Introduce yourself to the 7 Cups Breakup & Divorce Community - December!
We are here to support you! Please introduce yourself here in this thread!
I just wanted to share my experience with anyone who is dealing with divorce or breakups. I got married when I was 20 to a guy who was sort of my high school sweetheart. He had a lot of plans when we graduated and as we were getting married. He was in the national guard, and he planned to go to school for computer science. Well, a year into our marriage, he had failed out of college and was about to get kicked out of the guard for not maintaining his weight or passing the physical training tests. He also had either been fired from or quit about five different jobs. I was miserable. I was in school, working, and doing everything at home. I wanted to leave, but I was embarrassed to have married him, embarrassed that I had been so wrong about him, and didn't want to be divorced at 21. Another year and a half of struggle and misery later, I did divorce him. I was convinced that I was a horrible person for leaving him and that God would never bless another marriage. My family was supportive of the divorce, but they had not been supportive of the marriage.
Now I am remarried with a beautiful little girl. I have a hard working and loving husband who is always there for me. I am also closer to the lord than I have ever been. While I am not saying that divorce is always the answer or even that divorce is ok, I am saying that you deserve happiness, and there are blessings in your future. Don't give up on yourself.
I'm not exactly sure what i'm doing on here. What I do know is that I'm depressed and I have been for a long time. I met my ex-Husband four years ago. Our first date was actually June 10, 2011. And it was something I never felt before, and he was everything that I as a single mom for the past 4 years, had been looking for. He was so handsome, had so much carisma, so smart with 2 college degrees, a faithful Christian. He was perfect. The day after our first date he left to go to the beach for a week. On June 13 2011, I was leaving work and was in a terriblecar accident. I had to be air flighted to a hospital. When he found out he came home early from the beach and helped take care of me. I started having seizures shortly after the accident and was in and out of the hospital, and he was by my side every time. I knew he was the one for me. My daughter loved him, my family loved him. We were married December 2011. Things were really great for about a year. In November Of 2012, I was in a another car accident, I had a seizure while driving. After that the doctors told me no driving until i could go six months seizure free. This is when things for me kinda started to go down hill. I hadn't worked since my first accident, I was told i couldn't do my job having seizures. So when i was told that i couldn't drive this left me at home all day. I went from a person that was used to working 40-50 hours a week to sitting at home everyday not able to leave the house. A few months after we were married, He had talked me in to selling the home I had gotten for my daughter and I, and he moved us about 70 miles away closer to his work. I knew no one, my daughter started a new school.after our year anniversary, he started going out more. Come straight home after work take a shower, and leave. He would say he was going out with his brother, or going to play basketball, or going to help do something at the Church. But never asked to take me with him. One day I noticed text coming in on his phone. "Oh that's Jenny, Linesay, Valerie we have been friends forever" Ok. that's fine but why am I just now hearing about them. Then one night he left his email open, and i found email exchange and pictures of a girl that I knew very well. When I asked him about it he said they were just friends. I let it blow over. about 8 months later which was June of 2014 he told me he had to go to Ohio for some work training. He packed up and left Thursday morning. was gone the weekend came home late Sunday night. Monday morning, I get up, get him off to work, my daughter off to school, and my phone rings, it's my brother, which is really odd because he would never call me that early in the morning unless someone was dying. He Says "Sis, I need to tell you something that i have debated all weekend about telling you or not" I say "Okay" He says " I saw Justin Friday morning on my way to work having Breakfast with Samantha in the old family resturant" A couple towns over from where we lived. my heart sank!!! I had the gut feeling but to actually know that someone i trusted saw it with their own eyes. The betrayal killed me. How could this man promise me forever and do this to me? How could a strong, god fearing man, stand before the Lord and say those vows and throw it all away?
I know that I hadn't been the best wife. I know that now looking back. I was depressed. I still am. I have to sit at home everyday and I can't go anywhere unless someone takes me. And when we where first married, they were trying me on so many different medications it affected my mood, and my sleep, and my weight. I gained about 50 pounds while we were married. He was a very goodlookingguy, worked out everyday. When we first got together he used to tell me how beautiful I was, how lucky he was. In the end it turned into, no one would want me, I'm embarrassing to take into public because I have seizures.
