Am I just prolonging the inevitable?
I don't know if I'm just prolonging what will eventually come to pass. Am I putting us both through this pain, holding on to something that will just end anyway? We both want this marriage to work, it's been almost 20 years, we have 2 beautiful daughters, a dog, a house, we have what should be the perfect life. I can't picture my life without her beside me, I always thought we would grow old together, but now I'm not so sure. And how would a divorce affect my kids? What's worse your parents getting divorced or having to hear them argue and fight regularly? I feel like I've forever messed up my kids and I feel absolutely horrible about it. I'm just lost, I feel so lost.
@carpenter83 I am sorry you are feeling the pain of a relationship that is not what it once was. That is something I see many people go throuigh. When the kids leave two people look at each other and see someone very different from who they married.
Have you considered going to therapy? It is not easy to think of ending a relationship after so long.

@carpenter83,
people unfortunately tend to start counseling too late. Have you ever sit down with your spouse, having a nice cup of tea, no distractions, turn off your mobiles and tell how you feel? Truly feel? No judging, no blaming? Trying to understand each other's feelings? If you just sit opposite each other, and just look into each other's eyes, do you two keep on looking? Do you feel connected? If so, not all is lost. Meaning that both of you have changed doesn't mean u are no longer connected. Worth trying . take care.
