel (felt) trapped. That’s what I keep saying to everyone around me when they keep telling me “this too shall pass”. Yes I am aware that this will pass but my brain can’t help feeling the pressure of not being able to do anything!!! TRAPPED! Nowhere to run or hide or reverse or get out of the situation. Yet at the same time I feel like my heart is crushed when I think ahe might be in pain or uncomfortable for amy reason! Also when I’m with her and she doesn’t stop crying I wish she would just go to sleep. If she sleeps for morw than 3 hrs I feel like I should wake her up. When I’m with her I wish I could go out alone, when I do I keep feeling guilty that I’m not with her and feel guilty for the person that’s with her having to bear her screaming! Stupid! 🥲 I think what I need is for her to have a clear schedule for when to wake up, sleep, eat, change diaper, and so on. I don’t like chaos. I always need to have a plan, and right now this is not going well at all!

I experienced this too whisper. It's very important to talk with your Dr about it, or therapist. I did not and I had long term issues that really impacted my health. You're not alone mama<3

I’m a mom of 2 kiddos. The first 6 months are really hard physically. Please tell your doctor that you’re feeling blue. It’s important that you feel as well as you can. An experienced OBGYN or primary care provider will be able to help you parse what’s normal tiredness and what may be a mental health issue. They can probably connect you to community resources such as mommy support groups, post-partum doulas, or mental health resources to meet your needs. If you’re comfortable using it, there’s probably *** groups for new moms, which I found helpful to level-set my experiences. Hugs and warm thoughts!

This is a very supportive thread from some lovely ladies! I’m also a mum of 3 and get how you’re feeling. I didn’t suffer PPD although found the huge changes difficult, emotionally, physically and mentally. I think it’s fantastic you can bounce some thoughts and feelings off each other here.
