@QuietMagic

I'm feeling hopeful about being able to finally start accepting that I need to change a good few things in my life, as I deserve to feel better in myself, it cannot only be about other people! I didn't realize, how much I've been neglecting the most basic of things, it's like it just crept up on me 💜💕

Hey, that sounds great! You do an awful lot and you're entitled to a share of the pie too. 💜 (That's relatable to wake up one day and realize that certain basic things are kind of broken and that it makes a difference.)

@QuietMagic

 How are things going lately?

things been stressful but we handling them well. with all the medical stuff going on right now more  then normal for us. with the 2 kidney  stone surgeries  and more test coming they want us to have a CT scan within next two weeks we have to call set up appointment for that now. saw our offline therapist  today was nice she said with all going on we handling it very well.  but yes it stressful and the added pain to the high pain we always in is wearing us out a lot.

but one good thing is we was to have jury duty but the psych  we see wrote note for them. so we not have to do that. she said it can be very triggering and with our spacing out and memory bad she said would not be smart to do it.

 What is something that you're feeling hopeful or optimistic about?

we feel hopeful for that the new nerve doctor will be able to help with the high pain we in 24/7 we see him on the 12th of September.  also we looking forward to the church group we belong to starting up again nest week. as it get us out around others more and we enjoy doing the things for the community also for others. each year we make cards for the military  members we do not put anything inside them. they for them to send to loved ones.  this we really like doing as we love crafts and art. so we very hopeful for more social  interaction .

wanted to let others know why we put things in more then one color. it helps with our learning disabilities  we started doing this in school when in grade school with a special  ed teacher it helps a lot for us.

I do hope all is well, and I am sorry to hear all of the things that you have been dealing with as of late. I wish the best for you. I hope everything pans out well, and I appreciate you for joining in on the check in; along with being vulnerable with us. It takes courage to express openly about important things such as this.

Have an amazing weekend <3

@InsightfulPhoenix

thank you we deal with a lot of health issues some even linked to our abuse but we came to see that with everything to go at it head on the best way  not to try to avoided  it but that can be hard at times too we went about  20yrs without any health coverage other  then when we was expecting our kids but that was only limited  to things related to that too. we so glad states have changed that a lot now cover both kids and parents as was not the case when we had kids

we also found by sharing our story it helps others but also helps us a lot too due to we was told never to tell the secrets of  what was done but it  is really powerful to voice them things to have a voice we did not have as a child or even in our marriage  there great power in voicing even writing things that happened it take the power away from the abusers we have learned this first hand hope others can begin to  have that freeing too

that why we love peers supporting pears as each can relate to others even when they not gone through the same things as trauma  is trauma

so we thank everyone here at 7 cups for being here

@stormieandpaws

Hi, welcome back. 💜

Agree 100% with your psych that it sounds like you're handling it extraordinarily well. 😊 Going through a bunch of surgeries and medical tests, on top of the existing pain, would be really stressful and disruptive for just about anybody. (I also really appreciate your psych looking out for your well-being and writing you the note for jury duty.)

The hopeful things sound really exciting too:
1) Possibly the nerve doctor being able to help with the long-term nerve pain
2) Being able to get back into the church group, socializing with people, and making the cards for military members

The color thing makes a lot of sense. I didn't make the connection to it helping with readability and structuring information. Just thought it looked nice (which it does). 😊

@QuietMagic

thanks yes a lots been going on medical stuff  due to all the health issues we have at times very stressful. but we learned to deal with it a lot better then before too. we started having bad health issues at age 32yr and even had one doctor say we be in wheelchair within 8 years. we still not in one at age 55yr so that say a lot too

the psych  we have is really nice one she listens to us and helps a lot. then we have for first time since we started community mental health. a  therapist that has more trauma  training then most others there so that helping a lot too.  we have to go through community  mental health due to being on Medicaid.  but most the therapists  there are not trauma  trained and do not go to other things to get more training. this for most just a stepping stone to get more expert  then move on to higher paying job. most fresh out of collages  too so know very little other then stuff in books. so we happy to have this one who seeking more training and is more helpful. sad that  been in the system  of mental health since we was around 30yr old and this first therapist  to really be trained in trauma  and seeking more training.

we do have a very special  friend online who due to disabilities  of her own can not longer work. but she helps many online like us who have limited help offline that trauma  based.  so for about 20 years she worked with us for free. she also survive  of abuse and also has DID too. so that helpful for us too.

she has RA due to it going  untreated for age 3yr to around age 19yr. she had to have like 83 surgeries,  so she can only help online now. but she a dear friend who truly  understand what it like to  have been abused and have DID too.

so with both offline and online help we healed a lot over the years.

the color thing helps us a lot to not like lose track of what we saying and to make it more clear for us and others.

@stormieandpaws

Yeah, it sounds like a lot of things have gone right that matter a lot and have had a significant impact: 1) finally having a therapist who's trained in trauma and interested getting more training, 2) having an online friend who has lived experience with both mental and physical disabilities and has been there for you for 20 years, 3) being able to walk for 20+ years when doctors didn't think that would be happening. 😊

@QuietMagic

yes a lot of things have fell in place that been very helpful to us one of them being 7cups as community mental health not have peer to peer support groups  and were we live not have either as northern Michigan  has  very small cities one we in is around 5000 people so very small compared to cities even downstate so we very thankful for 7 cups being here

been told we bullhead and not give into the pain we in 24/7 that why we still able to walk and even get down on floor and back up but hurts a lot too but you do what you need to do to do things you have  to have done

the friend online we had for over 20 years is about 10 years older then us but we really have connected over the years too she at times needs to vent we ok with her doing that with us as it a two way relationship we there for each other

hope you having a great start to your week

That sounds awesome! I hope you enjoy the vacation and then the internship afterwards 😊 If you're comfortable sharing (i.e. you wouldn't be doxxing yourself), what kind of stuff would you be doing for the internship?
