I feel ok, no drama , but I need a vacation, somewhere I could sleep for a month and not just have to be surrounded by a million a d one things to do all day 🩷

It's been a very long week! I feel tired and sleep deprived. 🤣 All self inflicted though. Lol. Anyway, I welcome any hugs this way. 😀

@QuietMagic
☀️ How has your week been?… Started off well, but then became pretty stressful the past few days. Just glad the long Memorial Day holiday weekend is here.~ 👍🏼
🌊 What's something that you've accomplished or succeeded at lately?.. Being able to push through this week & stay on track with my personal wellness goals despite the stressors of the week~ 👊🏼
My week has been pretty up and down but I feel like I am starting to learn to ride the waves, even the big ones. I get knocked down but I'm learning to get back up on my surf board and try again. I guess that's my accomplishment: I'm starting to look at big waves differently. Whereas before I dreaded them and felt like I was drowning, now I make space for them to pass and let them be.
@TheRealWardrobe
Hi, welcome to 7 Cups 💜 That's awesome that you've been able to get to that point where even if big/pretty stressful things happen, it feels like it's possible to get through it with less friction/resistance than before.
Are there any thoughts that have helped with that, or things that you've done or experienced that felt like they've made that possible? Curious if you feel like sharing, since I know a lot of people who might not be able to do that (myself included a lot of the time 😊).
Hey there @QuietMagic
It is very much an ongoing process and I am by no means an expert, in fact I am only just beginning to have these reflections. I have good days and bad days, and during the bad days the big waves are really scary and feel like they will swallow me whole. After having so many bad days recently I noticed that if I stop and observe the situation, alot of the 'bad energy' stems from my own thoughts and dialogue about the things happening to me. I tend to get stuck in a cycle of doom thinking which makes me feel like I have no control over the situation and I become a victim. Yet in being aware of this process, I am able to find a sliver of light and regain some hope: the situation is already bad as it is, I don't need to make it worse by feeding into anxious thoughts.
Instead I try observe the thoughts with curuosity and ask them what they are afraid of and what they need. Often there is an unmet need beneath all the negativity: feeling a lack of community, understanding and connection is a common one. Then I try reach out to someone here and I feel a bit better! It also helps to try slowly win over your own trust and believe in your ability to befriend yourself. It's very difficukt but baby steps are still steps! Sitting with yourself and taking time for difficult thoughts is really important - journalling can help to get it all out on paper.
Lastly, I have just started MBT (Mentalisation Based Treatment) which I hope will help me better enotionally regulate in the future. I hope this helps privide some insight! 😊
@TheRealWardrobe
Thanks for sharing! Makes sense, just rewriting in my own words for my own benefit:
- Sometimes when you're feeling bad, you're able to notice that a lot of that is coming from thoughts
- You're able to find a middle ground where you're noticing the thoughts but still have some distance from them (if you're watching the thoughts then that means that you aren't the thoughts), which makes them feel less threatening
- You treat the thoughts as having something valid and worthy of care within them (befriending them), and you just try to identify the unmet need and see if you're able to satisfy it (e.g. if you feel disconnected, then you reach out)
Hope that the MBT is able to build on what already sounds like a really nice process 💜

How has your week been?
week went so so mostly due to health stuff and eating something that did not agree with our stomach disorder
💚 What's something that you've accomplished or succeeded at lately?
getting few things done around the apartment and working on decluttering' some still have lots more to do
@stormieandpaws
Ugh, sorry about the food/stomach situation 💜 How long does it normally take your body to recover from that?
I know from what you've mentioned in the past that the cleaning and getting things done can sometimes be physically difficult, so that's definitely something to be proud of when you're able to make some progress
@QuietMagic
thank truth is stomach never will recover it more learning to not eat some things and not eating to much as one time we bad at times with both but we try not to be but hard as some of our favorites food are big one that the stomach has hard time with like uncooked veggies and salads we not to really eat but love both it due to they already move through stomach slow even in people without stomach issues also not to have whole grains like wheat but we use to that too for years was told to eat all them things but now told they bad for us
yes a lot of physical very hard for us due to health stuff but we keep doing them as was told even in pain if you not move do stuff then you be unable to move and we not going to do that not want to end up in wheelchair yes we a fighter always have been see being bullheaded a great thing at times we always bounce back get up brush self off and God helps us do that too
@stormieandpaws
Makes sense--I've been trying to help a relative recently with some dietary/digestion issues, and yeah a lot of foods that are healthy and usually recommended (but might be slightly harder to digest) end up on the "do not eat ever" list if you have stomach issues. It's tough if you like those foods, and also tough if the list of things that you *are* allowed/encouraged to eat gets smaller and smaller.
"but we keep doing them as was told even in pain if you not move do stuff then you be unable to move" - is it sort of like you'd lose muscle mass/bone density if you don't do some kind of regular activity?
@QuietMagic
what really hard for us is when it the healthy foods we no longer to have due to being high in fiber so we have harder time eating healthy like the whole grain, raw veggies and peelings on fruits like apples them the things we use to eat a lot of but no longer to eat them much
junk food does not bother us as much as them foods so that hard as we trying to eat more healthy too
one big no no we found is fried foods as they make us sick now but we never been real big on eating them also foods that spicy even a little can really be bad even make us sick also some tomato-based foods like pasta and pizza sauces
yes if one not move they lose muscle mass and their bones will start getting weaker but the big one for most people is they start falling and then can not get back up on own
we big on still getting down on floor and up due to we not want to fall not be able to get back up but sadly many can not get up if even down on floor
