She cheated and I can't move on
I found the girl im dating for 5 years cheated. We were friends and classmates since we were 15. We started dating when we were 17. It was the happiest relationship I've been in. She was the best girl I've ever known. She's there when im down, and im there with her. Until this 1 day, i saw her picture with a guy on Instagram. She tries to denied it saying he was a friend. I trust her because that's what relationship is about. Trust, love and honesty. Few days later, that guy uploaded a new picture, but this time the comments were congratulating him for having a beautiful girlfriend. I couldn't breath when i saw it. Then i ask he if this was all true, and she admitted it. They were dating for months behind my back. She said she still loves me and didn't want me to get hurt so she stays quiet hoping she could find the right moment to tell me. How could a person who says they want to marry me and have kids together, live in a beautiful house and just be together forever, suddenly cheated with a guy she knew for a few weeks? For 5 years I've sacrifice a lot, i even quit my job so i could spend more time with her. The last thing she said was, "I still love you, i love you forever and I'm sorry that i hurt you this way. Im really sorry. Goodbye babe." and then she went on to block my number and block me from social media. It messes up my mind so much to a point where i literally almost committed suicide.
@Shanemandem As a listener here on 7Cups, I’ve seen how often people get trapped trying to make sense of someone who was never honest. We’re not here to judge, just to help each other see things for what they really are.
“She was just scared.” “She needed space to figure things out.” That’s what they said. That I should be patient. That love takes time. But confusion doesn’t explain lies. Fear doesn’t justify manipulation. And “space” doesn’t excuse betrayal.
People aren’t confused about cheating, they’re confused about how you caught them. They’re not unsure about leaving, they’re just afraid of being clearly seen. And when you finally do see them, their only move left is to rewrite the story, paint you as the villain, call you names they know aren’t true.
She once said she adored you. Later, she claimed it was “too early to feel anything.” When someone has no truth, they fall back on timing as an excuse. You weren’t in love with them. You were in love with the person you hoped they could be — the version that never showed up, because it never existed. People without integrity don’t just lie, they weaponize the truth you trusted them with. I’ve seen things that would make the devil blush.
You didn’t lose someone who needed time. You lost someone who ran out of masks, someone who tried to ruin your name to protect their own image. Someone who could do all that… without a conscience.
That’s the irony: every lie revealed more about them than it ever did about you. And when their mask falls، run, like I did, Be smarter than the role they cast you in.

“She was just scared” “She needed space to figure things out” “She was struggling with herself” That’s what they said. That I should be patient. That love takes time. But confusion doesn’t explain lies. Fear doesn’t justify manipulation. And “space” doesn’t excuse betrayal. Struggling is one thing. But none of it, trauma, meds, confusion, justifies throwing the very people who cared under the bus.

@Shanemandem As a listener on 7Cups, let me tell you, no one deserves to be betrayed. But sometimes, betrayal doesn’t just reveal who they are, it shows you what they were there for in the first place.
That’s why I always tell people: test who’s beside you. Not to see if they can give, but to see if they stay when you have nothing to give. That’s how you spot the ones who aren’t just hungry..But starving for status, for validation, for a better offer.
Let them think you’re tired. Emotionally. Financially. Let them believe you’ve got nothing to offer. Nothing to shine with. And watch who quietly starts checking out. Because the one always looking for an upgrade will never see your worth, only your limits.
And the worst part?
You kept giving her chances, thinking honesty would make her stay. But honesty only made her uncomfortable.
So, you weren’t in love with her, you were in love with the version you hoped she’d become. A version that never existed, and never will. And people like that don’t just lie, they weaponize your truth.
They lie to their families. They lie to themselves. Because the mask served them better than the mirror.
She once said she adored you, not out of depth, but to hook you in. Because some people don’t fall in love, they perform it. Just enough to pull you close, until they find better, or until you see too much. Then they flip the script, play the victim, and make you the villain.
When someone has no truth, they hide behind timing. It’s not about love. It’s about cover.
They said she was scared. That she needed space. That she was struggling with herself. And I was told to be patient, that love takes time. But trauma, medication, or confusion don’t excuse betrayal.
Because people aren’t confused about betrayal, they’re only confused about how they got caught.
So they rewrite the story, suddenly, you become the paranoid one. The jealous one. The toxic one.
Those labels weren’t about you. They were about fear. Deflection. Projection. Because deep down, they knew you were right, and that terrified them.
You didn’t lose someone who needed time, you lost someone who ran out of masks. Someone willing to destroy your name to protect theirs. Someone who could do all that without a conscience.
Every lie revealed more about them than it ever did about you. And when that final mask falls, don’t chase. Don’t explain. Run.
Not out of weakness, but because dignity doesn’t seek revenge. It watches in silence.
Let their lies echo. Let your silence speak louder than rage. Because peace isn’t forgetting. It’s knowing you saw the truth and walked away anyway.
Be smarter than the role they cast you in. I’ve seen what she was capable of, and trust me, even the devil would flinch.
