Hope this thread finds you doing safe and healthy, people!💛

Honestly, this thread is inspired by a random post I saw on a social media platform asking about “the last straw that helped you leave the relationship and move on?” And it had some really insightful advice in the comments, some were also super hard-hitting hehe and a little heartbreaking too on what kinds of things are happening around the world~ (this was mostly inclined towards romantic relationships only)

It made me reflect a little because it was one of those questions one would actually sit and think about xD if they’ve been through something like that or going through it!

Courtesy to which, we have this discussion post now~

Life has a funny way of throwing curveballs, especially in our relationships, I feel. Sometimes, despite our best efforts, we reach a point where we have to accept things as they are and find a way to move forward. This isn't always easy, and it takes immense strength and courage. (Truck lots of itttt) 🫠

But I know that we aren’t alone in this and soooo I’d love to open up a supportive space here for anyone relating to this! 💛

I’ll ask the same here because I feel, even if it hurts to accept and let go or enter the “in my healing era” journey in your life after the loss of a relationship with someone you may have never imagined a forever-without~ at times, there’s a little “switch” and it can really be helpful in finally shutting doors that leave you feeling stuck when open!

This switch usually comes from within I feel~ your best friend or your love ones can tell you N number of times that you deserve better, so can your listeners here or someone in the mental health professional capacity, but truth be accepted~ the actual realisation and the final courage to take a step towards your better-ment~  it often comes from within only!

Sometimes it can be reminders that~ "You can't change anyone else, only your reaction." OR that "Your peace is worth more than this struggle." OR when you are learning to set a firm boundary. OR Understanding that some chapters are meant to close. OR when you are focusing on self-compassion and healing.~ different thoughts for different people.

What was your “switch” in your last relationship/ breakup or divorce?

What is that one piece of advice, a powerful realisation, or a specific tip that genuinely helped *you* accept a difficult relationship situation and begin to move on?

Sharing these insights can be incredibly powerful for others navigating similar challenges as your experience might be what someone else needs to hear to find their own path to acceptance and peace as well.

Also the fact that when you’re stuck in survival mode, it’s easy to slip out on moments to reflect on your growth and to applaud your strengths ~ you’re allowed to have a space to share about all of it!  Let's support each other in letting go of what no longer serves us and embracing the journey forward.

What's something you’ve learned the hard way in your past relationships? 💛

@Sunisshiningandsoareyou Thank you so much for this very deep, thought provoking post! If there's one tip I could give it would be to not live life for others. When I say that, I mean don't put your identity into other people... not even your spouse or children. Take it from someone who's gone through it, when you live for others and put your whole identity into being that parent or spouse... what do you have left of you if things don't work out? If that happens, you lose a part of you because it's all you thought you were. But you are soooo much more than that.

Soooo... live for you. I'm sharing this quote here. It's deep.

In life, yes, we will always need people. We are all intertwined, after all. But don't be afraid to pick yourself... choose yourself... prioritize yourself... love yourself. If it means letting some people go, do what's best for you, your well-being, and healing. Surround yourself with people who have your best interest at heart and don't be afraid to safeguard your heart! ❤️

For anyone going through a difficult relationship or time, I really hope things work out for you. I hope you find your strength to leave or forgive-- whatever is best for you, personally.

I feel so much seen with this one statement here, Desiree and I don’t say it lightly hehe~ “don't be afraid to safeguard your heart“ ~ thank youuu for reminding that!🥹💖

And omigoooooshhh you’ve nailed it with this one~ love people, but live for yourself and even if they don’t like it~

I don’t mean to generalise but I find especially for most women, they are always expected to be someone’s-someone, first someone’s daughter, a sister, then a girlfriend or a wife, then a mother and of course many other related relationship-tags with different people; in the whole process of it, it becomes so much easier for women to lose out on creating (and remembering) their own identity outside of her relationships with people. A lot of this comes from socio-cultural aspects too, and the conditioning with which people grow; but that’s definitely a discussion for another time hehe!

I agree wholeheartedly, everyone is themself first, and have their own identity aside of any of what they do or are with, in life~ and nothing/ no one should take it away from them~ their individuality and sense of being a whole-person on their own, with their own choices, opinions, experiences and ….. life to live!

More power to everyone choosing and re-choosing themself over and over, as many times they have to! 💖 Thanks a lot for sharing, friend, you’re wonderful and wise as always! 🫶🏻🫂

Dont rush into relationships. Take your time. Lots of time. Talk. About the important things. If they're not willing to talk to you now about the things that matter - be assured down the road - things will be much harder for you. Don't bank on the hope for miraculous changes. Be tuned to reality. See things for what they are.

@Creamyyy

Such wonderful advice, Creamyyy, I love how you added all of these like little affirmations and reminders that are also “easy to remember” hehe~ thanks for sharing really!

I feel a lot of times, we end up “dating the potential” instead of dating the reality~ imagining things into the relationship that will be “better” “someday”~ while being ignorant about the “present” and how things are today. Many relationships fall apart when there’s unclear understanding of the shared expectations, lack of enough-communication about what a person really is like and wants in their life; sadly.

For the hopeful-hearts and the ones who like to think better of people, this might be difficult to accept but I agree with you, “the sooner you know, the better” and true about proper communication and having conversations about the difficult-seeming or more vulnerable than you’d like to be topics too~ especially them because these will become the core foundation of your relationship and what’ll really matter in the bigger picture of things. 💛 Oh and taking your time, it’s quintessential in building something more real and more long-lasting, truly!
