@Hope

This is a great great question!!

"Please tell us about a challenge you face in a relationship"

Reading the person I love.

I perceive I learned all the right social cues and so on. But I still miss the little things that make a difference in our relationship.
I might get the birthday card before the birthday but the delivery might be wrong. Or have the candle light dinner ready but not gaze in the starry eyes correctly.

All the BIG things, such as home, car, food on the table, bills, I am a great provider but its the little things that I miss from time to time that are important to the other in the relationship.
Maybe a caress at a tender moment. or a kind word or maybe an unspoken word but a look that so many know and I don't

@Hope Setting boundaries not to have expectations from them. I guess that is hard for most of the people.

@Hope I think our biggest difficulty is distance. I'm in a long distance relationship and sometimes it can get really hard. Especially when thinking future together like moving in with each other, if neither really wants to leave their country.

One challenge I find in a relationship is...

Keeping healthy boundaries & setting realistic expectations.

I have allowed people to step over my boundaries.

I have also exerted more effort on a relationship more than the other person, and expecting the same, but... I shouldn't. Not everyone is the same, and honestly? It's on ME for putting in too much effort and expecting to have reciprocation... It doesn't always work like that. I should learn not to expect that...

I have been in a physically & verbally long term relationship with my alcoholic ex-fiancé who is the parent of my little one. Then I jumped into another (toxic) relationship after, where I was used for money + comfort.

Now? I am content & single while focusing more on my little one as well as my career. I want to be successful to provide my little one with a good life. So he doesn't have to struggle like I did, nor grow up in an unhealthy environment that I did, where my NPD parents were physically & verbally abusive.

To not take things personally.

Which was extremely hard with my soon to be ex-wife. When she got overwhelmed she'd withdraw. A lot. For long periods of time. And you start wondering when you didn't do anything wrong like " what did I do wrong, what did I say". Only in the last weeks before I moved out she started to say "it is not you, do didn't do anything wrong, I just need space, alone time".
