🍂How are you doing this week?
I'm doing alright right now, it's been a slightly crazy week, I didn't get enough sleep a few nights and that tends to negatively impact me. But I also made a few new friends here on cups, which was fun!
🍂What is something you are looking forward to in the near future?
I'm looking forward to tomorrow afternoon, as I promised myself that for making it through the week, I'd go to a bookstore! c:
@ahhhhelpimalive
I'm happy to hear you're doing okay! I hope you can get some more rest soon ^^ I totally understand not getting enough sleep. It's such a nightmare. I found that, when I don't get enough sleep, I'm so groggy and foggy the next day, which really impacts my functioning.
Also, the bookstore sounds fun! Lately, I've been trying to read more myself. Do you have a specific book you are looking for or are you going to browse? Any book recommendations? 😀
@LavenderFlower
Yeah! Either it's fuzzy and just difficult to function overall, or my mood and thoughts are all over the place. Neither are very fun!
No particular book in mind, I just really enjoy looking around and seeing what there is. One of my favorite books, though I already own it, is called I Wish You All The Best. Such a good book! c:
@ahhhhelpimalive
I wish you all the best in getting more sleep (easier said than done I'm sure 😥). I had a look at the book. It seems like such a pick-me-up, a great read when you feel like you need a little bit of hope and assurance. I'll try to give it a look sometime! I hope you're able to enjoy your outing and find a good book! ^^
@LavenderFlower
Thank you! I hope so to, and I wish you all the best in whatever you're doing! (:
It's a fun book, and although there are some tough topics covered, it's quite sweet and heartwarming! Enjoy!
@LavenderFlower
🍂How are you doing this week?....Doing well, can't complain.
🍂What is something you are looking forward to in the near future?.....Meeting my personal goals and the holidays ahead~
@PoliteOcean
It's great to hear you're well! And yes, Christmas is in the air 🎄 It's getting close to the time for hot cocoa and a warm fireplace. I'm really hoping to get to spend time exploring Christmas sights! Meeting personal goals is so fulfilling, and it's wonderful that you are looking forward to it! I really hope all is going smoothly. Best of luck ^^ How much longer do you think it will be before you complete them?
@LavenderFlower
You're my kind of person! lol.. I Love the thoughts of Hot Cocoa and a Warm Fireplace this time of year! And I too am hoping to spend time exploring all the Christmas sights have to offer this year.
And thank you so much for your Kind words! They are greatly appreciated..... The personal goals that I have in mind, I have been working on "on and off" for a bit now. I'm the type that has to really stay on top of my achievements when I succeed at them, otherwise, I can backslide pretty quickly if I'm not careful. And while I had reached my goals before the pandemic, the whole pandemic era of the past year kind of knocked me off track again in some areas. So... I again found myself having to pick back up and work towards achieving them again. But, Can't stop, won't stop! .... I get knocked down, then I get up again! 👍
Thank you so much for words of support! ❤️
@PoliteOcean
Nice to meet you. The part about meeting your personal goals stands out to me. That's awesome.
Hi I'm Bean,
This week has been really learning intensive out of necessity and that can be kinda overwhelming. I've been reaching out and telling people honestly where I'm at though so that's a good sign.
I'm looking forward to a call with my friend tonight and some leftovers in my fridge!
@PurplestBean
Hi Bean, nice to meet you! I would like to say that the part about "telling people honestly where [you're] at" stood out to me. That's awesome that you are able to do that. I think about the concept of "meeting myself where I'm at" in my own life.
Thank you for sharing ☺️
-Munchie
Hi Munchie!
Nice to meet you. I like that, "meeting myself where I'm at". It's so much easier to do stuff like that for other people!
@PurplestBean
Hey there, Bean. It's nice to meet you! I really feel you on the learning-intensive part. Having to learn a lot of things at a time is really overwhelming, but I think you are doing the right thing by reaching out to people you know and telling them where you're at. It's easier for people to help you with things that way since they are informed. Make sure not to push yourself too hard and reward the effort you are putting forth in your learning. You deserve it ^^
I hope you have a great time with your friend if you haven't already called them! It will be a great breather. It's great to hear someone enjoying the little things in life 😀 I'm a big foodie, I think I would be just as excited if there were leftovers for me haha. How has your work/life balance been this week with all of this intensive learning? I look forward to hearing from you~
Hi Lavender!
Nice to meet you. That's a good reminder, I'm bad at rewarding and recognizing my efforts, I will take that to heart 😊
Unfortunately my friend is having a really tough time in their life and we weren't able to have a call after all. I'm still working to process the disappointment of that, but I recognize that everyone goes through hard times.
I still had leftovers, though! I will always be grateful for food 😁
Regarding work/life balance, my mental and physical health are such that I am currently on disability and can't work in that sense. I still do as emotional labor for my community as I can healthily, though, and part of that is making sure I do the work on myself so I can do that right!
@PurplestBean
Ah, I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I hope they are okay. Hopefully soon, you will be able to have that call when they feel a little better. I'm sure it's nothing personal, they just need some time.
I'm happy you were still able to enjoy your leftovers though! Sometimes, when I'm not looking, some people take my leftovers 😂 I had to start labelling them. You must have a great hiding spot haha
You're so amicable to be trying your best to help your community during this time. It sounds to me like you have a good idea of the importance of helping yourself so that you can help others around you. You're doing great! Step by step, you got this!
