Relationships & Compromise
Hello everyone! I hope you guys are doing wonderful ❤️
I would like the opinions of each and everyone here about certain things. Starting with relationships and how to maintain them. My question is- HOW MUCH COMPROMISE IS ENOUGH COMPROMISE IN A RELATIONSHIP?
Opinions about all kinds of relationships are welcome!
@yourPanda19
every relationship is different ....... i think people know when they are reaching their limit on compromise ......it is seldom perfectly in the middle .......one partner the compromise comes closer to their wants.......
often in relationships we give MORE .... when our partner is down or having a hard time we give a bit more ..... but we need that in return when it is our turn.
i am not talking of keeping score............. but a relationship needs to have give and take and when that becomes unbalanced ...... the relationship suffers.......

Well said. Balance is very essential.

Oo great question Panda! I think this is a very important question for people to consider whether they are in a relationship or not. I'd say the extent to which someone compromises always depends on the kind of person they are and the person they're with/looking for. Generally I'd say compromise is important as relationships are two people who are changing with each other to get to know each other, live with each other in the future, and if further grow a family together and grow old together. I surmise that this process will change a lot of people as they grow with the other person. Yet I'd also say that compromising can be unhealthy if the relationship is changing you to someone that you're clearly not or is hurting various aspects of your life that wasn't previously there. Letting a relationship be the sole reason for your changes isn't great because theres so many other aspects in life other than your relationship to consider and grow in! Just my two cents but TLDR it really depends on the person!

You have very amazingly put your point. It is necessary in relationships. But it cannot also be one sided all the time.
@yourPanda19
Definitely one sided relationships I feel like are almost doomed to fail in the long run...
@yourPanda19
People need to respect each other, and so do friends. Everyone has their own bottom line. I think it is enough to compromise to the bottom line. Everyone should love themselves
@blueCoconut2407
True. Many times it just feels like they have taken you for granted cause you keeo compromising, when it should be a two way bridge.
Compromise is important on things that will matter in five years otherwise don’t spent five minutes on it.
Which restaurant or show to watch Ying and Yang such you both take in activities the other enjoys simply because you love them and want ti be a part of their interests. if there are interests that you cannot participate in nor wish to you can cheer them on or others can fulfill that role such as family of friends.
Your values NEVER compromise on those.,, those are the things that bring you what you need, security, and a standard of behavior as well.
If your goals in life is very different ….there you need compromise such as where you live or job or even marriage etc you need to be in sync these macro issues in life.
it is too much compromise if you are the only one compromising … and it makes you sad. To maintain a relationship takes work from both or all involved.

This is so well described! Every word makes sense.
You do you and have someone in your life that matches your energy … life & love both 💕💕
@SunShineAlwaysGrateful
I guess I do have many people that I refer to as my friends so match that description!
@yourPanda19 really only you can answer that because only you decide how much compromise is enough compromise on anything and only you decide what things you dont want to compromise on at all - thats something that each person who knows what they want in life and want in a relationship must decide for themselves
maintaining a relationship involves each person compromising on the things they are willing to compromise on and accepting the things the other person is not willing to compromise on and communicating with that person regarding expectations with compromise and your feelings when they do not do what they agreed to
@jennysunrise8
True. The one in a relationship can only determine how much they are willing to give in and where they want to put a full stop.

If we take time to know and understand each other before deciding to be in the relationship, there would be a core understanding and compatibility. Similar goals, ideals, values, desires, plans for the future would mean any compromise in the big things would be exceptionally rare.
The small things like which restaurant to go to, which movie to watch, who does what chore etc, sure, those would take small compromises on both sides to make it a happy journey together.
If any big compromises are expected which force a shift from one's core self, perhaps it's time to reflect whether the relationship is still the right one.
