On writing:

Yes all us writers would all like to be blessed like J.K.Rowling. We want money. We want love from others. We want to touch lives through our words. We want to make a difference.

But ultimately-- expression is about being true to yourself. If it clicks with others and brings the blessings you wish , then great. But even if it doesn't, connecting to your truth through it is the right job done. Outcome is irrelevant- joy matters.

This idea is beautifully explained in Anne Lamott's "Bird by Bird". I would recommend to anyone struggling with writing perfectionism as she emphasises authenticism. I read it twice but I didnt feel it till I actually started finding solace through my words - even when no one was reading or appreciating.

I trust this now.

@Creamyyy

An authentic story is perfect in its imperfection. I'm not sure there is such a thing as a perfect story. As long as you're staying true to yourself and putting your heart on paper, the story is good.

I don't believe you used AI to write this.

@cyanessence 7 words used from AI support. I think that much support to make your point shouldn't be penalised, and I wouldn't accept it as constructive criticism, especially when you are already acknowledging credit of the original idea to the source you heard it first from - the writer I mentioned.

When I first read her (Anne Lamott) work - and I read it twice- i didnt accept it from my heart - although I knew she was making sense - I wrote this post only to express my growth - in acceptance of an idea that makes sense to one's inner truth... writing your thing even if it is meaningless feels cathartic ... and that's the joy we all need ... of course is people connect with you too its a cherry on top.

You're right - an authentic story is perfect in spite of its imperfections ... (gosh did i just plagiarise you too? 🤣)

Thank you 💛

@Creamyyy I'm a writer, too! What kinds of stories do you write about?

@Kaleigh3067 I've written a few stories only. and discarded them as well. I mostly do journaling.

Topics / themes in my writing are: family relations, romantic relationships , faith religion and spirituality, mental health and self love, racism and equality, exploring justice within governance.....

What interests you?

That’s really interesting, I used to do journaling only too because I never thought I was good enough to be a writer. Now, I’ve decided to commit to writing anyways, and just get better along the way. My writing also entails mental health themes and family relations, but I’m writing a sports drama right now. They contain themes of mental health, but it’s centered around the sport of women’s wrestling, since I think women’s wrestling doesn’t get talked about enough.

@Creamyyy

Authenticity is key 🥰 The beauty of writing is we can all be writing ultimately about the same event but it will still be conveyed differently!
