How do you make the best of 7cups?
We've been at this site, and some of us for quite some time. Like any other place, 7cups could be positive or negative for you depending on how you perceive it and how you make use of it for your growth.
In this post, I'll share how I perceive 7cups and how I think I could make the best use of it for my growth. After I share, I'd invite you to share about the same too by replying to this thread!
What's 7cups for fristo?
7cups is a place where I come to offer kindness. I have not seen any other place as convenient and as beautiful in terms of opportunities to express kindness. There is the listener role and many leadership roles, through which one can give and make a difference in lives. There are pms, chatrooms, forums, and growth paths. 7cups is a dream come true for a giver, so it is for me as well.
I do receive too, but on its own. It is a fact that when you surrender to giving, you start receiving in abundance as people start seeing valuing in you and admiring you -they are in fact not admiring you, but they are being in awe of the kindness being expressed through you. So it's the kindness that wins the day and wins many hearts.
As a member, coming to the site in hope of connecting to a listener to get support, I haven't found it of much use to me. Some listeners are good, some not so good. With some listeners you might connect, with some you might fail to feel that connection. So it's more like trying your luck. But if you are patient, and keep trying your luck, it is a matter of time before you'll get lucky and find the listener(s) you needed for getting support.
So those were my views, my perspective, on how I look 7cups! I shared the ways I think I could make the best out of 7cups for myself. Now I invite you!
How do you perceive 7cups and how can you make the best out of it for your growth?
Looking forward to your participation!
@Fristo
I utilize the forum discussions to make sure I'm letting my brain get it's exercise the most, I always enjoyed forum communities more than chat rooms! I never fail to come across some amazing contributions. I also take very serious notes from the training courses we have, out of 66 I completed 64
@Fristo
I loved your post. I am a giver too and when 7 Cups is at its best it reminds us to our truest, kinder selves. I like to think it's a manifestation of the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible. >3
Hi my name is purple sea. I come here to help people and see than who needs help. Make sure everyone is doing fine. Give chocolate and cookies and drinks for free. Free hugs and kisses. I come to read and listen to problems that people have more than me. Then want to help them out. Thank you I am still here for you.
@purpleSea7109 Hi, Purple Sea. I'm new here. You sound like a good person. But how will you be able to send chocolates and cookies to me if I live on the other side of the world? 😅
@fearlessAcres5266
I send it to you just imagine.
I love to help those in need of support ❤️ I provide them with kindness, compassion, and a loving heart to grow and heal through the many stresses they are going through. 7 cups helped me realize that there are people in worse situations than me and I can only imagine what they are going through. Everyone has a different story, and I place myself in their shoes and I can only feel love and compassion for them. It’s very rewarding to know you helped someone overcome their worries and sadness in some way and continue to help them. On the side, I study psychology and read books about mental and physical health and study the courses on 7 cups as much as possible to amplify the support as a listener. Very rewarding journey, kindness goes a long way. ❤️🙂
I came here to look around and thought the listener concept was nice. Tried twice first one not a good match second one was extremely helpful in letting me share and vent and asking thought provoking questions.
I enjoy the forums and have sat back and observed chat rooms but not added to conversations.
if i can add to forum discussions and help it makes me feel good and seeing others with similar issues makes me put my problems in context.
I first came here about 2 years ago during a very difficult time. I was desperate for answers. The listeners I tried didn't really connect with me. I know they cannot give advice but didn't help me reflect much.
I think I also wasn't ready for this kind of forum back then. I came back to 7cups because first I needed to not feel so lonely. I hardly participated in anything the first 3 days or so. But seeing other people in the chat rooms and being there made me feel at ease.
I am now participating a little more. Connected with a new listener and although he didn't give me advice, he made me think about my concerns critically and with a new lens.
I love the activities we have here. I'm not great ar Sharing Circle, but I will keep working on it.
Being among this community simply gives me comfort whenever I need it.
Thank you for creating this space!
@Fristo
This is a great post, thank you for sharing it!
For me 7 Cups is a place I come to find support. Especially with anxiety, grief, and questioning myself. I have met some wonderful listeners on this site and made deep connections with them. What I find amazing is that I notice that I give to listeners just as much as I receive from them - especially if I have a bond and connection with them. However there are also many listeners I have not found helpful. The chat rooms are kind of a hit-or-miss for me; I realize they could just be a hard thing to regular. The forums are also a fun and creative place to share and get ideas.
Overall, 7 Cups is a place to give and receive kindness and compassion from others.
@Fristo I came here back on July 14th 2018 after losing My Furbaby and then my Dad . I was recovering from brain surgery and had moved from a home we had been in for 21 years back to my hometown to recover and be near my Daddy, son , daughter in law and others but things did not work out totally .
I lost Dad unexpectedly and I needed a place to talk about things with others and the past places I had went to deal with my anxiety, depression and agoraphobia had shut down their site selling them to corporations.
Finding this site on a google search typing in anxiety chatroom's. I came and seen this and was like Woah what a huge site! So I came in as a member connected with some listeners and sure some were not so great and some where pretty cool and then the chatroom's back then were totally different and just super cool to me because of having so many when other sites would have only 1 or 2 rooms. I joined the disability chatroom and was welcomed with open arms!! I miss the old gang they are no longer around but I owe them so much! ❤️
I decided I wanted to be a Listener because I had dealt with so many things over my many years here on this big old ball we call home. Becoming a Listener was great to me really and then doing the trainings , becoming a room supporter then mod then global mod out in the member rooms . We all had a great time we really did. I do miss the old rooms being opened and so many not around any longer but we have some amazing members and listeners!
Working in Healthcare and then myself going through my own battles does help for sure when supporting others.
I tell everyone I know about this site and recommend to those that are needing support . Is this place perfect no not at all but no place is and no one is perfect.
I am Grateful and Blessed also very Thankful to have found this place ! Compassion Corner ( lol ) was the rockin wildest room ever and I so loved that challenge ! 😄They called me Granny mod and I was not even a Granny back then! lol
Okay well I am sure some will say Tye is a Listener and sharing way to much but ya know what I am Proud to be A Listener and someone who does their best to stand up for others when they are afraid too or worrying about things and people .
I can say if today was my last day here or all my badges are removed at least I Tried and I conquered and I would do it all again ! ❤️
We have some great leaders , great members, great listeners and Glen the owner is a pretty cool feller !
Peace and Love to you all. Tye
Recovered Agoraphobic! Brain Tumor Survivor!! Granny most of all !!! 👍❤️😋
@Tyedyedbutterfly65 Tye always speaks from heart!
@Fristo Thank you but trust me my brain goes faster and my mouth even faster ! I do wear my heart on my sleeve sometimes way to much.
Fristo you are sure one awesome peep yourself! Happy Birthday again even if it is over ! 😊You are sure loved around here !! ❤️
@Fristo
I also want to add that I miss the name 7 Cups of Tea…
It had such a lovely ring to it!
I like to use this site to help me try to overcome my anxiety talking to people. I can come here and find topics that I can relate to and either share my experience or just be supportive. I have a real issue talking to people in my life, so it is a goos therapy exercise for me. I don't utilize talking to a listener yet because of my anxiety... I am not ready for that step. Forums are more comfortable for me at this time. I also like to use the growth paths and learning material on the site for expanding my understanding and helping develop coping skills.
