@QuietMagic Thanks for doing these check-ins for us! 😀
How has your week been?
My week has been going good so far! More good than bad, so I'll take it. 😀 Plus, I've gotten drastically more sleep each night where I sleep hours through compared to the past months. This, too, is a great thing!
What is something that you're significantly better at than most people?
Hmmmm. Let's see. I'm not sure what the average person is good at... but I would like to think I'm pretty quick when it comes to mental math. I don't know for sure. Now I do math the way I was taught as a kid... not this new stuff they're teaching kids. I have no idea about that. Lol.
@YourCaringConfidant
Thanks for replying to them! Getting more sleep than usual is a pretty big deal 💜
If both you and @PoliteOcean were confused by the "I don't know what the average person is like", then yeah that probably means the question was weirdly phrased. (I feel like there's a weird sort of adversarial/comparative undertone that can be read into that question, like: "How are you coming along at defeating all of your fellow humans that you're competing against? Are you winning yet?" lol)
I imagine mental math comes in handy from time to time. I've been out of school for a while and don't have children, so I'm also not 100% sure how math is currently being taught. But every so often I'll see something online of "this is the new/improved way to do multiplication" and it just looks like the old way but with a UI/skin change 😊
@QuietMagic
☀️ How has your week been?… It was well. But definitely ready for the weekend!
☀️ What is something that you're significantly better at than most people?… I don’t know about “most” people & what they might be good at or not?.. But whenever I’m in my Dance or Zumba classes I can pick up the Choreo very quickly & feel I appear to be the most coordinated. Lol
My Week is rotten. I have given up.
In the past month my 3D printer died, my car died and I got hacked 2 times.
This week I got hacked for a 3rd time, my Social Security Disability was sent to the old account I can not access anymore, and a mechanic told me my $2,000 car will cost $2,000 to be fixed.
I am isolating. Not even going outside, Not going to appointments. I don't feel like it.
Homer Simpson: "Always remember boy, no matter what you do or try, there are a million people better at it than you."
Bart: "Got it. Can't win. Wont try."
I am good at solving design problems using Art + Engineering at the same time.
@Positron2
Wow, that's a lot of things going wrong all within a pretty short period of time (3D printer dying, car dying and expensive to fix, getting hacked multiple times, losing disability payment) 😢
Understandable that things feel pretty overwhelming and it's difficult to find energy to do things that you might normally do. (Is the isolation also possibly connected to the car issues?)
That Simpsons quote is on-point in terms of the risks of telling someone "there's always someone better than you" 😊
Art + engineering sounds like a pretty unique/interesting intersection of skills that probably a lot of people wouldn't have. Were you able to get the 3D printer fixed/replaced?
@QuietMagic
💜 How has your week been?
it kinda been hard week due to flashbacks related to what happened in January and guess we feeling safer to deal with some memories of the abuse done by brother that gone
💙 What is something that you're significantly better at than most people?
thinking outside the box we seem to be very good at coming up with ways to do things most would never think of this has helped us all our life and still doses today
@stormieandpaws
Hi, sorry that the flashbacks have been tough this week, but sounds positive that the baseline situation feels safe/stable enough that you're able to process memories 💜
Makes a lot of sense that creativity and experimenting to find things that work would be something you've developed a lot over time and become an expert at if a lot of standard advice doesn't work or isn't applicable to your situation.
@QuietMagic
thank you we feel the memories of things in the abuse come when mind ready to deal with them it to us like layered so this just another layer in healing but even understanding that we still dislike the flashbacks and well being triggered by things that we never was triggered by before but triggers are like information that telling you what you need to work on so they not a bad thing but can be hard at the time
thinking outside the box for us is coming up with new ideas and ways to do things we always had this gift but lol sometimes got us into trouble like the time think we was about 3yr we got in house paint now most kids would put hands in the paint and put hand prints on thngs but not us we decided to put butt prints on a cement path way from house to small tool shed lol but dad was not happy he thought brother did it until he checked our butt saw paint on it
this memory is to us now funny but at time the punishment for doing it was awful so the thinking outside the box came to us naturally we see it as a gift
@stormieandpaws
That feels like a balanced perspective on the memories. There are layers there, they pop up when you're ready for them, and it's the next frontier in healing/working through things when they do arise--and at the same time it's pretty unpleasant when something comes up 💜
That's a very creative way to make paint prints 😊 I guess they weren't careful enough in securing the paint. 3-year-olds are going to put their hands (or butts in this case lol) in everything they possibly can
