Book challenge! Reading all my books!

Woo hoo! I love to read too! I’ve so far read four books since the start of the year. Hopefully I can do big numbers too!

alright first off, i had this huge long post typed out and my computer glitched and now its gone so take 2

Progress report! i finished The weight of our sky. 7/10 it was super super good and i was totally involved and invested from the start. now im going to put my favorite part and my least favorite part of each book when i finish it :D. so my favorite part was actually the title. Those of you familiar with John Green (the fault in our stars, turtles all the way down) will know what im talking about. For those of you who don't, John Green often uses 1 sentence from the story for the title. the fault in our stars comes from a statement made while drinking champagne, super simple yet so important. The weight of our sky comes from a malay saying used throughout the story (i would type it out but i wish to not mess it up) it *roughly* translates to we must hold up our sky where our feet are planted. essentially you must hold up the sky (your grief, trauma, and yk all that fun stuff) to keep your world safe. my least favorite part was the fact that a song was mentioned as a classic but in 1969 it would have been a new song so idk, and the fact that a guy went missing and was uh never mentioned again. no one even missed him and he was my favorite character.

anyway- the next book is Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews. I love this book so much its so funny and great. im already enthralled and i just started it last night. now im going to start listing how i obtained my copy for each book. i bought this book summer 2020.... right before my life fell apart for the first time. this book was not okay for a 12 year old seeing as it is very very vulgar and just not something a 12 year old should be shown. yet i read it, and i loved it, and i still love it. while sometimes it can be a tad much its just hilarious and funny yet so sad. i shall finish it today and post about it later *jeffy out*

Oh my goodness! I love this! I haven't counted them, but I have a big backlog of books myself, ranging as you said from early A.D. (a couple maybe B.C.?) to the present. I got into the habit of listening to audiobooks, but I yearn to use some discipline and sit down and do some reading each day. I probably average around 50 pages at BEST, so I am super impressed and cheering you on heartily! 300 pages a day is fantastic! I may be the turtle in this challenge, but I believe I will do my best to try and at least read a few pages each day, and I would love to see your progress and cheer you on!

I would love to share my favorite anecdote about unread libraries, which I sometimes recall to console myself when I think of how many books I have yet to read. Here is the link to a great article on Umberto Eco's concept of the "anti-library":

How many of these books have you read’ and the others — a very small minority — who get the point is that a private library is not an ego-boosting appendage but a research tool.”

So, in this spirit, I join your conquest while reminding myself as ever, that if I do not get through all of them, it is alright; when I need the book, it will be there, and while I pick which ones to digest, the tools will always be at hand. So don't be too hard on yourself in your conquest, but know that I believe in you, and will be happy to cheer you on while I trudge slowly through my own reserves of unread beauties. <3

first off i need to apoligze

today is the 3 week mark and i am barely into my books at all. i also had a death in the family so its just been hard to pick up a book but im trying and im doing okay.

i also finished me and earl and the dying girl on Wednesday. it was funny and great and my favorite quote was "please hold still while i stab your legs so you cannot run when we are overtaken by the Biting Ones." that's all i got.

started the firekeepers daughter last night. its a good book :D its like really long (400 smthn pages) but im already on page 50. so yea

sorry this post is weird im just not feeling it.

Had to stop reading the fire keepers daughter right when I got into it for the book club book for themonth. I just started yesterday and I'm almost done with Gallant by v.e. Schwartz. It's really good. Creepy. I should finish tn, better post when books done.

Oh uea it's full of so many awesome quotes it's gonna be hard to chose a favorite.

sorry its so hard to write forums on my phone browser, everything so tiny XD my thumbs click the wrong buttons on the forum.

so i finished Gallant. it was okay, i kinda fell asleep over the whole *banishing the bad guy* part, it was literally a paragraph i just missed. 5/10

favorite quote- 'Stay with me. Stay with me. Stay with me. I would write the words a thousand times if they'd be strong enough to hold you here."

Please note: Gallant is the book club book for this month so i had to go out of order, i will be skipping when i reach it in the alphabet tho.

the firekeepers daughter is almost done. its about 500 pages and ik i should be done but things have been chaos and i keep getting really bad headaches so i unfortunelty cant read when those happen :D

Yesterday was one of, if not the first day I've met my quota since my grandfather passed. I finished firekeeper's daughter and I would have kept reading except I felt safe enough to curl up in bed.

firekeepers daughter- 6/10. this book would be a lot higher ranked and I would like it more except the main character is unnecessarily sexually assaulted and it goes into great detail. Apparently, I didn't catch that part speed-reading it the one time I did read it, but I had to skip a few chapters this time because it was too much. my favorite quote is "alls fair in love,hockey, and meth" idk it was funny to me :D

next up is the first in a series : Shadow and Bone! i love these books sm, this should be a fast read.

also like all this cover art is soo pretty, maybe when i finish each shelf ill line up all the books and take a picture of the covers for yall :3

I've finished shadow and bone! no quotes really stood out to me, the cover are is sooo pretty oh my gosh lol. i rate the book 7/10 just because i didn't notice all the casual sexual references in the book until reading it more recently. the fantasy world is very hard to understand the first time, so it took forever, but the second time its super easy to read and i love it so much.

the book im currently reading is siege and storm, the second shadow and bone book. i didn't read for a few days but im back and should finish the book today!
