7 Cups is 5!

London just turned 6 yesterday. Having my youngest turn 6 is a significant step for our family. We no longer have any little kids! So what did we do, we got a puppy!

I was watching the birthday video that MonBon put together. Those birthday videos are my favorite 7 Cups videos. I think they really capture who we are. They are beautiful. One person said – 7 Cups you are now 5 – go to kindergarten! It is true. 7 Cups is growing up! And growing up much faster than anticipated.

Bill Gates has famously said that we overestimate the amount of change that will occur in the next 2 years and underestimate the changes that will occur in the next 10. If you look at all that we accomplished short-term itd be significant, but maybe less than what we hoped to achieve. However, if you zoom back and look at what weve accomplished over the last 5 years, it is really hard to not be blown away. Im biased of course! I love what we do and am proud of us, but Ive also talked with a lot of people and they are also pretty blown away by what we have collectively accomplished.

It is remarkable.

As Ive said before, I want 7 Cups to be around for a very long time – ideally hundreds of years. We have a long ways to go, but, like with much of childhood, the early ages are really critical. It is where much of the foundation is set for the rest of the persons life. All of those early milestones matter in the formation of the personality. Those early years can heavily influence the direction of the persons character for years and years to come. On this fifth birthday, I want us to take a step back and look at the community that is 7 Cups. Weve done a very good job building this foundation together. It is strong and getting stronger. It is smart and getting smarter. We are just getting started and have a long ways to go, but the critical elements are in place to make sure we stay true to the trajectory that we started out on. We know true north and we wont forget it.

And one last big thank you to each you- from volunteer leaders to all the listeners and members, we thank you for being part of our incredible support network! And remember, The 7 Cups mission is for anyone who wants to live in a world where the human experience is free from stigma and stereotypes and rich with love and support. A world where all 7 billion of us can grow and feel like we truly belong. Thank you for helping us work towards this goal! We are getting there!
