In celebration of 7 Cups' 13th birthday (July 7th!), we want to recognize and appreciate the contributions, accomplishments, and milestones we achieved both individually and as a community. A "paper plate award" is a humorous, informal, and often homemade award given to someone to recognize a unique, funny, or specific characteristic, habit, or contribution, put on in various settings like schools, sports teams, or community events. In the context of 7 Cups, a Paper Plate award is given to a community member for their unique personality and contribution to the community. We will share the awards winners as part of our 13th 7 Cups Birthday events.  The rules of nomination are simple: * Anyone can nominate anyone! It became popular quickly, so I'd like to take some of that magic and sprinkle it over our listener side. This is a dedicated thread where listeners can leave messages of appreciation for other listeners! This could be someone who answered your questions in LSR, helped you level up your skills, provided mentoring, or maybe it's just someone whose presence you enjoy and feel deserves to have their day made! ...See more Hello Amazing Community, Hope you're all doing amazing and that you have a lot of cake in your life as well. Through my time with 7 Cups I had the honor and privilege to apply for a role that I thought was not going to happen to me. I came into 7 Cups in 2020 during the pandemic to push myself and try something new. Never did I think that later that year I would be a Mentor Leader and then an Ambassador 3 months later on. It has been a roller coaster of an adventure, with meeting new people, trying new things and the amazing ambassadors I have met. It has extended my family here by a lot and now need a 7 Cups House to house everyone. After a lot of thinking and reflection, I have decided to step down from the role of Community Ambassador. Currently I’m working full time which has been draining and going to college part time to get my Masters in Biomedical Sciences. The road ahead is going to be challenging, and I'm looking forward to the adventure ahead to get into medical school as well. As it’s been the passion that has gotten me here as well. Even those I’m stepping down I will be around, doing forum posts and hanging out with you all. This is a new chapter in my life, and a new beginning forward as well, a budding of new leaves. To get things rolling, Fristo created a post [https://www.7cups.com/forum/projectsandevents/CommunityActivitiesEvents_1908/InvitingideasforIncreasingMenteeMentorCommunicationat7cups_310373/] inviting ideas for increasing mentor-mentee communication and the reception was amazing. We have collected and compiled all of your suggestions and have been reviewing them to determine what’s viable. We’ll have a more comprehensive list when available, but for now, I can tell you that we’re conceptualizing a revamped Training page which will include a dedicated space for information about the mentoring program, resources, mentor list, and more. Here’s where we’ll need some help! I’ve pulled all the items out that can be done on a community level that need writers and collaborators: ⭐ Guide about mentors and the importance of a mentor in a listener’s journey (to be added to the Training [https://www.7cups.com/listener/training/courses/] page). Need someone to write some content for this updated page. Contact: me! ⭐ Mentorship Tests: Develop tests for mentorship growth, similar to AL Tests. Tests need to be drafted and written. International Resource Database Moving Forward

...See more Hello all, It's been awhile since I made an update on this project. That's most because I got a new job that has been stressful, including wrapping my head around the challenges of it and how challenging it's going to be as well. For the International Resource Database, I took on a mountain that is climbable but needs some steps to get there. From my professional and personal experience having a resource database for listeners to use for ideas on coping skills websites to give out or places that could also further support members is a great resource. Not having one, can make some chats stand still and not progress at times. The database will not give medical (in the aspect of not to cure all) and is not a perfect fit for all issues. Over the next 3 months, I will be focusing on the North America resources and will be creating a team to focus on North America only. This opportunity also has a Mentor Leader spot that will open to help run this region's database in the future, so that there's 1 Mentor Leader for each region. Current Plans: Step 1: Review the resources that we have and update them to database that I have made (some editing might be needed as Google Sheets awhile ago hated me) Step 2: Work on adding 20-30 new resources a month for the North America Resource Database Step 3: Onboard a mentor to lead the process of approving resources Step 4: Have a full team and a mentor leader to do the whole process.
