@Laura, thank you for starting this thread. It's a wonderful idea.
To be honest, I can't quite remember the time when I've truly beenhappy but I am trying to see the positives in everything every day. It isn't always easy, especially when you are trying to get back up on your feet after a string of unfortunate events that flipped your whole world up side down, but baby steps. Every step counts.
One of my favorite happy moments was spending time with my mother at one of the famous tourist spots in my city. It was one of our first real exclusive mother and daughter trips since an unhappy incident that shook our family life. I have always had a love for music so one night, my mother decided to take me out to visit the stretch of reggae, grunge and EDM pubs and open air cafes and clubs around where she was working. We got all girly with some mascara and lipstick, hair loose, and wearing skirts and sequins. We went to a reggae cafe where I fell absolutely in love with the whole place. The resident guitarist sang a few songs for us, 'November Rain,Songs of Freedom',About A Girl,Last Kiss,Wish You Were Here, and House of The Rising Sun. It was all so lovely: the people, the atmosphere, the smoke, the music, the sound of the busy street blending in with the melody from the guitar, the songs and the messages contained in it.It was euphoric.
It was one of the happiest moments in my life because I was sharing it with my mother and because I felt so free.
@TheWriter that sounds like such a beautiful moment! I'm glad you got to experience it :)
Hi @Laura,
Once upon a time I was an administrator at a military school in Florida and one of my former students, who dropped out his senior year, joined the Airborne and was sent to Iraq, where he was a combat medic. He was gravely wounded but he came back the most decorated soldier in his unit. when he returned to Florida on leave, I asked him to attend our graduation. At the time, a two star marine general was running things, and what this former student did not know was that this general was going to present to him an official high school diploma. We counted his 7 months in Iraq as an internship or whatever in place of his senior classes. So this kid got a standing ovation from about 100 people, got his diploma, and was saluted by a general. I arranged it. That was not only the best thing iIve ever done in my life, but also the happiest I have ever been. I will never forget the look on his face.
That should be 1100 people, not 100 people lol.
Oh wow @CounselingInsite that is honestly so awesome. It's heart-warming that your happiest moment was one in which you performed such a wonderful deed![]()
Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate them.
This is such an inspiring story to hear. Zara is right on, the fact that helping someone else is what makes you happy speaks volumes about your character. You are awesome, and what you did was awesome, and what you do now here is awesome!![]()
Thanks! I appreciate that!
My happiest moment probably had to be when I got into my high school! It is an arts magnet school, so I had to audition to get in. It was super nerve-wracking but I did it and it is my home away from home now![]()
Aww @RebeccaEmily - that sounds so awesome! I'm so happy that it happened for you and that you love it dearly now![]()
Thank you Zara! It is so amazing and auditioning was the best decision of my life :) Thanks dear![]()
One of my happiest moments, as corny as it sounds, was joining this site and meeting such wonderful people. I can't imagine what life would have been like if I hadn't pressed that 'Become a Listener' button, and joined this community of such warm hearts!
That is so sweet! Zara, I speak for everyone here when I say we are just as happy, if not happier about your being here! You are so nice and encouraging to everyone on the site, and always have the greatest things to say. You are so uplifting, and it is a trait I really really admire. Thank you for being such an inspiring person, Zara! We appreciate you![]()
Haha, well this is an embarrasingly hilarious story yet made me happy.
I was standing in the kitchen with my gran and I was making food at the time. I was talking about my sore ankle and while I was saying how sore it was, my gran said "shake it" I was like "what?" she repeated herself so I did.
"What are you doing?" she asked. I said she told me to shake it. Well, little did I know that she was meaning the tomato sauce bottle I was holding at the time.
I have never let that down since! May as well share my humility with you guys too. Haha.
A happy moment in my life was in September last year when my long-distance boyfriend (we met on omegle, not the best websiteI know, but he was a genuine guy and not a creep, I made sure of that
) arrived at my door, with boxes and bags full of his stuff to move in with me. That day made me so happy because I finally felt like I had a constant support in my life, knowing that he would be living with me, there for me to talk to, in person rather than through a screen, whenever I needed him was just amazing. Soppy story I know but happy nonetheless![]()
My dream for years was to go to University. I had that as a goal pretty much through high school. My education was pretty normal until I reached my 4th year of high school and things started to go down hill. I began to develop a series of chronic health issues which in turn caused me to have a lot of time off school. I began to spend half my life admitted to hospital. By what should have been my last year at school I had not attended an entire week of school all year and my attendance was down to 42%. I still dreamed of going to University. People began to tell me to give up. My teachers at school said I would never get the grades, my boyfriend at the time said I was wasting my time etc. My parents stuck by me through everything. I went to my school and asked if I could do a repeat year of my last year at school to which they agreed. I finished school at 19 years old after sitting my final exams (I needed BBBB to get into University). I attended 7 weeks of summer school which was set at 1st year University level after finishing school as it would increase my chances of my acceptance to University. The exam results were published and I had gotten BCC which wasn't enough to meet my conditions. I was still accepted to University where I still am studying Psychology :)