@LavenderFlower
How am I doing this week?
To be honest, I am really struggling. I am learning DBT skills in a program; which is teaching me good and helpful skills. However, at the same time, on a daily basis I am carrying a load of deeper/more complex emotional pain as well as other changes in my mental health care needs. But I think that having those other mental health care needs met will serve as a relief in numerous ways. I am ultimately taking things one day at a time because I think sometimes that is just how I am able to meet myself where I'm at. I'm going to make it a goal to do more things that I enjoy doing and that at the same time can help me cope and feel more peace. That includes doing some artwork today!
What is something I am looking forward to in the near future?
I am looking forward to going on vacation for Thanksgiving. I feel like I would maybe feel more excitement about it if I wasn't working through my present challenges with my health, but I think that this vacation will hopefully be a nice break.
Thank you for asking, and nice to meet you! I hope my responses weren't too long.
@munchiegoosie
Hey there Munchie! Please don't worry about your response being too long. I'm glad you took the time to speak everything that was on your mind and let it all out. I think learning coping skills can be a bit of an uphill battle at times, but in the end, the result will really help you. As you said, it's teaching you helpful and good skills. It's okay to struggle during this time. You're going through a lot of changes on an emotional level as you try to figure it all out. Have you tried to reach out to a listener to let some of that emotional weight off your shoulders?
I'm really happy to hear your optimism and self-awareness, and it's so amazing that you're trying your best to help yourself. Taking up things you enjoy can help with balancing your emotional needs. P.S. I love art too! It's really fun to get everything out on paper and create something beautiful ^^
I hope your vacation is fun! Are you going with some friends? Any fun activities planned? Also, it's completely understandable that you're not 100% excited. I think on some level, even though improving mental health is rewarding, it's also draining. It takes a lot of energy and effort to think over everything as well as reflect. Please do take care of yourself, and remember, we are here for you! 💜
@LavenderFlower, I'm doing better this week, but I still have lots of anxiety and some very low times.
I'm looking forward to settling into my new home.
@purpleTree4652
Hi there Purple! Thank you for sharing. It's okay if you still have anxiety and low times, it's all part of the journey. I think the important thing to note is you're doing better this week. That shows some improvement, right? You're doing a great job!
Ah, you're in the process of moving? It sounds exciting! Sometimes change can be great to the senses and offer new perspectives and feelings. I hope you are able to find peace in your new home and settle in smoothly. Please let us know how it's going with everything if you have more updates this week~ I look forward to hearing from you. Stay safe and take it easy Purple 💜
@LavenderFlower, This is the 4th time I'm moving in 14 months, and the second time across the country. So it is a mixed bag of emotions. Lots of very bad feelings have been tied into these moves. This one will not be easy, either. I need all the positive vibes and prayers said for me that you can handle giving. But this move won't take place until the new year. I don't know the date yet.
@purpleTree4652
Hi there Purple, I can understand why you would have bad feelings associated with the move. Since you've moved 3 times in 14 months, I would imagine it could be quite frustrating and anxiety-inducing to do it once more. Moving can be fun in the short term since the anxiety of moving is released once the move is complete. However, in your case, you had to face this anxiety 3 times already, and now once more. On the bright side, you have a better grasp of what to expect and challenges when physically moving into a new house. I hope these can assist you in your 4th move! I'm sending you all the positive vibes and prayers during this time that I can, and I hope all goes well ✨ Feel free to reach out on the forums and chats any time for emotional help! We are here for you~
@LavenderFlower, Thank you, but this is the 16th time I am moving as an adult. It is only the 4th in just over a year. It is the most moves I have ever had in such a short time. I'm well versed in what happens in a move. It's just that I am poor and am moving in with family again, who aren't even sure they want me there. So the stress to make this living arrangement work is phenomenal on top of the move itself. Oh, and let me add that in these 4 recent moves, 2 of them are across-country. Why, you ask? I am trying to save my life. Thanks again for the good vibes and prayers. I need them. God bless you, too.
@LavenderFlower
How are you doing this week?
Just Okay
🍂What is something you are looking forward to in the near future?
Trying to figure out how much damage STPD does to a person, since, I have been diagnosed with one.
@LavenderFlower
(thank you for making this post!)
🍂How are you doing this week?
I'm well, my anxiety is up a bit due to work and some family stress, but this week has not been specifically bad.
🍂What is something you are looking forward to in the near future?
a small yoga session tomorrow morning, because I'm trying to make it part of my routine - I know it helps my anxiety.
@GreenScarab
Hi--sorry that work and family stuff has been stressful, but glad that it doesn't feel too overwhelming. I hope the yoga session was enjoyable, and that sounds great trying to build something into your routine that you know from past experience has been helpful. 💜
@LavenderFlower
What is something you are looking forward to in the near future?
Finding a therapist.
And if I fail to do so, what are the alternatives?
LIke what can I do in that case??
@rosebeinghappy18
Hi there--just wondering if you were able to find any more helpful information about STPD. I saw in another thread that you mentioned that it's hard to find therapists in your area. Maybe online/virtual therapy might be a possible option?