It's now a year later, we are divorced. I have lost 65 pounds because I wanted to look amazing walking into that court room. But I still don't see that old confident women in the mirror. I feel broken and lost all the time. I have no friends, no one to talk to. I talk about self-harm 24/7 the only keeping me from doing it is my daughter. I don't think I will ever be happy again.
Hi everyone. I am currently going through a divorce after 5 years of marriage. The hard part isn't reallythe divorce itself. We have twins (age 4) and have been parenting together fine for the past year. My soon to be ex-husband suffers from PTSD. We were both active duty in the military. However, the things causing his PTSD happened before we were even together. He had been suffering with it forapproximately 3 years before we even meteachother.Long story short, his PTSD had gone untreated until it had completely consumed him. He is a completely different person than the person I met. He doesn't even really know who he is anymore. The hard part is that there is no telling how long it will take him to recover, if he ever does at all. Hopefully some of this made sense to someone.
Hi! My name is Casey. My parents got divorced when I was 2. My dad is now on wife number three. Mom never remarried. I'm now married and am 1000000% dedicated to making my marriage work and making the home I never had for my future kids.
Hi Casey, just want to affirm you for this... and in sharing with us you are an inspiration to others. Its possible to repeat what we learned in our own family, but we can do it differently. Thank you for this encouragement.
Found out my 5year son whom I love to bits is not my BIO son!!! My girlfriend denies it agressively, but I have the DNA test which excludes me as the BIO Father by 100%!!! I dont want to break up, because I love my little dude too much...but I cannot love her anymore...this is just too much for me to work out. We both have really just been there for the child...we both know it but dont say it. I fear If I instigate a seperation she will leave with my boy and I wont see him again (She has made insinuations of this before).... Advise would be great..
My ex broke up with me (in an email) in December 2012. I was 100% hurt, humiliated and embarrassed. I had always been strong and independent and just this one time I decided to let my guard down and give my all. I'm over him I don't want him anymore, but I just can't shake this sadness that came over me when it happened....I' ve done counselling, I've tried newactivities....tobe honest the pain is not as hot as it was when it just happened, but it's still close to 90%. I'm tired of crying and feeling sad, and tired of not being able to go back to the joyful person I was before it happened.I just feel robbed
Hey! My name is Heather and I am a psych major with hopes to one day specialize in Relationship and Marriage Counseling. I have always been interested in relationships and they way they work, so specializing in that field always made sense to me. I have had many relationships ranging from abusive to loving, and kind. I hope to one day help others to realize their worth inside their relationships and how to move past certain obstacles that we all face. I hope to make a difference one day! Looking forward to being a part of this community and reaching out to others that are facing struggles that I've faced before or will one day face:)
Hello All. I am going through some pretty tough times right now. My divorce is set to be final a week from today. I'd known my husband since high school and we have two children. I thought we were best friends and put a lot of faith in him, but due to alcoholism he has completely checked out of marriage and parenting. I am so sad, depressed, disappointed and angry that it's hard to get up and do the day to day things that I have to do. To make matters worse I am currently jobless since I was a sahm while married and now living with my parents which is tumultuous to say the least. I even had to go down to the welfare office an apply for food stamps, much to my humiliation, so that I can afford to feed my kids. I desperately want a job, but I'm not getting anywhere with the application process. I have an MBA and several life/wellness/pregnancy coaching certifications so I feel like the process of finding a job should be much easier than it is and I'm getting very discouraged. Rationally I understand what goes into alcoholism and why he is the way he is, but emotionally I'm just so very, very hurt and raw over it. I often wonder how did I get to this point?
Hi all.
Been married for 4 years - together for 6. My wife told me that she doesn't love me anymore some months ago. She said that somewhere along the way, we became friends instead of lovers. I love her and I want her to be happy, so I am trying to do the friends thing. Some days are harder than others. We are separated, but still cohabitate for financial reasons. At the end of the day, we are trying to handle this maturely. I am glad that I have found somewhere that I can vent about this.
