Good News! Happy Tears Serve a Purpose
Crying can be a hassle and at times confusing, most of the time it's not a pleasant experience. Culturally and socially it's been seen as a sign of weakness and overall, a negative thing. However, crying can actually be good for you. It is good for you. It doesn't mean that you're overly sensitive, just that you're overwhelmed by an extreme emotion whether it be happiness, sadness, anger or frustration.
It's actually like the emotional equivalent of sweating when you're too hot. You cry when you’re emotionally overwhelmed. And similar to the purpose of sweating when you're too hot i.e. to cool down, crying has a calming effect. It serves the purpose of providing a catharsis, in turn, promoting emotional regulation. The act of crying also releases feel-good hormones in the brain like endorphins and oxytocin similar to when you are being hugged, which also boosts emotional regulation.
Tears also promote social bonding and communication when one is too overwhelmed to communicate through words. Crying helps signify the importance of certain life events such as weddings or graduation.
At the end of the day tears are good for you, crying is good for you. If you feel like you need a good cry go cry it out! Put on some sad music or watch a sappy movie you’ll feel better after. You feel less stressed, less angry or more happy! Crazy! I know. Keeping it in won’t help, it will hurt actually, so why not?
Can you think of a time when you needed that crying session and so you did and it helped? Or when you watched a movie/show that resulted in a happy cry?

Hello Grace, thankyou for this wonderful post!
I'm glad someone said it lol, I'm certainly a #CryItOut advocate, and can list so many amazing benefits of crying xD
It does feel way better to just let it out, let the water flow hehe, between holding it in and feeling heavy And letting it out and feeling lighter....it's a wise choice to pick the latter.
It is sad that we've been conditioned to believe feeling emotional and crying are signs of weakness, I disagree as well, allowing ourselves to feel and express our emotions as we do is not a weakness, it takes strentgh to let the feelings sit and *absorb*.
To answer your question, yes, I've definitely felt better after crying it out and also been rewarded with a good sleep after a cry sesh haha.
To everyone coming across, you're not being weak or seeking attention or being dramatic or being overemotional or any other xyz irrelevant stuff the people around have made you to think...crying is natural and you're only being human.... if you're struggling to cry, holding lots of feelings and thoughts inside can be quite overwhelming, let it go.....or if may I say, Let It Flow. ❤

Cry & let it go the emotions. Letting go of emotions help also remember When life gets you down, do you wanna know what you've gotta do? Just keep swimming! We are here for you.
Hugs🤗❤
How beautifully you have experienced tears...

I can't think of a specific time when I cried and I felt so much better, but I do know that it's happened. I think if I need to cry, I like to watch the ending of The Vampire Diaries or The Fault in Our Stars. Those never fail to make me cry!! I have heard this theory that crying can help release the bad toxins in our body through our tears and that's why we can feel a little better afterwards, but I'm sure not how true it is!! 😂
Tears sure r necessary so let them flow out.
@fruityPond7887 haha i dont think they release toxins but they do have lysozymes which are antimicrobial and kill bacteria
technically they can help with bacterial acne

This is such a good read. I think as a male I always grew up with the notion that men shouldn't cry, but I think allowing you to feel emotions and go through them instead of suppressing them is a great way to get over them.
I actually have a list of sad anime scenes that I save specifically when I need an emotional "jump start" hahaha. List...
